  1. That has to be the most thankless job in college football. They have 7-8 automatic losses on their schedule every year, and fans and administration that don't seem to understand that Baylor should be in CUSA or the MWC where they could be competitive every year. I guess once they got addicted to the Big XII revenue stream, it became impossible to pull away from it. I thought Morriss was a good fit for them. I don't know where they would go for an upgrade.
  2. I watched Cedar Hill play Lamar last night, so I wish I had seen this earlier so I could give a better scouting report. Anyway, they called his name a fair amount, and Cedar Hill held a pretty good Lamar running game to 4 total yards. Their front seven controlled things pretty well, though their DB's were burned quite a bit.
  3. Please send me the recipe for the Green Koolaid you are drinking, and let me know where you got the Green tinted glasses you are wearing. Let's win 1 game first, please.
  4. Whenever I watch Navy, I can't help but think that DD could have created the same type of thing here with all the RB's we've had come through. The creativity of the offense is amazing, and every bit as fun to watch as the spread. There are also tons of Texas HS quarterbacks that would thrive in an offense like that that we could have recruited. Instead, we got the DD offense. Sad.
  5. And we're the pillow fight of the week again...... The Bottom 10 inspirational thought of the week: Instant Karma's gonna get you Gonna knock you off your feet Better recognize your brothers Ev'ryone you meet Why in the world are we here Surely not to live in pain and fear Why on earth are you there When you're ev'rywhere Come and get your share -- John Lennon, "Instant Karma" The Imagine Peace Tower on Videy island in Iceland was unveiled on Tuesday on what would have been John Lennon's 67th birthday. A beam of light radiates from a wishing well bearing the words "imagine peace" in 24 languages. During the unveiling ceremony, Yoko Ono urged the world to give peace a chance. The Bottom 10 is all about giving peace a chance. The Bottom 10 also would like to display a message from its wishing well. Our beacon would welcome all teams to visit. The light certainly has shined on USC over the past five seasons. The Trojans have won Pac-10 and national titles. They've been to the Rose Bowl and Orange Bowl. USC has been a Power 16 regular. The Trojans are stars on signing day. But something was missing from the Trojans' résumé. Thanks to Stanford, that's about to change. The Bottom 10 welcomes USC to the highly coveted No. 5 spot. Come and get your share. The 41-point favorite Trojans suffered a 24-23 loss to the Cardinal in the Coliseum on Saturday. Talk about your double fantasy -- both USC and UCLA (Week 3 ) have visited the Bottom 10's No. 5 spot this season. When it comes to surprises, results among the bottom of the football barrel have mirrored the shockers in the top 25 rankings. Bottom 10 regulars Temple, Rice, Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisiana-Monroe all won over the weekend to earn an escape. Even new Bottom 10 favorite Notre Dame is no longer around. The Irish beat UCLA on Saturday. Maybe teams looking for a way off the Bottom 10 should start scheduling trips to L.A.? Florida International, which has lost a Div. I-A-worst 18 straight games, remains No. 1. The Panthers are joined by the other four I-A teams still searching for their first win of the season. We'll let the songs of John Lennon guide us through the latest edition of the Bottom 10. But don't forget to catch the pillow fight of the week: Louisiana-Monroe at North Texas. Have a comment about the Bottom 10 ranking? Send us your thoughts. So, with apologies to Steve Harvey, here's the Bottom 10: ESPN.com's Bottom 10 RANK TEAM RECORD COMMENT 1. FIU 0-6 "Imagine": Imagining no possessions isn't hard for the Panthers to do. They have lost 18 straight games. 2. North Texas 0-5 "(Just Like) Starting Over": Making the coaching move from high school to college is just like starting over for Todd Dodge -- and the Mean Green's record is proof. 3. Marshall 0-5 "What You Got": You don't know what you got, until you lose it. The Herd have been reminded six straight times. 4. Utah State 0-6 "How Do You Sleep?": After losing 12 straight games, the answer to that question is probably not very well. 5. USC 4-1 "Instant Karma": If a Tree falls on the Trojans in front of 85,125 in the Coliseum, you can bet that the Bottom 10 will hear about it.. 6. Colorado State 0-5 "Whatever Gets You Through The Night": After losing 12 straight games, the Rams probably will try anything at this point. 7. Idaho 1-5 "You Are Here": The Vandals are here because their only win is a seven-point escape against I-AA Cal Poly. 8. Louisiana Tech 1-4 "Nobody Loves You (When You Are Down And Out)": LSU is ranked No. 1. Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisiana-Monroe won on Saturday. Doubt the Bulldogs are getting much love these days. 9. Northern Illinois 1-5 "Remember": The Huskies went to bowl games in 2004 and 2006. After Saturday's loss to Temple, that must feel like a long time ago in DeKalb. 10. NC State 1-5 "Isolation": Boston probably doesn't feel as isolated to Tom O'Brien these days. While BC is 6-0, his Pack have not beaten a I-A team in 2007. Waiting list: Clemson's special teams, Duke (1-5), Iowa State (1-5), Louisville's defense, Middle Tennessee (1-5), Minnesota (1-5), SMU (1-4), Syracuse (1-5) and UAB (1-4). 6. Thank goodness we didn't schedule a I-AA team like ULaLa did - I would hate to see Texas State or McNeese State hang 50+ points on us this year...
