He carried us on one leg the entire season. If we lost the game because one player decided to make a decision in their best interest, then we deserved to lose the game.

It was absolutely in his best interest to skip the bowl game. He was hurt almost all year. The extra rest will help him on tryouts and NFL camps. I don't blame him at all for the chance to get to an NFL team. It is a chance, both career wise and monetarily, of a lifetime.

Yes we've recruited extremely well. Losing these recruits reflects badly on our coaching staff. The two are not mutually exclusive.

I respect the hell out of McCarney, but he didn't ride off into the sunset. He crashed it into the ground, after the bowl game, with very few survivors (Jeff Wilson being one of the survivors). If you're going to coach G5 long term, you have to understand the turnover, especially now with the transfer portal (though again, not sure many G5 programs are going to win on the transfer portal, we certainly haven't).

Funny thing, they probably had a better chance at getting paid in college as stars at a smaller school then being buried in the depth chart at a larger school. I wish them the best but I'm astounded that they may be leaving.
