  1. Very true. You have 3-4 losses on the season and look around the arena to a sea of empty chairs. What more can you do to make the fans show up?
  2. We know, but sports sometimes runs in the family.
  3. Cincy had scheduled arena renovations so they couldn't host.
  4. Every time the subject is brought up it's the same thing. I don't care about eyerolls or downvotes, have a field day, I'd rather people engage in a discussion as to why they disagree. Arkstfan made a great post in the SHSU thread perfectly outlining why overcapacity was not a good thing, not a peep or a downvote from the naysayers. I wonder why? I guess when someone they liked and respected made a clear point their fingers locked up.
  5. No relation though they are both from Mali. I had wondered that too when I heard they also had a Sissoko.
  6. Welcome! The only nice thing I can say about Wisconsin is that my wife thinks your mascot Bucky is adorable. In all seriousness we are glad to be playing a storied program like UW. I'm not the best at summarizing these things but I'll give it a shot. We play a slow deliberate offense, the slowest in the country, and will usually run the clock down to 0 on almost every shot. Our starting big is most likely out for this game with a family issue, but his replacement Sissoko had a career game vs. OK State. We probably won't go down low a lot, opting more for backdoor cuts or one of our guards driving to the lane. We like to shoot the 3 with various players able to hit, but Tylor Perry is our best shooter followed by Huntsberry. Perry is known for clutch 3s in either late clock situations or crucial last minutes of play. We play a very active and stifling defense, mostly man to man, but sometimes we switch to zone. We are all hoping for a good game, and a Mean Green victory 😉
  7. The lowest team in the AAC in ECU at $3.94m which is about a 25% increase, and Memphis dwarfs us at $8.21M. Hopefully the conference payout helps, but we need to invest in a big way.
  8. For once the cougar troll makes a good point, he just doesn't know how to articulate it (he's from Houston, so you can't blame him.) He's not saying we can't win a one-off or even make a miracle run in the NCAAT, we see that kind of thing every now and then. But unless you want that to be a flash in the pan you need years of hard work by the administration to get everything into place, and consistently make deep runs. Coaching, recruiting, facilities, donations, marketing, NIL, Social Media, and most importantly investment and a strong push for athletics to be successful. Those are the things you need to be a known and respected brand. Just look at the budgets of the AAC members that were successful, and we have a path to continue to improve. The first link is a bit old but is still a good reference: https://www.three-man-weave.com/3mw/college-basketball-budgets-2020 https://www.agent49.net/aac-football-budgets-and-coaching-salaries-2022/ The hardest thing at our level is that when you do find success it's hard to keep it, but instead of letting us slide back down and starting over we need a strong administration that will set up the next coach to be successful.
  9. The good thing is the guys will have lots of time to prepare. Hopefully Eady will make a full recovery by then, and we can see about Ousmane, though I'm pretty doubtful we see him.
  10. Ok now that we've had a day to celebrate and enjoy the OSU win I feel like I can address this. I don't doubt that Mac is a candidate for the job, but at this stage I would think he is one of a few names they are looking at. The other I would guess is Dusty May, also what about Brian Dutcher who makes $1.3m at SDSU? Texas might not keep Rodney Terry. That along with a few names is what I figure they are looking at. Let's not forget SMU tried to money whip Mac last season. Rumors were they were offering in the $2.6-2.8M range, but he turned them down. Could UNT offer him something in the $2m range to convince him to stay? The other part of me has the Littrell era in my head where we shouldered a big debt if we let him go early. The difference is that Mac has actually won the hardware/big wins; CBI champs, regular and tourney champs, NCAA win, NIT wins and Semi Final. Going into the AAC it will be much easier to get into the NCAAT as an at-large. However we cannot match the money and more importantly recruiting advantage that TT has.
  11. I was watching SVP right after the game and they didn't mention anything more than halfway through the show. I hope someone DVR'ed the SC clips.
  12. All of those posters on the Ok State site seemed confused as to why they only scored 12 points in the first 16 minutes of play. Someone let them know they just played the #1 scoring defense in the country.
  13. Love to see stuff like this. Hope the ladies also come back from Stillwater with a W.
  14. Yeah I didn't realize they had missed so many.
  15. *updated with minutes and more stats Wow I did not know Eady only played 5 mins. We basically played a 7 man rotation.
  16. Sissoko came up huge today, we can see the parts he still needs to work on when he doesn't know when to stay in the lane or come out to defend. Mac made good adjustments and rotated Martinez in when Sissoko was getting beat to keep his confidence up. The team kept grinding and kept digging. The mental part of the game is just so huge in games like this, very proud of the guys. Also 90% shooting at the stripe today.
  17. Glad to be up, we have missed too many layups/fast breaks. We've left about 6 easy points on the floor. Good job on defense, keep hounding them. Clean up the mistakes and build the lead.
  18. It was always going to be a very low to almost 0 chance he would play. Flying to NYC and back, leaving team practice and all of the game prep they have to do, and on top of that for a 2 day turnaround. It just wasn't going to happen unless he got back early Monday.
  19. I say we put a lid on this thread until after the game tonight. I have a lot of thoughts to say, but I think we could all do without the distraction for at least today.
  20. I have wondered this too. I would think Nike would have no problem sending more jerseys and that they would be free? I don't think we pay Nike to give us jerseys, they provide them as part of our licensing agreement. At least I think that's how it works, someone else correct me if I'm wrong. The other issue is do the jerseys come blank? I noticed our names and numbers are embroidered and sewn on, not screen printed. So maybe the issue is getting more numbers/letters and getting those put on?
