  1. What sucks about the Hawaii bowl is the date. Its December 24th. So airfare jumps from 500 round trip to 1000.
  2. Get unmercifully crushed by Oklahoma and lose their bowl game?
  3. To take this another direction. If I’m Tech I would take Neal Brown over Littrell. He has a better resume and won convincingly in a head to head competition.
  4. Agree. If Seth continues on his current path its not a matter of if but when he will leave. I just think that an objective analysis would indicate that waiting for something bigger than Tech would be smart. Even the vaunted Mike Leach averaged about 5 losses a season and never had a top 20 recruiting class. (If memory serves)
  5. If I was the Littrell's my thought process would go like this: The kids are are getting old enough that constantly moving them is more and more difficult. Would you rather raise a family in the DFW Metroplex and or in Lubbock? Lubbock is 7 1/2 hours away from Muskogee while Denton is 3 1/2 hours away. Turning down 3 million dollars seems asinine but everything is in place to stay in Denton for as long as they want and current salary trajectory would have base at 2 million in the next few years. Now that it is proven that recruits and fans will come to Denton. There is no reason to worry about waiting for a dream job to come up. Texas Tech is not a dream job. My intuition tells me if the Tech job is offered he will take it but for the reasons I stated above it is not a given.
  6. Personally I hope SMU looks great against TCU. I hope all of our opponents win all of their games except one.
  7. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think we managed to lose that game.
  8. @UNTLifer has me converted. I thought the bands march through the hill was pathetic. Only the drum line played. A drum lined that looked smaller than usual. The rest of the band was just jacking around displaying zero showmanship. Why in the world would you not play something to get the fans whipped up as you march through the tailgating area?
  9. Hey I hear ya and I am excited to watch this team. Still my post was ultimately about expectations. This team can be better this year and still not manage to win the conference or a bowl. The truth is we were not competitive in those games and the biggest reason for that was our lack of size. I don't see how that could have changed from then until now. Literally everything surrounding this program is pointed in the right direction. I am no UNT90. My green colored glasses are strapped on tight and the future looks bright.
  10. Well, considering our performance in the championship and bowl games I think you have a good reason to be nervous. In all honesty I don't see this being a special season. We have a good coach and good quarterback so a floor of 6 wins is easy to see but there is nothing to indicate this is a break out year. That will come with better recruiting. Thankfully that is finally happening at UNT. Better years are on the horizon. As for this year, give me a win against SMU and a bowl game and I will be content. Don't get me wrong 14-0 would be just fine too!
  11. https://houston.sportsmap.com/where-does-your-team-rank-among-texas-schools-heading-into-2018-college-football-season/
  12. The only time I brought an RV I pulled in Friday and left Sunday morning. There was no Electric at that time but sounds they have made some improvements.
  13. My wife went to Ohio State. She is pretty supportive and does not complain much about my Houston to Dallas drives during football season. She knows Mean Green gear makes the best Christmas gifts. And usually joins me for a game or two. That said, I can tell she and her Ohio State parents think rooting for a team that can’t compete for National Championship is silly. Sidenote: my inlaws pay more for four season tickets at the top of the horseshoe than I do for four club seats at UNT. Screw that.
  14. You get to watch commercials and pay 5 dollars. It's a real win win.
  15. “UNT raised $8.9 million for athletics in its last report for a fiscal year. That total far surpasses the previous record of $4.7 million.” best line in an article loaded with good news.
  16. Better idea. The School and Mason should encourage members of the Cherokee nation to come to games. Give them all free tickets. I think it would be awesome to have a big following of Cherokee that came to every game and adopt the Mean Green. We could have a designated tailgate area where they could do a war dance before each game serving the purpose of pumping up UNT fans while also educating the public of their traditions and culture.
  17. i just got back from our Alaskan cruise. While on the boat I had a UNT shirt on my back and sure enough ran into another alumni. It never fails if you are far away and sporting some gear you will find one.
  18. As a long time board member I have always wondered if the Ray thing was a shtick. If not did they find Ray? If so I am just gullible. Little help here.
  19. Can someone explain to me like I am 5 why Arkansas state is getting so much love? They lost to Nebraska, SMU, Troy, South Alabama and Middle Tenn. with no wins that step out and some are giving them top 25 votes. What am I missing?
  20. Well it is July. Guess it's time to drag the UT game back out.
  21. It's all about the money. I have always said that this program would go nowhere until it found more donors and more season ticket buyers. They have done both to some extent and have increased the student fee. This extra money is proving transformational.
  22. I remember when Mac used to cry about how hard it was to recruit to North Texas. Turns out Mac, you just need to be good at your job. For me this recruiting class shows that Littrell is the complete package. I sure hope he stays for a long long time.
