Excellent post Rick. I have always used the Fry years as the benchmark for UNT football. IMO we have never reached that level again.

RV is junior varsity when it comes to business acumen. He's better suited to running a pizza parlor in a small college town. That's just how it is. He has cost us more money, wasted more of our precious time and caused more damage than good. He should have been fired years ago.

Remember when Chico took over for Dodge he took over a team that was decimated by injuries. In fact, remember how we were all wondering what the heck was going on? It was so bad that many were even wondering if we were wearing the wrong shoes. But he took the remnants and went 2-3. We also almost beat Ark St and K-State. Then enter Mac. The first thing he did was publicly bad mouth the speed, size and athleticism of Dodge's recruits. It took Mac 3 years to do anything with that talent. I bet Chico would have won with them out of the shoot and that would have led to some very good recruiting seasons as well. Look maybe Chico isn't the guy but I would sure ask him what he could and would do differently from Dodge and Mac and why he thinks he could win here.

Osborne was a good QB. I saw what he did at Alabama only to get pulled after taking the team to the red zone and replaced by a freshman who was the kid of mac's friend. Also, saw how Osborne got screwed in Tulsa when mac started freshman Macnulty over Osborne. Macnulty threw two early picks for 12 points but Osborne didn't see the field until late in the game and still managed to score two or was it three TD's. If I was Osborne I would have been pissed. No one was going play in front of Macnulty as long as mac was coach. Period. That should be obvious to all by now. Even if it meant destroying the program. I believe that Williams and Berglund knew that and lost interest. Again, what mac did was despicable. Remember Canales was not hired by mac and was basically forced on him. I bet that was a tough place to be in for Canales. Our new head coach is sitting right in front of us and once again we are going to screw things up because we need someone with a name. You FIRE RV and you HIRE Canales.

Why would someone who has a lot of disposable income spend time on a football forum? You would think one would have more important things to attend to? Does anyone know how many of the 17 are posting on this forum?

Who is saying we have to sacrifice wins? Where are you reading that?

Of course an offensive system cannot attract fans in and of itself. I assumed that was common sense.You have to have a quality coach to implement it successfully. I think we will all agree that Dodge fell short. But nothing will bring back the fans faster than a quality strong armed QB throwing downfield to fast athletic receivers with the ability to score at any moment, especially when we are behind in the game and time is running out.

If we want to attract fans from around Denton as well as the students and alumni, win games and fill Apogee stadium then we need to run the spread. We need to get out of the rut of being a running offense. We've been there, done that. That doesn't mean we can't have a great running game but we need a real, legit aerial attack first.

True but don't forget what that 2.1 million could do for the program if it didn't have to be wasted on buying out someone who didn't earn it and doesn't deserve it. Maybe it could have been allocated for a new indoor practice facility. RV has really hurt this program!

Thanks Harry. As much as I love UNT, the stench coming out of this athletic department has made it very easy. I will still be around here and there. Thank you for all you do for all of us and UNT. Every time I'm over in Richardson in the area where the Wildflower Festival is held I always think of the time our families ran into each other. I still remember the spot. That was back in the nineties. Matt was wearing a UNT jersey and you came over and introduced yourself. That's the day I learned of the infamous gomeangreen. Man was it primitive back them. Haha. But it was a lifeline. It was the flame that kept UNT football alive. Thank you!

How RV can even suggest that Mac was a good coach is beyond everything that is honest and decent. Mac was a loser! His record speaks for itself. Not only that but Mac stole‌ 2.1 million from the University. Mac knows that, RV knows that and most of us on this board knows that. Mac ran this program into the ground. Mac publicly told everyone he couldn't do the job because it was to difficult to recruit to UNT. If you can't do the job and health was an issue then you resign sir! That's what an honest and decent individual does. He doesn't hang around until he destroys the program so he can get fired and bag the "unearned' buyout. RV is no better. Same mold, same arrogance. Fifteen years of smoke and mirrors. Honestly, how can these people look themselves in the mirror? I did not renew our 4 season tickets for basketball this year. First time in many many years. And although it turned my stomach I did renew our 5 season tickets for football this year because of my wife and son's insistence. But NO MORE!! No more donation to the Mean Green Club as well!! I can no longer be a party to this unethical, immoral, dishonest and incompetent program. Unless RV is fired my seats are up for sale! After 45 years I've seen enough.
