  1. Speaking from a purely feasibility standpoint, I'd find that scenario in those terms extremely unlikely if only because of the massive amount of red tape they would have to go through. From bowl tie-in contracts, tv, licensing, CFP pay outs, basketball credits, and all of the other little things we aren't even aware of. Ending contracts early is usually an expensive ordeal. I just don't see them able to get through a mountain of issues to make it happen.
  2. Haha, we didn't really have a choice about that though, vs voluntarily scheduling them.
  3. IIRC it's because they use cut blocks, from wiki for those who don't know: There's a higher risk of injury to players .
  4. I don't know how to search old posts, but I was trying to find a post I made a year or so ago about the ACC being a possibility in the next shake up. That we would have about a decade to make our case and show we could by like UCF or Houston, and make a real investment into athletics. If teams leave the ACC the AAC will become the prime target to backfill unless they can get UCF/WV/Cincy to join. I don't see a way the AAC poaches the ACC.
  5. If this has any real legs, maybe things do play out in those worst case scenarios. I've been skeptical that the PAC would dissolve, or that it only has a small chance of losing the 4 corners schools, but ION tv?
  6. Wild. Whats even more surprising is I thought it would just be easy for Nike to make new ones fairly easily. Unless this is all some elaborate rick roll and I'm just not getting it.
  7. It's just a joke highlighting how superstitious we are. 😂
  8. No, it's because @CMJ didn't do the thread title. It's the cursed formatting.
  9. Tough night shooting, we looked unprepared and unfocused. Worst 3 point shooting night of the season? The most frustrating thing was all the chances we didn't even get to take because of turnovers. Overall it doesn't change the fact that we need to win the tournament to go to the dance, let's just hope we can use this game to remember that going forward.
  10. Virginia was an eye opener for me too. I thought for sure we would have 8-9k fans there. IMO we need to change our train of thought that better opponents will bring more fans, because you are hanging your hopes that outside forces will dictate how many fans show up. Charlotte, FAU, UAB, etc., will still be in our conference so we would essentially be saying we will expect lower attendance for those games. Instead we should focus on building the fanbase so we have a rock solid foundation of fans that want to see North Texas basketball, regardless of who the opponent is. Some programs might give us a nice boost, if they are ranked or are big names, but again you are relying on things out of your control. Instead we need to focus on what we can do, and that's reaching out to UNT fans, promoting games, and building our own fanbase.
  11. Excited to be entering the AAC. We really need to seize this chance by the horns and turn our on field performance around. I expect Morris to have a short leash, and if by year 3 he isn't getting it done he will be out the door. Of course I want him to be playing for championships, and hoping he takes us to the top.
  12. They even branded things on the field with it: Say what you want but that's great, proactive marketing.
  13. The biggest issue is those empty seats are happening when we are in the best era of basketball in our history.
  14. Yes, Martinez is on his last year of eligibility.
  15. I think the early season struggles were natural from all of the turnover from last year. Bell was a huge loss, you just don't find players like that very often. McBride was a great shooter and good for double digits almost every game, and Murray was a defensive wall. Jones is no longer starting this season, so you have 1 player returning in the starting line up in Ousmane. With so many changes it's going to take time to iron out the details. Most of it to me is learning Mac's system and the players learning each other's tendencies so they get comfortable playing together. I'm hoping next year we have a little more consistency as we should only be losing Eady from the starting lineup.
  16. Because it's better to be set in your defensive scheme than try to contest the ball rolling in. Sending a player up to challenge the roll in, which would usually be the point guard, might stretch the court out and allow another one of their players to move up uncontested into the space they leave.
  17. Yeah you could tell they were pretty riled up in the stands.
  18. I was so excited about the win it made me forget that this was the worst called game I've seen all year. Every home announcer is going to favor their team, but these guys were straight up homers. Whining about every call, I specifically remember the play where Ousmane and two UTEP guys fell going for the a rebound, and they were saying it was a foul. They showed the replay and the guy's own teammate hit him going down, but they still talked about Ousman fouling him. Oh and they were asking, "Why is that ref blowing his whistle. It seems suspicious that McCasland just talked to him and they get a foul."Knowing you are on a broadcast stream with both sets of fans watching have some gd integrity and dial it back a bit.
  19. Terrible reffing all around. Can't even fight for the ball without getting it called a foul. The technical really made the refs whistle happy.
  20. The bench came up huge in this game. Lets Go Mean Green!!!
  21. Not growing as much as it should be. @keith has been tracking attendance and we are most likely finishing lower than last year on average. We've only average 325 more people per game this year vs last, and we have 5 seasons of winning basketball. This team should be averaging 6k a game.
  22. How cool would it be to do a throwback night for basketball? They could recreate this classic floor (with the modern green of course) and wear vintage uniforms.
  23. I was at that game, really good crowd and energy. Those baggy uniforms from that era look ridiculous now. 😂
