  1. "A Mean Green" = Okie / Cowboy Killer What does that say about the current state of their program if the only thing they can do is downgrade our program, and they just got served by us? Give credit where credit is due. They had the lead twice the entire game. We owned from start to finish.
  2. I think if TCU or SMU were to do the same, it would be a big deal for them. OK State has a storied program. Yea, they be young and not as good as recent past but like I said, they have a history of being good. No matter how you look at it, its a move in the right direction for our team and university. GO MEAN GREEN!!!
  3. Also, feel free to state your comments here. http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/conversation?gameId=273180249
  4. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab North Texas is one of the main headlines on the right. Good stuff. Huge win for the B-ball program. Huge win for the athletic department. Huge win for the university. These are the kinds of things that help not only basketball team, but other sports as well. Great job! http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/recap;_ylt=A...415&prov=ap
  5. Is the game on the radio via internet? I'm watching gamecast on ESPN. We're winning 32-21 right now. GO MEAN GREEN!
  6. The way we were moving the ball, we could have scored in 24 seconds. I don't blame the coaches at all here. Everyone bitched about how conservative and passive Dickey was. Now we complain when we get the opposite. TD has nothing to lose the rest of the way out, so any and all aggressiveness is welcomed on my part.
  7. Looks like the Hilltoppers might come into the Sun Belt and contend right away. Troy has been beating everyone else in the conference with ease. Western Kentucky was able to keep it close all the way to the end. This is a good addition to the conference. They have a solid basketball program the has made in the dance several times. Looks like they a solid football team coming together as well. This is a game we cannot overlook.
  8. Couldn't have said it better myself. I thought going into the season that our defense would be the one area of strength while our offense would progress as the season moved along. We might need to consider trying to steal some JUCO players. Nonetheless, and say what you want, but this game could turn out to be a good thing for UNT. Think about the press and the publicity thats coming to us after this game. People understand TD will find ways to score points. Now TD can go out when he's recruiting defensive players and tell them that they can come in and play immediately. Give TD some time to fix this thing. We all know Coach Mendoza is in over his head at the college ranks. Things can only get better guys.
  9. Good pics from the game on ESPN. Check them out. http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/photos?gameId=273140249
  10. This is off the the collegefootballnews website. "North Texas … The North Texas offense moved well on Middle Tennessee, but 13 penalties and five turnovers were way too much to overcome. The running game has to be established over the last month. Jamario Thomas is a good back who isn't getting nearly enough work. He ripped off a 77-yard touchdown dash right away, and finished with 89 yards. That's inexcusable. The defense, for the most part, didn't do a bad job considering MT put 48 points on the board. What the hell is that supposed to mean?
  11. My bad, one of the top three worst defenses in the country.
  12. I expected not to have the worse defense in the county........................
  13. I still believe that Todd Dodge can turn things around. As for Mendoza............................... chirp, chirp. Listen, we have to get someone that can put some confidence in our defensive players. We have been terrible on defense. How do you create 7 turnovers and still give up 45 points? How do we own the clock for 40 minutes vs. ULL and still give up 38? Its been a long season but the future only looks brighter. I feel for Coach Mendoza. I'm sure he's given it everything he's had but we need someone with more experience at this level.
  14. Arguably good news for us. Combine the recent slide of TCU with SMU's woes and we could have a recipe for a better recruiting class. It is imperative that we finish the season strong in order to show recruits that UNT will only get better as time progresses under Dodge and that the balance of power is shifting north. We need to win some more games and what better one to get that this one this weekend. Navy would be nice too.
  15. He's been coaching in the NFL for awhile now. http://www.sf49ers.com/team/coaches_detail.php?PRKey=16
  16. Being honest here, but do we really have any at this point?
  17. What a joke. The best offensive performance of the year was obviously against SMU. Even if the box scores are the only thing he reads, the stats speak for themselves. What a dumbass!
  18. For those that might have been watching the game, did anyone see that TERRIBLE overturned call on the block field goal? First, there was never a flag thrown until Schiano runs the official down, complaining like a little girl. More importantly, if you really watched the "forward pass", the ball was in his left hand, he gets hit from behind, fumbles, tries to regain possession with his right hand, which is what caused the ball to go forward. Not an intentional forward lateral at all, whatsoever. Anyone that knows anything about physics will explain the players' momentum as the reason the for the ball to go forward. Terrible call!
  19. Does anyone know what this is about? "Oct 3 Rich Cimini, of the New York Daily News, reports New York Jets LB Cody Spencer (illness) hopes to play next season, according to sources. Spencer was placed on the Non-Football Injury list and will list the rest of the season. KFFL Oct 2 Spencer was placed on the reserve-non-football illness list Tuesday, ending his season. Advice: Spencer, in his fourth NFL season and second with New York, played in the season opener against New England but was inactive the last three weeks. He first appeared on the team's injury report last Wednesday with an undisclosed illness. " http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6941/n...GSRkFyKgmj.uLYF While I was at it, nice to see P-Cobbs still on the roster. Although he hasn't played yet, he beat out the rookie from Florida State, Lorenzo Booker, to get the spot. Something good is bound to happen sooner or later. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/mia/depthchart And also....... looks like Awasom is on the IR for some reason. Anyone know? http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/nyg/roster
  20. This is an improvement from where the Sun Belt was a few years ago. We (the conference) have also gotten some good OOC wins too. Too bad none have been by the Mean Green.
  21. Interesting article on our athletic department and the differences between us and the big guys. It appeared on the front cover the Austin American Statesman today. http://www.statesman.com/sports/content/sp...northtexas.html
  22. I could not, 100% completely disagree more. When we were successful, 2001-2004 seasons, we had great linemen. Booger, Cardwell, Awasom, Brewster, Lineberry, Zuniga, etc......... (someone please name some more). Those are the kinds of guys we need back. I don't know of any o-line or d-linemen we currently have the could win a spot over any of these guys. Love him or hate him, Dickey understood winning the battle in the trenches was the avenue to consistent winning and that's where we've lost our edge, and we need it back!
  23. Not really sure what's meant by that. I understand it's an old cliche but its a simple truth about football. Plain and simple, we're losing the battle up front. To win football games week in and week out, you have to control the line of scrimmage. Look no further than the game played this Monday night. The Saints, who have great weapons in the backfield, couldn't do anything because their offensive and defensive fronts were plain and simply getting whooped. It doesn't matter who we have at QB if we can't keep him upright. The good news we're extremely young on the o-line and things will only get better.
