  1. "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." 2nd Peter 3:8 KJV
  2. You understand thats a terrible analogy, right? If our AD were white or black and scheduled Grambling at least their band would draw more interest and fans then IW could even think about. And not only that the Grambling fans would give Apogee its first sell out. Furthermore, where did I even remotely suggest that I had no interest in seeing the Mean Green play? Show me. I sincerely believe that RV put Incarnate Word before the interest of our fans and program and that is a violation of his duty as the Athletic Director of UNT.
  3. Isn't RV Catholic? I don't know but if indeed he is then wouldn't it be sensible to look deeper into the Incarnate Word deal. For instance, why would RV spend $350K to bring a D1AA Catholic school into Apogee Stadium that creates "absolutely no fan interest" and furthermore why would he pay them $350,000 to drive up from San Antonio? It's not like they have to fly from a destination such as 1A Idaho.
  4. Good post Rick. I agree with all of that. So let me sum it up and be the first to say, MAC CAN'T COACH!! Take mac outside the security of the four walls of a BCS institution or the protection of a P5 conference and he is exposed for what he really is, a cheerleader. Thats what RV bought. Thats what we have as our head coach. A cheerleader.
  5. LOL! This guy doesn't know what he's doing. Are you not paying attention? Have you not been listening to what he's been saying for the last four years? Good grief. UNT fans are the most naive gullible people on the face of the earth. No wonder the BOR and the AD can get away with seducing so many of you into accepting failure.
  6. Yes, but you have to be more cognizant. RV has had 15 years. How many more baby steps do you need in order to realize change is needed at the AD postion? Also, Mac has had plenty of time to prove himself. This should have been his big break out year and we should be playing for the conference championship this year. Don't you ever let anyone convince you differently. Remember when Mac came in here his first year and before the start of that season he pubicly demeaned the players recruited by his predecessor by saying they were too small, too slow....not very athletic? Now wouldn't you think that if a man is going to slam the players recruited by another man then he would be damn certain to sign bigger, faster, stronger athletes? Where are they? And don't you find it the least bit ironic that those other coaches players he publically criticized produced a 9-4 season for him even winning the HOD Bowl. What have Mac's recruits done? Like I said before, we been had and there ain't a darn thing anyone can do because RV and the board made certain of that by locking themselves into long term onesided contracts. Go Mean Green! Beat FIU!
  7. That's like making the wolf guard over the hen house. RV along with the BOR are the reason we are stuck in mediocrity. And that's saying it mildly.
  8. For the record. I have no animostiy towards the AD or the HC. I know we can do better and I believe we deserve better. I am tired of hearing the excuses used to manipulate the fans into accepting failure. That's all I'll say, for now.
  9. I am not trying to win a popularity contest. Its sad so many others simply can not recogize or refuse to accept the facts and that only allows for us to continue down this path of mediocrity. In fact, all it does is strenghen it. If I'm seen as the bad guy then so be it. I care more about UNT and its Athletics than what others think of me. Like I said before, after 44 years one has heard all the coach speak there is to hear. Actions speak louder than words and 3-7 in year four says a lot.
  10. Not at all, I'm just not as gullible.
  11. That's how much Mac makes PER MONTH!! Guaranteed! WIN or LOSE! How many of us make that much in one year? Mac was wrong for UNT when he was sitting on his couch in Florida, he is wrong for UNT today and he will be wrong for UNT tomorrow and I honestly believe Mac knows that. Don't be deceived. Having to change the culture, it's going to take time, the cupboard was bare, years of losing, North Texas is a tough place to recruit to are all diversions as well as excuses designed to keep you at bay while the cash cow provides a handsome living for those fortunate enough to be under one-sided contracts without consequences or accountabilty for failure. And I might add that one of the individuals responsible for bringing Mac here and then foolishly giving Mac a hugh pay raise and contract extension makes about $30,000 per month!! WOW! Fifteen years is long enough!! Again, don't be deceived. This should be Mac's break out season, period!! Four years on the job is more than enough time to prove yourself. We been had. This is my opinion only and is not shared by family members.
