  1. I was looking at the Mean Green's overall national rankings and one thing really stood out to me. I think these stats tell the truth, we are simply not winning the battle up front on either side of the ball. We are 113th in sacks allowed (4 per game), and 116th in sacks (.67 per game). Also, we are 114th in tackles for a loss (3.67 per game). Simple fact, we aren't winning up front and its effecting everything behind it. http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/2007/Internet/r...7000000497.HTML
  2. Does anyone have the link to the actual article in reference here? I'm curious to read what everyone got upset about.
  3. I'll give an AMEN to bringing DeLo back!!!!!!!
  4. Two things. First, any concerns about his height should be thrown out the window......... he will rarely, if ever, take a snap under center. No drop back passes, so the size of the o-line is not really a factor. Second, he knows this offense. He has been playing within the same system since middle school. For the same reasons that Payton Manning is so good, so will Riley Dodge. He understands the game and will be able to make adjustments at the line of scrimmage. Case in point, when Riley walks on campus, he will make an immediate impact at the QB position whether he is starting or not. My guess is that Meager will not be starting this time next year or at the end of this season for that matter. He has seen his fair share of opportunites and either needs to start winning or move aside to give the youngster (Vizza) some game time.
  5. Look at the points we gave up last year compared to this year so far. OU is one thing but SMU is another. And this is with 10 returning starters. The only excuse I can think of is the since we throw the ball more, it lengthens the game, thus allowing the opposing team to run more plays. Only time will tell how good we will be the rest of the season. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/teamsched?te...9&year=2006
  6. Let's admit it, Dickey won just enough to keep his head above water. Its tough to fire a coach who has won the conference 4 straight seasons. And yes, the defense was better under Dickey but that was not necasarrily a direct reflection of Dickey. Gary DeLoach was a hell of a defensive coordinator and that's why he is he is still at UCLA. I had a hard time cutting and pasting his bio, but just go the assistant coaches bios and read up on him. Once he left, the Green Curtain began to fall. I feel our defense is underperforming with how many returning starters we have (9 or 10). SMU should not be able to hang 45 (although 7 came via the defense). Case in point, Coach Mendoza needs to show some major improvement throughout the year. If not, we need to bring in another DC with some good credentials. At any rate, just check Coach DeLoach's profile on this link. Pretty damn impressive and it would be nice to have him back. http://uclabruins.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl...mediaguide.html
  7. We need to realize that these stats were for one game and not a guarantee of future results. How about we focus on getting some W's before we think about setting statistical records?
  8. I like the scheduling RV has done. Rice is a good series to have along with Air Force. We need as many regional games as possible to gain interest among our fan base. K State is a good one too. A Big 12 school that is beatable. If we could only get away from playing the major powerhouses that are always in the top 5 every year, we could make some serious noise.
  9. I think OSU has too much talent on offense for Troy to keep up. I truly believe the best chance for the Sun Belt to win here would be FAU vs. Minnesota. Bowling Green beat them and they struggled with Miami (OH). http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/teamsched?teamId=135
  10. The same way he was used last season. Why do you think Evan Robertson starting getting all the carries?
  11. Good thing about Navy is that they run the option and really won't exploit our DB's like Bradford and Willis did. Hopefully we will be able to load the box and tee off on the run game.
  12. This is awesome. I can't begin to convey how these kinds of things help on the recruiting trail. Even gives great national attention. When everyday fans go to look at the stats leaderboard, they see the North Texas name. Lets hope he, and Meager for that matter, can continue to produce and our defense can find a way to slow some people down.
  13. Does anyone know TCU's equivalent of gomeangreen.com? I'm trying to get some updates on their program going into their vs. Air Force.
  14. I wonder if J-Mo's situation is truely injury related. I have a hard time believing a hamstring can bother you over three whole seasons. He has plenty of time to rehab and get that thing back into shape. It would be one thing if it is torn or was torn at some point, but this is just tragic. Oh how times have changed in Denton, Texas.
  15. What I like out of this article, and from the quotes from the players is how Dodge's winning attitude is becoming entrenched in our players. I don't ever recall the players saying things like this last year. I feel that our players will take this off week, and the rest of the season for that matter, to continue to improve and get better. Dodge has made if very clear that he expects nothing but to win and I love this new attitude from our program.
  16. Just make sure you bet the over. Easy money!$!$!$!$!$!$!
  17. Damn it, why couldn't Dodge get here one year earlier to have JQ apart of this offense????????
  18. Its my personal feeling that Dodge needs to go out and hire a solid D-coordinator that has some experience at the collegiate level. No knock on Coach Mendoza, but its a whole new ball game. From my understanding, our scheme defensively is way too simple and not condusive to our personel. With the things that we're trying to accomplish with our program, we need someone that bring the Green Curtain of old. Where's DeLoach when you need him?
  19. http://cfn.scout.com/2/677105.html UNT actually gets good props from CFN this week. Great game overall by the offense. Let's keep it rolling into Sun Belt play.
  20. Check out this link. UNT is 33rd in overall total offense and 3rd in passing offense (nationally). This is what gets recruits attention because they realize they will receive national notoriety. Nice to see us somewhere other than than the bottom 10 too. http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/natlRank.jsp?ye...=4&site=org
  21. Early lines have ASU favored over SMU by 3. Good for the Sun Belt to get some respect.
  22. I figured he would get the chance to see more of the field with Strahan's ordeal. Great close up of him mean mugging the Dallas offense right after the break from the two minute warning for those that recorded the game. Hopefully he will continue to see more of the field and continue to prove himself.
  23. The spread on the game appears to be UNT and +17. I think the line is too much. I know this isn't technically a rivalry game but it should be. We beat them last year with a lackluster squad, and we will certainly come out for blood again this year. Both teams desperately need to win. Also, if our o-line does half the job Tech's did, I don't care who is playing QB, they can find someone open. GO MEAN GREEN!
