  1. Anybody watching this, and if they are: please tell me what the hour plus delay was about.
  2. Completely disagree. Do you think the pro scouts are going to ignore a player of Perry's abilities because they don't scout a championship level NT program? My guess it is money, and why should it not be. Plus most believe a graduate degree has more value from a different institution than the one were a bachelor's was earned. There is life after basketball. Yes, I am sure the pros would like to see Perry in a higher level of competition, but there are few conferences better than what CUSA has demonstrated. There is also a big chance that Perry maynot be near as successful going against overall better teams in a B10 or SEC setting. There is definitely that risk.
  3. Strongly disagree with your point. If a player is of NBA quality, the NBA scouts are going to have no problem at all finding him at NT. That being stated, it is the player's decision to decide what is best for them. With NIL money college sports are changing for the worse, but players would be stupid not to take advantage of the current insanity.
  4. Maybe the start of getting the team on the winning track. Peters was great, it would have been a tragedy for her to get a loss after pitching at that level.
  5. Why not? Experience in coaching would make him a better candidate to every team. See little downside to hiring him as the third assistant. I thrust Hodge to be able to determine if he is ready or not.
  6. Disagree with you point of a young team. This is a very experienced team filled with players that started as freshmen and sophomores. This team despite beating a very bad UTEP, is just not playing up to their standards. They were much better last year and with 8 returning starters they are struggling this year. This despite only having a 2 pitcher rotation last year. Peters has close to the same ERA as last year, but is only 8-7 compared to 20-7 last year. Savage is just not having a good year up to this point. The problem is obvious with the exception of Gamble and a few others, the team is just not hitting. Team batting average is .263 compared to .290 last year. Errors and lack of timely hitting are areas that have to improve for this team to peak for the post season. It appears that the strategy of a tough OC schedule has backfired on Delong. This is just not a confident team. Hopefully, they can get back to their high norm by tournament time. Just my observations based on watching most of the games, far from an expert; but it seems to me that this team has something negative going on that needs to be addressed.
  7. I appreciate Perry, a great person and athlete. However, I couldn't care less where he goes next.
  8. Yes, NT will have to be competitive in the NIL game; however NT will never be able to outbid college powers for players. Lower level teams will basically be training centers for big money teams to pick and choose which players to bid for. What is most likely is that the major teams will recruit few high school or even juco players; but concentrate on signing transfers. The G5 class schools will be able to recruit more high school players, but those that are very good will be gone as soon as they get a big NIL buyoff for a major program. If this is not changed and I have little hope, basketball will be just like football were only about 30 teams can consistently compete.
  9. I didn't know that Perry came to NT to win a NIT championship. With the absolutely insane NIL status, there are very few NCAA players that can't be lured away. So fans can worry about losing most of the team or dream of getting another team's elite player: great off season speculation. NT has just won the NIT, despite losing McCasland; recruiting should be a lot easier. It will be very interesting to most NT fans to see how Hodges handles all this turmoil.
  10. I agree winning is what draws crowds, not what the style of play is. As far as attendance, this is NT were most students rather do almost anything rather than go to a sporting event, where Dentonites take NT for granted and wish they had an ex SWC team to support, and far too many alumni become t-shirt fans of UT, A&M or whoever is winning versus being openly associated with NT. It is slowly getting better, but replacing about every coach on the staff in one year is not going to help. Hodge IMO is the right choice. For all I know, he may have been more responsible for NT's recent basketball success than McCasland. McCasland is a big loss, but it is the way of college athletes; the bigger eat the smaller.
  11. You should note that UAB is wearing gray and they seem to being doing alright. Frankly, I am much less concerned with NT's uniform choices than what has happened to the Mean with this team. This is the most disappointing team in Delong's time here. Ranked at the beginning of the year and currently has a hard time even being competitive with mediocre opponents.
  12. I guess going 1 day to celebrate NT's great season without bringing up coaching changes, is too much to ask.
  13. That announcing crew is hard to take. Call the game, not give anecdotes about something no one cares about.
  14. Getting slaughtered today wearing green. Something bad has or is happening to this team.
  15. Neither was the defense or pitching in the WKU first two games. This team is going through a major slump.
  16. FAU's margin of victory in the NCAA Memphis 1 Fairleigh Dickinson 8 Tennessee (Mighty SEC) 7 For comparison: NT 4 NT 4 FAU has a great team and I hope they win it all, but NT certainly looks as good as anyone they have played in the tourney.
  17. Out of the three NT players called out at second, maybe one actually was.
  18. Andrew what in the heck are you talking about? As great a fan as you are, I sincerely doubt you get NT sports news before anyone else.
  19. Not sure what you expect Mc to say. He is in a strong negotiating position with NT, and even if has no desire to leave; it would be stupid at this time to state it. I am not sure why Texas Tech is assumed the major competition for his services. There are a lot of schools that are no doubt pursuing him. I wish we could enjoy the current success without worrying about next year.
  20. That color announcer is a pain to listen to, he seemed to think NT had no chance because OSU had all that length and is from the Big 12. Changed his tune thanks to a great first half by Sissoko and great defense.
  21. I think he gets another year, it would be great if Perry and him both return.
  22. It was the right decision, overdue if anything. Jalie is a top notch person, was the best NT woman basketball player in history, it seems a good recruiter, but at some point you have to do more than just coach .500 ball. To me, her teams seldom played above their talent level and often far below that level. I still remember a recent game with only seconds to go in the game and NT with a one point lead; NT goes down and quickly shoots and loses contest. I am sure that was not her direction, but she just produced a very undisciplined team. She could be and should be a great assistant coach. I really think she is better suited to that role.
  23. Both Sissoko and Ousmane are very valuable pieces of NT's team. Ousmane as inconsistent as he has been is able to dominance games. Sisscoko may have improved more than anyone in the last year. Morgan is an unknown, but with McCasland's reluctance to play deep bench players; it is hard to determine how good he is. Being that all three are underclassmen, it does not appear that recruiting a big is a high priority. Retaining Perry and Huntsberry has to be the major emphasis in recruiting. Eady, Martinez, and Browne are apparently out of eligibility, but who can tell these days.
  24. NT's budget numbers are complied the same way. It is just that private school tuition is a lot higher. No one pays the state and yes school funds pay for most all expenses at both schools. NT heavily relies on students fees, while SMU get much more in actual donations and currently conference support.
  25. Scheduling is limited to teams that will play NT and have a matching date to do so, The change in conferences has added needed oc games as some scheduled like SMU and Memphis are now at least scheduled as AAC contests. Four years out may seem like a long time, but in football scheduling, it is not. I agree there is nothing to gain by playing Wyoming on the surface versus a more regional game. However, it beats a money game against someone that won't ever play in Denton and that NT will have a difficult task in matching up with or a buy-a-win game against a SWAC or equivalent team.
