  1. I completely mis-judged Tulsa. If UNT stays focused and takes care of business, we will win out. And then, 90 is right. We won't need any 'help' from UTSA. If UTSA wins against Tulane, I'll consider it a slip-up for Tulane. Although, I don't really believe Tulane is all that much better than UTSA. Defensively, they will hold UTSA's offense at bay.
  2. As much as all of us would LOVE for the Mean Green to play in the HOD bowl because it would be easier for us to attend, would that really be the best reward for our guys? As invested as we are, as fans, aren't the players more invested? Shouldn't they have a chance to play at some other exotic location... like say, Hawaii, if they wanted to? I'm afraid the guys would be a little let down if they played their bowl game in Dallas. Maybe I'm wrong though... I'm in agreement with Flyer though, the Liberty Bowl is the best case scenario. Memphis is a cool place to visit. The guys would get to visit St. Judes and do some good. It's a perfect fit. ...now, if we have to play it against the Vols, that's going to be tough, because it would virtually be a home game for the Vols. I think Ole Miss would be better for us.
  3. Nice find Kram! Sherrington writing about us in a positive way is a good thing!
  4. 90, I wouldn't expect this thought from you... Again, why would a player be good enough to play and win at UNT, yet that same player would have to ride pine at TCU? Is UNT really that bad? Do you think UNT and TCU would be a good game today? Let's play up the fact that we're a winning program and we're on our way up, whereas TCU is a losing program and on the way to the cellar of their conference. Regardless of conference affiliation. If you want to be seen on TV, then UNT is a great place to play as well. There are alot of ways to sell UNT and tear down TCU/SMU, but saying that a kid is going to be a 4-year starter here while they would be stuck riding pine at TCU/SMU is just not true. If they're a good player, they'll play, regardless of where they sign. See Marcus Trice for example. If they're a crappy player, they'll be crappy regardless of where they sign. See Tyler Stradford for example.
  5. I brought my two kids, and was a little disappointed in the 'trick-or-treating' under the wings. The bouncehouse was cool and the joust was cool too. But other than that, there were only 4-5 'stands' with different UNT teams represented, and a table sponsored by Sport Clips. It took us all of 5 minutes to go through it. This will need to improve if my wife/kids will allow it again.
  6. That's odd, because I would say the same thing about the student side during kickoff as opposed to the end of the 1st quarter. Let's just all do our part, huh? No need to start this stupid argument.
  7. This one is a lock homie. The team to watch out for looking past is the birds that don't fly because they can actually score points.
  8. Did you see the way Dick put his head in there and just rammed the hole?that was too easy. Nice first down.
  9. the '3-420 defense' and the 'puff-puff-pass' offense...
  10. I can't figure out whether your thread is about the weather or not.
  11. I think the NORTH... TEXAS... chant is getting to be too loud too. just... please get it fixed.
  12. seeing as he's getting some all-american KR/PR buzz, I would think he could get into one of the showcase bowls.
  13. Worried that the ROTC folks who do pushups may forget to bring their protein powder for the shakes they're going to need to drink at halftime because they are going to be doing A LOT of pushups.
  14. I'm not sure we'd have to meet all of these criteria, but I would say maybe 3 of the 4... with winning next year's opener in Austin as a must. If Green N'walins Vet is correct above, this will be a big boost. We may get close to 30k if they keep buying their tickets and walk-up as well as a student turnout like yesterday and the return of the alumni side.
  15. **Wildly premature speculation alert!!!** Do you think if this were to come to fruition and we beat them, would they want to buy out of one (if not both) of their purchased games with us?
  16. Agree. As it stands RIGHT NOW, our biggest rivalry in C-USA is Middle Tennessee. I'd love for LA Tech to get back to relevance and develop something with them, and UTEP/RICE would be nice to rival with as well.
  17. I would really be concerned for Brelan's safety in the NFL. The way he runs with reckless abandon... those guys in the NFL don't hit like SBC and C-USA guys. Brelan refuses to go down on first contact, but in the league, he may get knocked out or worse if he tries to keep running like he does now.
  18. Well, seeing as DT threw 2 of them to him, I'm sure he has more.
  19. That's what I've heard, but we also shouldn't discount the fact that UTEP is 1-6, and a horrible team in the form of Idaho & Southern Miss.
  20. I think we're going to need to rely on a solid UTEP showing if we're going to approach a sellout. Otherwise, if the students come out again like they did last night, and UTEP only brings what Rice brought, we'll be right around 25K.
  21. There's a difference between what we saw last night, and what we saw October 5, in New Orleans. Last night, the better team clearly won. The team that beat UNT on October 5th routinely has people scratching their heads after each game. The defense is good (not great), but luck has to run out sometime, right? And, you would think a superior team (one of the best red zone offenses in the nation) would be able to punch it in with 8 chances inside the 10, wouldn't you? Wouldn't the superior team also recognize the best player in the conference standing ready for a punt and NOT punt it to him so he can't take it to the house?
  22. well... they did get points off of a special teams mistake, but then again, we got more.
  23. I'd love to see Sir Calvin step up in the middle.
