  1. Well.......when comparing QBs across eras, I don't think it works very well. Steve Ramsey as an example, set the UNT TD record. (69 in 3 years) He also set the UNT int. record. He would often air it out on 3rd downs. He might get a long completion or throw a 50 yard int. A 50 yard int. on 3rd down doesn't hurt since there would have been a 40 yard punt on the next play. Picks in a short passing game will do you in every time for obvious reasons
  2. Since we have disagreements over UNT QBs, how about a composite. 1. Arm strength Dajon Williams 2. Foot speed Ryle Dodge 3. Ball management Scott Hall 4. Physical toughness Giovanni Vizza 5. Mental toughness Derek Thompson 6. Most savvy Steve Ramsey OK Coach Frankenstein, make your own list.
  3. By having a bad record we get to pick higher in the draft. Oh wait, that's only in pro sports like the SEC ....... I mean the NFL. Never mind.
  4. If a dad of a potential UNT QB recruit reads this forum's bashing of a former bowl MVP QB who holds most of the school records, it might give him pause for thought. Would he really want his son subjected to this? Since DT is coaching at a school we will try to recruit in the future, It seems to me that continuing to bash him after he is gone is pretty dumb.

  6. Anybody else missing Derek Thompson? DW just needs more time. There is a learning curve to all this.
  7. 5 things I took away from this game: 1. Acid reflux 2. Self-loathing 3. Poor self esteem 4. Insomnia 5. A hangover
  8. 5 things I took away from this game. 1. Dajon, a RS freshman starting against a Big 10 school on the road, looked better at the end of the game than at the beginning of the game. He could have folded but didn't. He kept his composure. I'll be excited to watch him for next 4 years. 2. As the recievers get on the same page with the QB, the passing game could be really good. 3. Our defense must jell quickly if we are to make a solid bowl run. 4. I would like to see more of our speed backs. Evans had 1 carry for 7 yards. 5. Our best football is ahead of us.
  9. If you remove that game we would be tied for 24th with UCF (9 sacks in 3 games), not in the low 50s. Most of the 23 teams ahead of us also played FCS teams and also padded their stats, If you remove all FCS games from the equation, we would probably be a few places higher than 24th. That aside, it's nice to be #1 in sacks. GMG
  10. I know. I was just staying local with the 4 teams in our area. I wonder if smu and Houston are having second thoughts. smu's next 3 home games are against Cincinnati, Memphis, and South Florida. They should look on the bright side...no waiting in line at the concession stand.
  11. After watching Tulsa lose to Texas State last night, I looked up the records of the CUSA defectors. Tulane 1 - 4 Their only win was against SE Louisiana. Tulsa 1 - 3 Their only win was in 2OT against Tulane. smu 0 - 4 They have lost by a total of 12 - 202. Houston 2 - 2 They lost to UTSA 27 - 7. Total 4 - 13 The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.
  12. When I threw Windmill out there the other day, I also had Captain Cool on that list. I like Captain Cool as he is cool and calm at the helm. Other thoughts: Neon Dajon All Da jon Jet Stream (Both his passes and runs get there fast) End Zone or The Zone or Da Zone (12 series with Dajon resulting in 70 pts so far this year) The Answer ( 42 series with the other QBs resulting in 43 pts.....that was the question)
  13. By my count, Captain Cool has been at the helm on 12 drives this year and piloted UNT to 70 pts. and 10 TDs. (I didn't count the 2 plays to run out the clock to end the half.) He is cool and calm when he has the ball. Impressive.
  14. In Dajon we hope. Last chance Williams Papa 'jon Windmill Williams Hot dog Williams Captain Cool or DJ cool......He seems pretty calm when he has the ball.
  15. 11 - 0 speaks volumes about the comparative strengths of the 5 conferences. CUSA had some 6 or 7 competitive games against P5 schools and came up short. Would you rather have a CUSA school with a win over a P5 and be 10 - 17 like the AAC or 11 - 18 like the SBC? 19 wins at week 3 should translate into more bowl eligible teams for CUSA. The lack of wins by the other conferences at this point will probably hurt them at bowl time as fewer teams will be eligible.
  16. Here are the won - loss records of the non P5 conferences. (If I added it up right) 19 - 19 CUSA 16 - 17 MW (If Nevada continues to lose to Arizona & Hawaii beats N. Iowa) 14 - 23 MAC 11 - 18 SBC 10 - 17 AAC (smu, Tulsa, Houston, Tulane......3 - 8.... Make your own joke:)
  17. Now FIU - Pittsburgh FIU 16 Pittsburgh 7 Fox1 5:00 S Miss at Alabama ESPN2 6:00 UTSA at Okla St FSSW 8:00 Rice at T A&M ESPN2
  18. Shouldn't it be Ginger (Vegas baby) or Mrs. Thurstan Howell III (old money)? Ginger was a nice three hour tour that gave us bragging rights. Seeing the reaction of Thurstan Howell III and the banishment of the skipper were priceless.
  19. Now that smu has an interim coach and an uncertain coaching future, some of their recruits must be having second thoughts. How many will flip? Just saying.....
  20. When was the last time we could say that. Those "body bag" games are about to become "opportunity" games.
  21. You need to check out the DMN. UNT dominated the front page of the college sports section with a big photo, etc. The entire back page was also UNT with 4 more photos. Not only that, all the stories sounded like they were written by UNT fans. It's great reading. If you work with any smu fans, (if there are any left) it would be fun to take it to work.
  22. P5 schools pull for the other teams in their conference. They know if they take losses to non P5 schools it makes their conference look weak. They also understand how the polls look at the strength of their conference when it ranks the teams. Its hard to get a high ranking if you play in a weak conference because they discount the wins. The Big East lost too many games to other conferences which led to their downfall. The Mountain West became a little too good and the P5's gobbled up some teams and left them a weakened conference. UNT needs the other CUSA schools to win as many nonconference games as possible. You want to be ranked and taken seriously? Then win in a serious conference. I'm pulling for every team in CUSA when they are not playing us. If CUSA becomes a threat to P5s, they will take a couple of teams and leave the conference weaker.
