  1. Norm Hitzges once said that North Texas is the place where coaching careers go to die. He's right. Until our lame ass BOR decides that winning is important, this will be the case. The losing culture here is so dominate, that I don't think anyone has any idea how to win. No goals, not standards, no expectations. Only losing. I've been a season ticket holder/Mean Green Club member for many years and I'm tired of getting kicked in the nuts week in, week out, year after year. We are a small time program that settles for losing. We accept losing. We're OK with it. I don't look forward to game days anymore because, what's the point? Our athletic department is a joke and places no emphasis on winning. The worst part? We are irrelevant in our conference, our state and to the general public. 2013 was an illusion and I have checked out.
  2. FFR, I know you're right there with me on this because you're a purest like me. When/where did it start that an eagle "caws?" Even our idiotic marketing department plays into this. Eagles don't "CAW." Crows "caw." Eagles "shreek" and have talons, not claws. At old Fouts, when we needed a big play, the PA system would play a very loud "shreek." LIKE A REAL EAGLE DOES! OK, now that's off my chest. GO MEAN GREEN!
  3. Except, there are no national championships at stake here.
  4. ...and now S. Carolina. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/coach-steve-spurrier-makes-qb-switch-south-carolina-181938304--ncaaf.html GO MEAN GREEN!
  5. There's a lot more at stake at Texas and Auburn than at little North Texas. GO MEAN GREEN!
  6. Everyone on the thread makes a lot of sense, but allow me to add my 2 cents. Change for the sake of change isn't going to do us any good, although I do believe wholesale changes are needed in the AD. With that said, it is up to the BOR, the Prez and our esteemed Chancellor to make the commitment, ala TCU and now, Houston, and pony up to bring in a proven coach and AD with a passion for UNT. Anything else is just changing to wallpaper.
  7. The bottom line is that without a change a QB, teams are still going to stack the line and blitz like crazy because they don't, and will not, respect the downfield passing game because it isn't there. Five or six guys can't block six or seven. AMac isn't going to beat anyone with his arm or his running ability, or lack thereof. So until a change is made, why would we expect a better outcome? It's the definition of insanity. Or is it deja vu all over again? GO MEAN GREEN!
  8. 1. What is it you think you haven't seen from Andrew McNulty that keeps him your starting QB? We already know what we have in Josh Greer. Why don't you put in DaMarcus Smith and allow him to improvise if he needs to, just as Matt Davis did with SMU? Davis was the difference maker in the game. don't you agree? And on a serious note, 2. What is your overall assessment of the OL vs SMU? Is Jordan Murray your new starter at left tackle?
  9. Another problem we had last night was the o-line getting their asses whipped. No running room for our backs and very little time for McNulty to get his feet set. He really needs that to be successful.
  10. Buy out Mac's contract and allow Chico to run it his way. His interim stretch post Dodge was brilliant.
  11. Well, we'll never know, will we? Until Mac puts him in, he will be a mystery. Let him learn, and improvise just as Davis has done.
  12. We all saw what a quarterback with talent can do on his own when a defense does their job. Davis singlehandedly won that game for SMU with his running ability. When AMac was pressured, what did he do? Overthrew, underthrew or threw into double overage. No running ability, whatsoever. He is exposed and will continue to be exposed because it was obvious smu did not respect the passing game, or McNulty's ability to make a play. Rice will do the same thing and so will every other team we play. Yes, it is going to be a long year, but maybe one that is needed so that heads can role. It is the only thing that will effect change at UNT.
  13. Called the ticket office and was told the tickets were mailed out Friday. I'll look for them today. When I asked if there was a contingency if they don't arrive by Friday, I was told a representative from the ticket office will be at the tailgate with a list of those who bought tickets. They better hope that is the case or there will be some very pissed off ticket holders. GO MEAN GREEN!
  14. Haven't gotten mine either. I suppose the big doners have. Hell, and I live twelve miles from campus.
  15. Is anyone planning on taking the train to SMU on the 12th? Several of us would like to do that, but don't want to get stranded in Dallas or Carrollton on the trip back. Anyone with experience riding the train?
  16. Is it just me? I have yet to find a gallery to all the new uniform pictures to see all the different combinations. Help! GO MEAN GREEN!
  17. Happy birthday, Coach Mac. Now...let's get out there AND KICK SOME ASS!! GO MEAN GREEN!
  18. I love the mention about TCU and the committment from their BOR's that got them into the Big 12. What made us a candidate for the SWC back in the day,but not a candidate now?

  20. Agreed. Our black unis with the black helmet looks awesome. This year I'd like to see the combo of black helmets, green jerseys, black pants and shoes. Hello, Rick? GO MEAN GREEN!
  21. I'll be there with friends and family in tow. GO MEAN GREEN!
