  1. With Ousmane gone that gives us 5 scholarships?
  2. As a said in the other thread we should wait for concrete news and here it is. Transferring definitely seems like something was going on. It's a top priority to keep Sissoko now.
  3. Until some news or confirmed evidence we should refrain from spreading rumors about a player. I know people want to know, but it is not a good look.
  4. We've got to stop viewing losing coaches a bad thing. There's two paths here, you are either losing a coach because they were excellent, or you are firing a coach because they failed. I'd pick the first one every time. Until we get in the realm of $3m a year we will always be a target for schools with bigger budgets. Mac gave us the best BB in our history, and set the foundation for continued success. It's up to UNT to keep that going and not waste it away.
  5. What a great game! Our flight was delayed due to storms and wind in Las Vegas, so we were nervous about time. We thought we were going to get a nice and easy lead up to the game with plenty of time, after rushing out of the airport and sitting in 5pm traffic we made it to the tailgate. I can't express how grateful I am for the Alumni Association hosting the event, we literally had no time to eat or do anything else and this really saved our butts. Thank you to the organizers of the tailgate. Screamed and yelled the whole time UAB had the ball, it was a great atmosphere. I was nervous the game would go into OT since the latest flight I could get was 10:30pm, luckily we got to stay the whole time and see the trophy presentation, but sadly didn't get to see them cutting the nets down. I had to work Friday so we were forced to leave that night. I got to bed at around 1:30am, and got up at 5:30am. Rough, but it was so worth it!! Go Mean Green!!! NIT Champs!
  6. Flight booked and tickets bought. I have work Friday, but I'm doing a whirlwind trip to see this game.
  7. I should have clarified, by facilities I meant training courts, locker rooms, player lounges, training facilities, team meeting rooms, etc. FAU caught lightning in a bottle, I wouldn't be surprised of some big donors came out to try and keep that success going.
  8. But how much of a role do facilities play for recruiting? I'd wager a lot. Being able to consistently pull in recruits is a key part to building long term success.
  9. Toughest Team WINS!!! Go Mean Green!!
  10. I saw that too. Lots of hate on social media which I kind of expected. What I find weird is the in-game announcers seem very dismissive of FAU in a way I hadn't seen before. They seem to focus on what the other team should be doing, what shots they miss, what plays they make, etc. FFS they had Nowell's brother mice'd up in the stands, which is ridiculous. I think I've heard them say, "FAU is not going away." a few times, but I haven't heard anyone say, "FAU is playing well/is a legit team/is gritty and tough/so well coached." Again, maybe I'm just seeing what I want to see so I wanted to see if others thought the same.
  11. I do remember that. Backhanded indeed.
  12. Am I just looking at this through tinted glasses or have none of the announcers/media given FAU props? I know Golding has had some talk about him playing well, but in the last two games the focus was almost fully on the other teams. Outside a couple of small mentions have the announcers said anything about how well coached FAU is, or how good they are playing? Did the attempted dunk sour everyone on them?
  13. 15 losses until they played us, 7th place out of 10, won 1 game in the Big12 tourney vs last place OU. Maybe not a down year, but definitely a poor year.
  14. I mentioned the boost of who they played in my post. I also only used them as an example because @meangreenfaninno said look at the sparse OSU crowd. Even on a down year they are outdrawing us. The bigger issue is we had a team that had 4 losses until we played Rice, and 5 until we played CLT. If you look at the games between then and their attendance that is not a good turnout for such a low loss team. Again the issue is that the very best season in our history is drawing poorly. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/team/_/id/249/north-texas-mean-green
  15. This. It feels like the students get traded out for the alumni on the weekend, so the crowds look to be about the same.
  16. It's not. If it had been he would have been gone last year because of SMU. They were trying to lure him from anywhere between $2.4m-$2.8m.
  17. The new conference will help, but let's stop hoping our opponent raises our attendance and instead be the team that raises other team's attendance. Also I don't know what closer schools you would want us to play. Which schools would those be?
  18. OSU's arena seats 13.6k. This year's attendance: UTA: 5,324 S. Illinois: 5,324 Tulsa: 9,856 PV A&M: 5,683 SHSU: 5,368 AMCC: 6,007 WV: 6,134 Texas: 7,369 OU: 10,789 ISU: 6,656 Ol Miss: 9,973 TCU: 9,581 TT: 7,467 KU: 11,165 KSU: 11,124 Baylor: 7,965 EWU: 4,978 UNT: 4,807 =124,446 Season average= 6,914 They averaged 50.64% capacity on the season on a year they finished 20-16. Yes they are in the Big12 and get boosts from opponents, but we who are 29-7 and finished the year at 3,611. 34.38% capacity on our best season of all time. On a bad year they are still outdrawing us by 15%. The only time I can see that they've had a similar record to what we had this year was 20-21 where they finished 21-9 but covid happened. The other year is 2012-13 where they finished 24-9, they averaged 9,814.