  7. My head says no way we win, my heart says we find a way. UNT 35 ULL 34
  8. I started this thread during a very frustrating part of the Arkansas game. I didn't realize it would last this long, and I apologize for the negativeness it has fostered. Please let this thread die, and let's get ready for the ULaLa game Saturday. Thank you.
  9. I'll venture to say this is the worst defense I've seen in my 27 years of following the program. I'll go a little further and say that Dickey's last two teams could have beaten this one because they could stop someone every once in a while. Historical perspective, anyone?
  10. On touchdown #5, his arm was hit as he was throwing, and the ball still went 50 yards in the air to an open receiver. That showed me everything I needed to see about arm strength. He's about a 2" growth spurt away from being a top 10 national QB recruit. I can live with that.
  11. I am really tired of the death penalty excuse continuing on 20 years later. The current SMU program is no better or worse than it has been since the 60's, except for the 5 year "Glory Days" period where they bought their entire team and cheated their way into the spotlight. For SMU to even honor their 1982 team at our game is sickening. I give SMU credit for resisting the temptation to buy their way back into the top 25, so far. But to continue to pull out the excuse that the NCAA ruined SMU argument 20 year later covers up the fact that they have been a struggling program (like us) for a long time. It's time for them to deal with fan apathy and mediocre results head-on. I think that's what we're trying to do here.
  12. We win 34-28, as the defense begins to find itself a little bit. I still worry about Meager's mistakes, but we'll find a way to overcome them. I'll put the attendance at 22,500. I have close to 20 in my group, which is way more than we've ever gotten together before. Lots of 1st timers, which is encouraging. We'll see Vizza for a couple of series, but I think Meager has earned the right to run this thing for a while.
  13. Funny, I was more concerned about Venegas keeping his butt still after the ball was snapped. Corey Muse pretty much ran by him all game.
  14. I have four in Sec F Row 15 Seats 23-26. Our friends have four in Sec F, Row 16 Seats 23-26.
  15. Any nominees for the non-BCS Cinderella this year? Boise has a loss already and TCU has two. No one else comes to mind except South Florida.
  16. My favorite stat: Brandon Jackson 2005 17 catches 2006 17 catches 2007 17 catches in 2 games He must be pinching himself to make sure this isn't a dream. I'm really happy to see him finally get to use his talent.
  17. I have 2 available, section 225. Call me at 817-980-6555 if you need them --Tom
  18. This could be ugly. MUTS seems primed for one of their all-too-frequent collapses, and Brohm is trying to win a Heisman this year. MUTS did play them well last year. We'll hope for the best, fear the worst.
  19. Not having Cam Montgomery at the level that we all thought he would be is really going to hurt us. He was the supposed to be the crown jewel of the recruiting class, and he doesn't get mentioned in any running back talk. What happened?
  20. Willis looks the way he did in our game last year, and they don't seem to have a real coherent offensive game plan. It looks like their defense can be beat with an up-tempo passing game, but I don't know if we have the personnel to pull it off. Harrell gets in trouble when he holds the ball too long, but he's killing them with the slants. It's driving me crazy to see our score scroll across the bottom every 5 minutes.
  21. It looks like Awasom made it with the Giants, and Kassel and Spencer stuck with the Jets. With Brian Waters, we're starting the year with 5 in the NFL. I can't remember a time recently where we have had that many.
  22. What hurts PC's chances is that Dolphin management has already been ripped over passing up Brady Quinn and reaching for Ted Ginn with the 9th pick. They can't afford to admit that they also wasted their 3rd round pick on Booker, even though PC has shown more than he has.
  23. All of the press leading up to game said that they weren't sure of their RB's, but the quarterbacks were set. I don't know how you can evaluate runners with: Brown 6 carries Chatman 3 carries Booker 1 carry Cobbs 1 carry but you let your 3rd string quarterback throw 22 times. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't like the way this is playing out for PC. Brown is in, Chatman has done enough to make the team, and they used a 3rd round pick on Booker (even if he hasn't done anything). If they didn't want to see any more of PC than that, I'm not sure how encouraging that is.
