  1. Today
  2. This ain’t politics. College sports have very certain brands that make the networks money with eyeballs. The little guys aren’t any of those brands.
  3. Yesterday
  4. When will some of the media types start standing up for the little guy?
  5. The problem is that the judges and legislatures are dominated by the Power Teams' alums, not to mention the $$$ those schools bring to their states. A lawsuit is DOA, I'm afraid. What needs to happen is those 40-50 Power schools (or less) need to breakaway and play their own professional levels of football, basketball, and baseball. Let the rest of us start over again and play against each other in scholarship+stipend setups, with no transfers between schools without costing you a year, just as it used to be.
  6. GMG.com is equipped with a lens so powerful, it can find the differences in everything and there is no metaphor that is safe. No analogy that works.
  7. Pitchers around here throwing softballs, and then they mock the batter for taking the swing.
  8. Interesting, I thought SFA and Tarleton were high targets for CUSA. Maybe this confirms my other thoughts that CUSA will be aiming more for the FCS powerhouses in the Dakotas/Montana/Idaho.
  9. Feels great. We're still making more money than we did in the AAC. And whatever happens with conferences and levels, we won't be back on the level of AAC.
  10. I have to admit I was skeptical of the Kyrie signing, and man have I been proven wrong. Van Gundy is calling Doncic/Irving as the best backcourt in NBA history. I don’t know about that but they are damn good and fun to watch. Can they go all the way?
  11. How does it feel to pay $7 million and forego revenue just to be back basically where you were from the start? Once the SEC and Big 10 finishing raping every other conference we will all be in the same boat.
  12. KD is sadly too small to play LB professionally.

  14. Let's be 100% transparent. Our situation is apples and Oranges to theirs. We learn on the job and we have a ceiling. Most of our careers will max at what...250k? 300 at most unless you are a Harvard educated CEO. Most of us probably started in the 40k range. That's Pickles compared to their starting peanuts. Athletes have insane competition just to get hired, have a super high ceiling, but also a super short shelf life (unless you're Aaron Fing Rodgers. Please die already). The investment is before they get hired, and the potential is (imho) insane. There's no comparison here. Best not to try.
  15. It just takes one or two hijackers to ruin the board for everyone.
  16. I thought KD would make it. Hopefully he’ll have other opportunities.
  17. Bilas sounds like another P5 suck-up. Athletes will have to accept restrictions on compensation if they want roster spots on some programs. Deal with it or join the military!
  18. It's filler content. Networks need content to fill out their schedules, especially ESPN+ which can show many games at once. I never once said there in no value, tonnage is a thing in media. What I am saying is we are low value, and would be even lower if we make another drop in perception. So now I ask you what is the value of your games when you get paid 10x less than other conferences? And that's us who have the best media deal out of the G5s, the MAC, CUSA, and SBC could be looking at something like 60x lower.
  19. I didn't open this thread expecting a war. Can we change the subject to something less controversial like the band wearing shorts?
