FYI, you do not need a twitter account to follow anyone's tweets. A RSS/feed reader will do the trick. I subscribe via Google Reader and follow tons of friends/venues/etc. It's pretty awesome. If you already have gmail, then you're already set. Just login and start adding feeds. Except for this guy. Don't pay attention to that crap.

Yes, but we aren't looking for moral victories here.

Gangrene gets 10 points for the unusual homoerotic hijack?

Sadly, this is our reality. Purely hypothetical: I wonder if the NCAA would rule more in our favor if we were on a bowl run.

kinda sucks.

Welcome home, Cole! William and Tyler will take the WR talent we already have to an entirely new level next year.

Those guys must be smokin' something! -
Not to excuse them for anything piss-poor, but I think our situation is a marketing/pr nightmare. Eagles are one of the toughest mascots to work with, and our colors don't allow for a lot of creativity. Remember those old 1990s websites with green-on-black text? horrible. As part of my high school's first class, I was a part of a process that got to select the colors and mascot for our school. They brought in some pros and you know what they were adamant about? Eagles - though badass - are ridiculously hard to work with, and green does not go well with many other colors. I think that has lent ourselves to the constant changeovers year after year, be it toothpaste green, glow green, forest green, w/e.... Luckily we're always MEAN green

Hey Peter, check out this chick on channel 9! -
Answer in 2 parts: Defense: Booger is the easy answer, so I'll go with a tie between Buckles and Craig Jones. In truth, there is not really a wrong answer if you pick anyone off that defense. Offense: Cobbs. And for an encore, how about Jamal Branch? That offense didn't really need a ton of offensive weapons, just a RB and maybe a guy that you could use as a wrinkle. Branch was an amazing all-everything wrinkle.

I can hear it now: "We know there are plenty of UT fans in the area. And UNT students are more than welcome to come in and enjoy the atmosphere. We'll have their games on somewhere, like that live chat with our free WiFi!" -
The win over Indiana last year marked Ball State's first OOC win over an FBS opponent going back to 1975, bringing their non-MAC record (not including FCS) to 1-48. They also have a couple of non-IA losses in there, but I like to think NT fans (and now Michigan!) can appreciate a tough FCS team The database has records dating back to 1975, and in other pages explains they have played football since the 1920s. We certainly have nothing recent to brag about. I was just putting the pillow-fight perspective into this epic war that is about to unfold.

Football: Unt Looks For Rbs To Get More Involved

The chat mentioned today a run up the gut on 3rd and 9... -
I'll take Edge's predictions for what it's worth: from someone who clearly has no interest in the conference.

Good read. I know in the live chat they brought up Chief's drop to the 3rd team. Any thoughts/concerns about that?

Steve H/B will tell you he'll eventually get in, just probably not this year. They also concede that with this higher standard, some previous inductees probably should not be in there (they didn't point out names). And the biggest knock on Scott that can't really be answered is that he won 1 FBS OOC game in his career. We agreed: it is an unfair reality that the QB bears that weight while other positions (such as Kassell at LB or Booger) did/will not have to worry about that. So stupid. I am so glad I am not on the panel.

I think an improved pass rush will bleed improvement into the other areas of defense, including tackling and coverage.

For fun, I shot the Stephens an email after reviewing the HOF chat/debate. This is a great thread theme, so fire away if you please! If I may, I would like to provide some counterpoint to the HOF chat I just reviewed. I'm of the opinion that Scott should be in and find some of your rebuttals in the chat to be counterproductive. Two points I would like to address (feel free to disagree! this is just for fun): 1) Stats. Hall had minimal yardage and, in fact, rarely topped 200 yards in his career - let alone 300. I find it unfair to Scott's argument that you are holding this against him but want to put J-Mo, Cobbs, JaQuay and Galbreath ahead of him. Scott's lack of stats were the very bi-product of the same system that gave J-Mo and Co the opportunity to cushion their's. It is of no knock on the RBs that their numbers were inflated because of Dickey's offensive system, and this same system was the very one that limited the chance for Scott to chug it around like we saw Vizza do for two years. How many RBs in Dickey's tenure did not get over 800 yards? I hope that puts some perspective on the stats argument.* One of my first and most vivid memories of Scott Hall is @ OU in 2001. On the second play from scrimmage he somehow escaped the OU pressure, rolled right and hit a streaking Ja'mel on the sideline for 58 yards. I knew at that point that we had someone special. ...having said that, I know you don't like the single-instance examples for HOF debate. For what it is worth, I think every member of that team will tell you that the reason we had such a successful running game while Scott Hall was "running the Buick" was because of the most consistently effective - and at times dominant - play-action in the conference. Otherwise, they would have just stacked the box. 2) Big games (or OOC). Very quickly, I just want to say there does seem to be a flaw that you want to give longevity high priority and dismiss single instances, yet hold these single games against Scott. And if big-games will count, should QBs be held the blame? Kassell's OOC record was less-than stellar, and nobody held that against him. And unfortunately, only QBs bear the weight of that argument. *Just for fun, ask yourself how many QBs would average 250 ypg under Dodge's tenure. Do you see a future HOF in Riley if he carries us through 4 unbeaten conference seasons but loses 75% of the OOC games? If the time comes that this Riley debate arrives, I would hope that the understanding is 250 - 300 ypg in Dodge's offense (thus bringing a 3 year career to sum 9K - 10.8K yards) should be put in perspective, and not on a pedestal.
