Wow! 14 - 13 UTSA after that kind of start?
-
Don't preclude the possibility that our defense will score.
-
Try something totally outside the box. Play all 4 QBs. Each QB gets gets a series. If he scores he gets another series. Pretty radical idea for sure.
-
Isn't it strange how things look differently with the passage of time...like Derek Thompson's quarterbacking ability after one night.
-
2 stats that stuck out: UH rushed 23 times for -26 yards. Minus 26 yards? UH only score came with 1:04 left in the game.

Who was the best Juco transfer QB to play at UNT?

Beat Texas and he will become an instant legend.....one that will be talked about for the next 50 years. -
Chancellor because I like to watch UNT highlights on TV. Trice because I like to watch train wrecks.

I think UT can be had. Our problem is lack of experience. We are still in a building process, but not a rebuilding process. I have a strong hunch that our freshmen skilled position players will turn out to be the real deal. Time will tell.

Coach Mccarney state of the Mean Green Address
casual fan replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
Both the DL and the LB's on last years team were bigger than in 2010. Since I don't know exactly who the starters will be this year I used the starters from the end of last year. It will be interesting to see how the depth chart shakes out once the season starts. I'm glad to see that this coaching staff knew how to coach the left over Dodge recruits as the other staff didn't. Just another reason to like Mac. -

You need to update your weights as they have grown. Even that second string 230 pound DT is now 261. The real question is can they play. -

Just a point on size and speed. Last regular season game 2010 Starting front seven (DL and LB) - 248.4 Last regular season game 2013 - 256.4 Plus 8 lbs per man heavier Starting OL averaged 7.6 lbs heavier. Skilled positions averaged 5.2 lbs heavier -
How about a T shirt with "Book'em whorns" on one side and "Beat Texsa" on the other. Make it green with a white UNT logo over the heart.

Wow.....on every other page. The OU fan who registered the domain name was pretty slick and his post was really funny. Did you also notice the page that The Washington Post used as an example was for Joe Bergeron? What irony.

Elkhart's Jeffrey Wilson will compete in Tuesday's All-Star Fo
casual fan replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
He can definitely catch the ball. There was little run blocking as the rbs had to get past 2 or 3 definsive players just to get back to the line of scrimmage. He had a big loss on his last carry as he had no chance. He looked really good on his other 3 carries. On one he slipped a tackle 5 yards deep and stiff armed a 2nd guy about 3 yards deep and got to the outside for a 9 yard gain. He could be really good, -
UTSA had a much better schedule last year for attendance purposes. However, they had nothing to play for. If we are both playing for the CUSA west championship the last game of the year, it will be their largest attendance of the season. Mean Green Nation will travel for a game like that in San Antonio.

Easy choice. Beating smu gives us a leg up on them in the media and recruiting. However, in reality it would mostly be just for the satisfaction of seeing their reaction.

What's the problem? I have easily gained 10 lbs over a 3 month period on numerous occasions. I go on the "see food" diet. ( I eat every time I see food.)
-
No, they only said we are an "in-state opponent" the Roadrunners play just before they secure their first birth in a C-USA championship game. We go 9-4, win a bowl game big, and we are still trying to get respect. I'm understanding Rodney Dangerfield more and more by the day. Payback is a bitch. Go Mean Green

Brett Vito Part I: Can UNT football maintain momentum
casual fan replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
DT keeps being debated, but when was the last time a QB from UNT was invited to an NFL camp? Watch out for the freshmen. I think some of them will play and do it in a big way. Just a gut feeling. -
I threw the 64 team playoff thing out there for 2 reasons: 1. It could be worked into the bowl system and be completed in about the same time frame. 2. It would give schools not in a Big 5 conference a chance at the national championship. Face it, there is no way the powers that be would ever give a school outside of the Big 5 a shot at the title. They really don't like the Boises of the world messing up their party.
-
So your saying Alabama and LSU are not professionals. I learn something new every day.
-
If it expanded to 64 teams and the playoffs began the 2nd week of December, before the end of the month there would only be 8 teams left. It could be done in basically the same time frame as the bowls. Teams could play through the existing bowl system with the Rose Bowl (as an example) being last. Or they could let the bowls bid on the different rounds.
-
If Derek Thompson makes the team and 3 years down the road ends up being a successful starter, the reaction on this forum will be interesting. Some will be excitedly cheering him on. Others will still be criticizing him for overthrowing a receiver in the 2nd quarter of a 27-17 Denver win.

How to talk to your kids about Aaron Hernandez
casual fan replied to emmitt01's topic in Mean Green Football
You have to explain things to them at their level. When my son was about 5, we were watching TV and there was this car chase. The car being chased crashed and the driver got out and ran as the police opened fire at him. My son asked me "Daddy, were they shooting at that man because he was speeding?" He knew that you could get in trouble for speeding as my wife would sometimes get after me for that.
