  1. My sentiments SilverEagle. One would think that after four NO Bowl appearances, including one win, that our recruiting would be such that all we have to do is reload from year to year. To me, the Tulsa game and the soon to be played Louisiana Tech, would be the gauge that we could use to measure where our program was. I'm pretty disappointed at the complete distruction of the Mean Green by a decent Tulsa squad. I know I'm repeating what others have said, but with the nice crowd we had, a win or a more competitive game would have done wonders for us. We failed. No, we failed misurably. I'm pretty disgusted with the thought of possibly not winning any OOC games this year, the winning then possibly conference. I'll open a can of worms here, but maybe we should have taken the WAC invite. From strictly a football and basketball standpoint, I'm questioning the Sun Belt all over again.
  2. I'm with you. If our only goal in life is to continue to win the 'Belt, only to lose the NO bowl and just about every winnable OOC game we play, then we have no real ambition to better ourselves for a better conference.
  3. SilverEagle, I'm the poster who put the dog picture up to "stir it up" with Tulsa a bit. Almost 2,200 posts and I should be banned from the board for one post? If the moderator or someone else found it offensive and in bad taste, they made the decision already. I'm O.K. with that. But to be banned? How silly. Besides, I've seen much worse pictures posted here. And have you visited other boards from Big 12, SEC schools, etc.? Really bad stuff. To the Tulsa fans, I apologize. My bad.
  4. So we can expect to see you at the Tulsa game?
  5. I have coined some never before heard sports phrases. -Forget about top 25 talk, let's "take one game at a time" -We need to "focus on Tulsa" -We need to "take care of business" on Saturday This North Texas team is young and unproven in my book. Say what you will, but we were fortunate to come out of the 'boro with a win. Did our young D step up to the plate? Yes, but we must get a better push from the DL and do a better job of stopping the run. Remember, MUTS was not considered a runnin team. What I want is to avoid laying an egg like we did against UNLV a few years ago who, up to our game with them, hadn't won a game in two years!
  6. Last Meeting November, 20 1982 Tulsa 38 at North Texas 20 DENTON, TEXAS (11/20/05) - North Texas receiver Marvin Walker set NCAA Division I-AA records for receptions in a game and a season, but it wasn’t enough as Tulsa beat the Mean Green 38-20 at Fouts Field. Walker caught 22 passes for 164 yards in the game, giving the senior 91 catches on the season. Mean Green quarterback Rusty Hill set school records by attempted 61 passes, completing 42 for 377 yards. But, the Golden Hurricane took the lead in the third quarter on a Michael Gunter four yard run, and never looked back. A 60-yard interception return for a touchdown iced the game for Tulsa late in the fourth quarter. 7. I think it was a helluva nice touch for the AD to write the students, thanking them for turning out for the game. Good work.
  8. Crickets! Damn crickets. Can we get rid of the damn crickets that seem to infest Fouts every fall?
  9. I was there too. You had to be proud of our team that year.
  10. Move Venegas to the defensive line. I think it would help our cause immensely.
  11. Don't worry, those aggie$ will bring smut back down to earth.
  12. Large numbers so that NT fans can see the numbers while sitting in far away seats at Fouts. For the record, I do not like the new helmet logo. Rather have the script North Texas if we can't have an interlocked NT in some form.
  13. Finally, someone who thinks like me. I'm not a fan of the all-green look, nor the black pants. Look at some of the older pictures of game action with the white pants, etc., and the classic look is so much better.
  14. I seem to recall a Baylor team that tried to score a needless TD and ended up losing a ball game.
  15. Not at the game but listened intently. I'm wondering what type of defensive adjustments we could make to improve our defensive play. Someone mentioned moving Adam Venegas to the defensive line. He's big, 6-3, 305, and was a very good defensive linemen in HS. Seems that we need more size to plug up some holes. MUTS ran pretty well against our D. Much more than I like to see. Are there any other adjustments, addition of personnel, or changes we can make to improve the defense? We beat the MUTS, but we really need to improve quickly.
  16. What happened to the MUTS goal posts? Did they come down?
  17. Another semi-BCS conference member goes down to a "mid-major".
  18. I'm pumped. There will me wailing and knashing of teeth by this time tomorrow night!
  19. Are we expecting a revolving door at NT?
  20. I tell you what, other than the three first quarter snaffus, FAU looks pretty good. Their defense can really move.
