  1. No doubt in my mind that Dodge has to go. I don't care what argument you say, this is bad. Losing is one thing but losing like this is unacceptable. We have a new stadium coming and we need to generate some genuine excitement around the program otherwise we might lose the fan base. And even as bad as we are, I was proud to see 18k+ still showed up tonight.
  2. Give up 230 yards and 21 points in about 12 minutes of football???????
  3. As bad as things have gotten, keep in mind how the Dickey regime started. '98 = 3-8 '99 = 2-9 '00 = 3-8 Give Dodge some time to recruit some talent on defense. It will take time but hang in there folks..........
  4. Just wanted to get a pulse of how the nation felt coming into the game. Off to a good start, up 10-7!
  5. The spread on the game is 21 points. Please tell me we can stay within three TD's in a conference game. If we can't, boy we've fallen a long way..........
  6. #118 only behind Idaho..... http://cfn.scout.com/2/795310.html
  7. Don't underestimate Rice. The thing that scares me most is they run an offense very similar to Tulsa. They will spread us out and if don't get pressue, it could be a long day of the defense.
  8. The thing that makes the SEC better than any other conference is their depth. You don't have a single game off during conference play. Even Vandy, Kentucky, or the Mississippi schools can sneak up on you and win if you don't show up to play. There is a reason the don't schedule big games out of conference. The reason is b/c they play enough in conference. LSU still has at Auburn(10), at Florida(4), and Georgia(2) and Alabama(9) at home. USC only has one remaining top 25 team left on the schedule, Oregon(17), at home. USC has to schedule big games out of conference b/c its the only way they will get respect. And also, I do believe LSU played V-Tech last season, who was 9 in the nation last year when they played.
  9. They also have Southern Miss at home this weekend. That would be another quality win for them.
  10. http://cfn.scout.com/2/788570.html Good to see more pub for the Belt. I'm just starting to wonder when we will make the headlines (for good reasons that is). Everyone else in the conference has decided its time to play with the big boys. When will we?
  11. I wish I wasn't posting this. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?page=bottom10081
  12. You must be a complete fool. Look at the box score alone and you can see the run was more effective than the pass. We threw the ball a total of 29 times and got a total of 100 yards in the air. That is 3.4 yards per attempt. Take away Vizza's attempts and we ran the ball 21 times for for 123 yards, which comes out to 5.86 yards per attempt. Montgomery averaged 7.9 yards per attempt and Mosley averaged 5.6 yards per attempt. Looks like we should have been trying to run more if you ask me. What it really sounds like is Vizza had no one open except the third and fourth options and had to dump it off all night.
  13. It might be their first game as the Red Wolves but Yahoo! has logo still showing the Indians. Maybe Yahoo! will update our logo someday too. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/boxscore?gid=200808300084
  14. Isn't a little ironic that V-Tech lost on a special teams play. Looks like Bowling Green is on there way to beat Pitt. 27-17 Bowling Green with 9 minutes left and they have the ball.
  15. Thought it would be fun to post thoughts on other Sun Belt games as they happen. For starters, looks like Western Kentucky is struggling vs. Indiana. I know Indiana is much improved and has a good offense but WKU is having a hard to moving the pill. 17-0 Indiana right now about half way thru the second quarter.
  16. Coach Dodge can't emphasize enough how important it will be for Vizza to make good decisions. I agree, Rice does look very beatable and DeLoach's philosophy will play well against them. We just need to limit our mistakes and we can take this one. And I'm also surprised that Willis hasn't gotten any snaps. I guess Jones has decided to take his lumps and get the young guy some PT.
  17. http://cfn.scout.com/2/783282.html FAU currently has pic up on front page and is mentioned in article of teams who made the turn last year. Anytime the Sun Belt gets pub like this, its a good thing.
  18. And they are headed by a damn good ball coach too. He was unjustly ousted at Nebraska. http://ohiobobcats.cstv.com/sports/m-footb...ch_frank00.html

  20. I would say this a very good line. UNT has a chance to keep this close until late. K-State ranked 99th in the nation last year against the pass(1) and Dodge's offense should be much more efficient in its second year. Even Scout.com lists K-State's pass defense as one of its top priorities. "This team will be much better if … it can keep teams under 250 yards passing. The Wildcats held Auburn to 229 yards through the air and almost pulled off the upset. They were 5-1 in the other games when they held the opponent under 250, and was 1-4 when allowing more."(2) 1- http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/2007/Internet/r...7000000327.HTML 2- http://cfn.scout.com/2/750834.html
  21. I know its not football related but I thought it was interesting. Denton is listed by CNNMoney as one of the best small cities in the US. Plus, its a nice pick of square. http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bp.../PL4819972.html
  22. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=273210333 Enough said.
  23. I would not call this "ripping" North Texas but rather holding our athletic director accountable for not doing his ultimate job, which is to ensure each and every STUDENT athlete leaves North Texas with a degree in hand. While the article is a little harsh in its tone, its pretty straight forward and brutally honest. I understand that the football team carries the highest percentage of athletes but to blame the previous regime for the schools academic failures is just flat out not taking the blame for what has happened. Perhaps this is another factor to Dickey's release from the program but its still no excuse for this kind of reprimand from the forces above. Rick V should have seen the trend sooner and as the article states, come up with a more comprehensive layout of how UNT will achieve its end goal; North Texas student athletes graduating from school and becoming leaders in the community.
  24. One thing that sticks out to me, and is not UNT related, is UT being the second highest scoring team since 2000. The reason I say that is UT fans seem to love talking about how terrible an offensive coordinator Greg Davis yet the stats don't lie here. Texas fans always whine when things aren't perfect, so Davis gets a lot of unwarranted blame when they don't win.
  25. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=Ao3V...o&type=lgns Seems like McKelvin is getting no love since he played in the Sun Belt. My take, talent is talent regardless of where they played. DeMarcus Ware anyone?