  12. Actually the best option is not even listed in the poll and that would be for RV to resign thereby freeing the University from the heavy financial burden created with firing him. We desperately need a change. A new spirit and new direction. New ideas. The whole atmosphere within the AD is stale. What a shame we haven't even sold out Apogee during its first 4 years. What are those season ticket numbers? Unless RV mismanaged his 401 he should have more than enough to comfortably retire on negating any need to force the University to fulfill the remainder of his contract. A win/win for all.
  13. Oh no!! This can't be right. Attendance 20,281. That fried chicken promo must have really worked.
  14. The fact that those numbers are being kept confidential tells us a lot about the job being done under this AD's direction. Now, I would love to see BV get those numbers showing the percent of increase or decrease in season ticket sales under RV's tenure even if it requires filing the Freedom of Information Act. Of course, we all know it would cost BV his job. I'm I wrong here?
  15. Actually its Mac's job to "WIN" football games and if that entails changing the culture of the team so be it. Mac has had four years. He has failed. He has already admitted " this isn't the easiest place in the world to recruit to." And the results on the field give testament to his failure at this very important aspect of his job. Now stop and think very carefully meanie greenies, what makes any of you believe for one second that all of a sudden Mac is going to become a great recruiter here at UNT? In essence he has already admitted defeat. Please wake up. Mac is nothing more than a lame duck head coach who thanks to a very incompetent Athletic Director doesn't even have to win for the next four years (or whatever), because he knows the University is cash poor and can't afford to buy out his contract. This is the worst possible position our football program could be in especially at this time with Texas State and UTSA surging. Very sad. Very pathetic. No accountability.
  16. The ethical and proper action for both RV and Mac to take right now would be to announce their retirement.
  17. Yeah, NO ONE and I mean NO ONE can publicly bad mouth this team but Mac!!
  18. Good grief people. Can't any of you recognize the root of the problem? RV has to be sitting somewhere laughing in total disbelief and amazement as his Head Coach gets attacked left and right. How RV has been able to fly under the radar these last ten years is simply amazing and it doesn't really speak highly of the UNT faithful who proudly display their business degrees, does it? Poor hiring decisions, lack of marketing knowledge and business skills has not only stunted the growth of UNT Athletics but has allowed Texas State and UTSA to pass us by. Mac needs to be under fire for sure but the man who extended his contract with a hefty pay raise needs to resign.
  19. Thank you FFR for the your common sense post. It's like a breath of fresh air in an environment of smoke and mirrors.
  20. Honestly? Listen, your head coach prior to this game announced not only to the world but also to your competitors for that week that you are "not as talented." How the hell would you feel? Then your coaches try to fire you up with phony, disingenuous enthusiasm that's really about making the coaches look good. It's insulting to the players. It's demeaning and these kids aren't dumb concerning this patronizing condescending attitude and the Mean Green faithful shouldn't be either. RV and Mac are the wrong people for this program yesterday, today and tomorrow.
  21. cogido. No comment at this time on the football situation other than to say still hoping for the best. Odus Mitchell, eh? You go back further than me. We're old farts.
  22. I know most of those who post on this board will agree with you. I don't. I don't think Mac is a very good coach. I also know that there are many out there that feel the same way but are too intimidated to speak out here on this forum or anywhere for that matter for fear of being labled trouble makers, haters, unloyal (etc.) by those here and by the "good ole boy club" within the Athletic Department. Let me be clear about one thing. I like everyone else want nothing more than to see Mac succeed big time. Remember, its my Alma Mater as well. Over the last 44 years I have seen a lot of coaches and AD's come and go. I heard every speech that can ever be made. I've heard and seen it all over those years, the good, what little there was, and the bad. But people we are already 4 years into this coaching hire and there are cracks starting to show. Many questioned this hire from the beginning because of his overall losing record. This should be his break out year but we have witnessed four blow out loses. Please don't be so gullible as to fall prey to those who are selling you something else. Think for yourself. Use your degree for goodness sake. Mocking your players in public is a sign of weakness. Complaining in public about how difficult it is to recruit to UNT is a sign of weakness and will only hurt future recruiting efforts. Good coaches don't complain in public because they know doing so will be perceived for what it really is.....making excuses. Good coaches don't make excuses, they win. Again, I so hope Mac turns it around the rest of this season because If he succeeds then we all succeed. But he has dug a deep hole for himself.
