  1. I really want to see the team come out focused and ready from the tip off. The last few games have seemed like we have been sluggish to start, let's hope we are focused 100% today. GMG!
  2. So you'd rather get some extra revenue to the detriment of the team's development? The team learns nothing from these games, the fans don't show up, and it makes our schedule weaker. Wyoming is at least from a respected conference and it should be the type of teams we play to continue to raise our profile. Here's the teams that have recently gone to Wyoming: Nebraska, Oregon, Washington State, Missouri, Tulsa. Future home opponents: Texas Tech, BYU, Utah, Arizona. When have we ever had anyone of that calibre come to Apogee? But we are too good to play Wyoming?
  3. I thought that too, but then I remembered the deep runs Houston has made/probably will make that will stay with the AAC.
  4. My mistake on the 2-1. Also I didn't ask if you watch college football, @El Paso Eagle did. No those two aren't equal. Playing an FCS at home does nothing for us, no one knows those teams or their reputation. Wyoming isn't a marquee team that everyone will know, but it's better than TSU or ACU any year. This is pretty simple to solve, make a thread with a poll to see who prefers an FCS at home vs a 1-1 with an FBS team and you'll see how alone you are in your thinking.
  5. Bell was the kind of player you are lucky to find a few times in your career as a coach. Just an absolute physical monster. There was a reason very few players could guard him.
  6. How are likes on a post any type of determining factor? You're reasoning is mind boggling. There are 0 FCS schools that would get the interest of the fanbase. We have played them regularly and they don't draw well. How did beating Texas Southern last year help us in any way? Any home and home with an FBS team is better than a 2-1 with any FCS.
  7. Houston is at capacity so they are selling out every game. TCU I agree, they started slow and only brought in fans when they started winning. But you know what's nice about that? The fans showed up when the team was winning.
  8. Yes it is better to play the MWC schools than FCS, and the vast majority of this thread agrees.
  9. Abou has just been in a slump recently. We all know he can do better, he just needs to snap out of it. Sissoko has improved tremendously, and we are all enjoying watching him do it, but he is not the scoring threat Ousmane has been for us in many games. What Sissoko has been getting lately is where he should be IMO, with minutes increasing as he continues to get better.
  10. Grey unis... don't let the uniform color sticklers see...
  11. FAU winning would show we are going into the conference ready to compete.
  12. So we've basically caught up to USF. They haven't advanced past the last doorway, while we've just arrived at the landing. I think it's a good indication that the program has had an upward trajectory. We may not have gotten here as fast as most of us would have liked, but we are here now. Outside of a very rare few these things don't happen overnight, so it's in UNT's hands to prove they belong in the next tier otherwise we will be like USF and stuck on the final step.
  13. This might be the single most insane thing ever posted on this site. Please tell me you are on some type of pain medication because this is so far from reality that it's the only explanation.
  14. Agree. I think my post was a little bit unclear, which is my fault. I am in the camp that thinks a smaller 7-8k arena with suites, and club level is the way to go. My post was in reference to people arguing that reducing capacity is bad or will make us look small time. Big brand programs are reducing theirs for the very reasons you stated, and if it's good enough for them it should be good enough for us. The NFL could make stadiums seat 100k and sell out games, but they realize 70k-80k is the sweet spot. You make more money from suites/club seating, while also having enough demand that regular seats sell out too.
  15. I hope the team and all of the fans see this as a chance to prove who we are. We are not seen as a strong team and we have been left out of the NCAAT twice now with very good records. But it's rare that you get to go out there and prove them wrong, grab this chance by the horns and show them we are a great team. Keep grinding and winning these types of tournaments and we will be able to change our perception.
  16. The NATIONAL champions Baylor decided to reduce capacity for a better arena, so I don't really know what people's argument is at this point.
  17. Yeah Baylor's are definitely further away. As much as all of us would like to have these facilities closer we should be thankful we have land and aren't having to do build something offsite. And talking about signage can we get rid of this? Am I the only one that thinks it looks like kids restaurant or a bowling alley?
  18. Yeah I think we are married to the whole "athletic village" whether people like it or not. Once Fouts moved across the highway it was not possible to keep other things from moving over there. There just simply isn't enough space to expand unless UNT was willing to buy a considerable size of land from private owners.
  19. How soon can we peel the CUSA logos off the court? 😅
  20. Looking at the master plan again and taking a guess, the only 2 options of keeping a new arena on that side is to place it where the current Super Pit is, or place it where Fouts was. The only problem I see with that is I don't think you have the space to do an all-in-1 building, as they have said they want to do an arena, with 2 basketball practice courts and a volleyball facility. That's a pretty large footprint for a building.
  21. I'm not sure if they all live at Victory, I would assume so since I thought all student athletes live there, but that's a good question. Agree about the dorms needing to be taller. It seems like we are in a perpetual state of not enough housing.
  22. The big problem is the players who use the facility everyday are going to have to shuttle to use the court? I don't think it's smart to trade the convenience of the players for the convenience of the students. They can go from their dorms, to the weight room, to the arena, and to a team meeting in a short walk. The master plan has more dorms planned by Traditions and Santa Fe Square, and a 2nd dorm behind Victory. Dark yellow is existing dorms, and light yellow are planned/suggested dorms: Here is an overall plan for all new buildings: The site you are talking about next to the BSM is supposed to be another large parking garage. Looking at everything I think it would be odd to have a new arena so isolated from everything else. If I had no money restrictions and could do whatever I wanted I would build the arena where the AD master plan says, but I would cover I-35 like the did in downtown Dallas and connect the 2 parts of campus like so: Now students and everyone else could easily walk across to both FB or BB.
  23. Seems like it because Vanderbilt was also surprised to be a 2 after being told they were a 3.
