For those that have better things to do on Saturday Morning, my recap. NT 71-50, over N. Dakota but it was a lot tougher than the final score Kernal with 15 points, 9 rebounds, Moore 16 points, Lampkin 11 points, 10 rebounds This maybe the worst refereed game; I have witnessed. I have made this comment multiple times ruining my credibility, however it should be stated. It was not that the officials favored one side, they were just totally incompetent. For those who want referees who just "let them play", this game may just change your mind. NDS did have their star player knocked out of the game, lots of almost fights, and the referees lost control of the game for extensive periods. This was USM's so-called tournament, no champion and no chance of USM playing NT. The NT proved a lot, beat a much larger team in a crazy environment. 8 a.m. starting time and the teams' members outnumbered the fans. Early start time not to interfere with football game, great bit of planning there.

Fully agree, this team could be the best ever at NT if they continue to get better.

It is an exhibition for Angelo St and a regulation game for NT. This has been going on for years, although it been a long time since NT participated in this type game. It was created to help D1 schools fill their early schedules with easy games. Because it seems few want to play difficult away games without a big check. The lower classification school gets a payday and it does not count on their record. A highly motivated lower class team versus an overconfident buy a win team has resulting in embarrassing upsets.

The decision should be based on whether it is more important to play them one game and lose a possible year of eligibility or have 4 more years of play left. I would absolutely not use a player in this situation. Winning the game does not substantially change the season. Nor, is one defensive player likely to change the outcome of the game. The theory that remaining eligibility is not a driving factor in utilizing players because there is a high likelihood you are going to lose them anyway is a losing philosophy.

Why is it a big deal, they are paying a fortune to be in a conference with no close members? Kind of like NT in the Big West, other than NT didn't have any other options. Football may if they spend enough NIL money be successful, but I think they have substantially harmed all their other sports with the exception of Women's soccer.

Is this topic supposed to be funny? Enjoy the win, there will be plenty of time to complain about the defense.

There are two games to go and I think how NT finishes is important in any evaluation. NT should win both, and failure to do so will not help Morris. NT defense was the worst in D1, but IMO they have made significant improvements later in the season. It is easy if a defense does bad to blame it on the Defensive coordinator. NT lost the core of their defense to the portal and didn't replace them in the portal. I unlike many apparently have not concluded Morris was a bad hire. He was a risky hire, but I am not unhappy with the progress he/NT made after a horrible start. Caponi, may need to go or may be a victim of just not having enough real D1 talent to compete.

Expect a lot with a team that lost 70% of their scoring from last year in their 3rd game playing in a very hostile environment. I don't know how good St. John's will be, but they had all the advantages in this game. Plus I doubt few teams NT plays will have a better center than they had.

I think NT would beat SJ easily on a neutral site, this sure was not one. Losers always talk about refs., but this was atrocious. However, this was easily the best game NT has played this year. Small sample, but this team is getting better. Lot of missed easy shots plus a poor start spelled a loss.

Unlike NT fans concerning SMU, I doubt SMU fans spend any time obsessing on NT I really don't know why any NT fans care about SMU at all.

If NIL is not modified, athletic message boards are going be filled with explayer content. It is going to be common for all teams. The lower tier and mid-tier teams like NT are going almost always lose their superstars to bigger paychecks. Once they leave for better pastures, people are going to be curious about how they do. Perry undoubtedly was one of the best players ever at NT, I appreciate his time here. However, frankly what he does in Kansas does not interest me. I am much more interested in how Noland, Buggs and Allen do after transferring.

Peculiar take on Jones, who just completely shutdown Omaha's best player.

Have not changed my overall impression but would like to add: NT lost the nucleus of their team including the coach. Although, I would like a fast start, it is not likely to happen. Scott could be as special as some have predicted. Noland's debate was very strong. Jones also provides some consistency in the backcourt.

NT better get more interested in this game, looks like they are getting out hustled by an inferior team.

What point are you attempting to make? It did work for UTA, they saved a lot of money, they just up to this point have not been able to field a real strong men's bb program. They were on par with NT, but the drop in league quality has hurt them. What excuse, where do you see any excuses given? What have Gonzaga and WSU got to do with anything? They had football at one time and now are great BB programs. Being that was 37 years ago for WSU and over 80 years ago for Gonzaga, I think any kind of causality would be difficult to prove. Let me attempt to explain my point, just dropping one sport is not going to make the remaining sports better. Hence, being a basketball first school is not going to magically make basketball better. I could argue the opposite, football creates interest in the school that can definitely benefit other sports.

Ask UTA how that worked?

The only trend Littrell was on was to play .500 ball. At this point I don't know if Morris will be better, but a change was definitely needed.

How in the hell do you consider Morris and Littrell the same coach? They are about as different as you can get.

I differ a little, on playing big NIL schools like for example SEC programs. Yes, you have no significant chance to win but it can be a great experience for NT athletes, be a big payday, and provide a lot of exposure for the school. Playing SMU does not accomplish anything IMO.

Some of you seemed to think NT had a real chance against one of the best teams that can be bought. I don't like NT losing to anyone, but SMU probably bothers me the less. The average starting SMU player probably is paid more than NT's average coach. I don't care if NT ever plays SMU again in anything. The Mustangs can enjoy their home crowds that will probably be less than 5,000 fans and their away following that will number less than 500. In fact if I was an AD of a Texas school, I would boycott any games with the ponies. Why help a school/team that has enough money to buy anything including most of the players that are being recruited.
