  1. Then again, he may not be cut out for college. Cut your losses - pull the scholarship.
  2. goodken, you referred to this part of the article - "To that end, Chancellor Jackson will hold discussions in September and October with students, faculty, staff and alumni groups to talk about the University’s goals and the ideal profile of our next president." I think gomeangreen.com and the Greenbackers should each have a group of representatives that would be a part of this advisory committee. Everyone is either a student or Alum, so qualifying would not be a problem. These two groups should be a "voice" concerning North Texas athletics, making sure that the search committee understands the need to move forward with Dr. Pohl's and the University's athletic goals at North Texas.
  3. I just saw this too. Good stuff, good exposure.
  4. AFA can send us a half-a-million bucks and we'll gladly relieve them of their contract to play in Denton.
  5. I new someone would come up with "Katrina was President Bush's fault" type of mentality. I think you're watching too much CNN and Larry King.
  6. This is a huge problem. I waited out Hurricane Carla in 1961 and when all was over, the creatures came out-snakes. I remember pictures of sidewalks that were line up with dead reptiles - 100's of them. And we were 80 miles west of where Carla hit. Water Moccasins were a real threat.
  7. Devastation and loss of life is the "killer". Sports is only a game.
  8. The first three plays that I was watching, Booger made a stop and held his own on the other two plays. He's not penetrating, but he is holding his own. The only time I saw him get man handled was due to a double team.
  9. "Texas Tech gets some Bottom 10 love in the coveted No. 5 spot. The Red Raiders' nonconference schedule is one gigantic pillow fight, featuring the softest down feathers possible." This cracks me up!
  10. "This will be the third meeting between North Texas and LSU, with the Tigers holding a 101-7 scoring edge over the Mean Green. LSU took the first game in the series 49-7 in 1995, and the second 52-0 in 1999. However, this will be the first meeting the Mean Green will face a nationally-ranked LSU squad. The Tigers enter the season ranked fifth in the country." A 101-7 scoring edge and this is the first time LSU is nationally ranked.
  11. My HS no longer exists, but I do keep up with some of the local teams/players. Keep an eye on Beaumont West Brook's Joe Chaisson. He's a Junior QB that will be highly recruited next year. Very exceptional athlete.
  12. Funny that you should mention the game being moved to Denton because that's exactly what a Fox Sports guy suggested. Personally, I think the game will be cancelled.
  13. How high above sea level is the Superdome's "ground Level"?
  14. Well, believe it are not, but down here on the upper Texas Coast that borders Louisiana, we are already receiving light breezes from Katrina. How do I know? When you've lived on the coast all your life, this type of wind is different. Ask MeanGreen61 for Corpus, he knows what I'm talking about. It gusts off and on. Still a beautiful, hot, sunny Sunday though. Watching the weather channel I just hope that sumbitch doesn't head farther west. I might have to take you up on that couch offer.
  15. Good catch Stebo. You would think that with Mike "I Walk On Water" Price on campus, there would be some kind of write-up.
  16. From what I understand, the SFA overview was dead-on.
  17. Not football related, but Stebo is correct. I've never been to the park he is referring to, but I have been to the one in Vicksburg, Mississippi. It is truly an awesome experience to be at the same places where some of the greatest Civil War battles were fought.
  18. May I have your attention please. Representing that great corner of the state of Texas known as the Golden Triangle, where the very best high school football in our great state is played, DeepGreen proudly selects a former player from Beaumont who moved to the Houston area, one of the new kids on the block and in the trenches, #54 Ajani Banks. At 6-3, 325, I look for Ajani to be a force on the offensive line this season as a true freshman.
  19. Our local high school does the same thing. Tell me, do the LSU cheerleaders visit the K-3rd grade schools and lead them in the LSU fight song, cheers, tiger bait yells, etc.? Ya gotta start 'em young ya know.
  20. I'm color blind. You are discriminating against people who are color blind. (sarcasm intended)
