  1. We need to win this game because I haven't taken a roadie in a while. Needless to say I'll be primed and ready to head for Lafayette Tuesday should we make it there.
  2. If we don't develop a killer instinct down the stretch I fear we won't pull it out against the MUTS. We coulda/woulda/shoulda closed this game out in regulation and definitely shouldn't have been close in OT. The good news is Wooden and Davis couldn't possibly play worse or shoot worse tomorrow.
  3. I don't think he was whining (completely) but I agree. At any other school they wouldn't have put a tuition increase to a vote...they woulda just done it.
  4. Actually he had somebody VERY specific in mind. As to the original post, don't get me started. My wife and I are dropping down to the $250 level (and I can't get her to budge) just so that we can write a single check for our tickets and donation before the ridiculous March 28 deadline. Never again will North Texas touch our checking account because of a myriad of reasons...surprise charges, lack of communication, lack of helpfulness when I called, general incompetence, overlapping last year's and this year's charges, etc. For a program that wants to grow it would help to take care of those who have been here through the shitty times.
  5. From the SMU board in regards to losing to us: From "Peruna2001" From "PerunaPower" in response Later in the thread from "AlexLifeson" And another They're talking about us plenty.
  6. Ladies and Gents, all of your complaints need to be directed in one direction and one direction only...current NT students and NT alumni. Don't like having only 5 home games? Tell people to support their school. Don't like the Sun Belt? Tell people to support their school. Don't like only 1 home game in the first 5? Tell people to support their school. Wanna play a more "attractive" schedule? Yep, tell people to support their school. A football program with an average attendance of 15-17,000 is not working from a position of power when it comes to scheduling. We are not financially solvent enough to make demands yet. If we sold out Fouts consistently...or even came close...home games would be money making events and we could say "no thanks" to contracts that didn't suit our best interests. If we sold out Fouts consistently leagues like CUSA would knock on our door instead of vice versa (and YES Screaming Eagle 66 is dead on when he says students and alumni failed our basketball program on Wednesday, even the Greeks). We sit here and whine and complain ad nauseum about wanting a new stadium, wanting a new conference, wanting respect or wanting better schedules. Let's put a better product in the stands and we'll get a better product on the field. Our fellow alumni (unless you don't make it to games and then I'm talking about you too)and students are failing us! While I'm typing here I guess I'll get into Plumm territory and go long with it. I've seen complaints about advertising from time to time. When was the last time that you, personally, did something to advertise a game. At the beginning of the year in years past there has been a group of alumni who have gone business to business, door to door, putting up schedule posters so that Dentonites can't say they didn't know there was a game. Talons catches flak for not doing enough on this same front. Current Talons on the board (and please correct me if I'm off point on this) when was the last time you had yard signs made and put them out on campus? Or had door hangers made a week prior to the game so that they were on every dormitory door by Wednesday of game week? I only ask because I know FOR A FACT that it has been done in the past...without the benefit of student service fees. That's your job! The whole "ensure a continuing atmosphere of spirit and service to the University of North Texas" motto is far more than just paying it lip service. Go the extra mile. Folks, I know that this board represents the proverbial "choir" and that preaching to all of you is an exercise in redundancy and may even come across as borderline offensive but I am a firm believer in the old adage that 'if you're not a part of the solution you're a part of the problem' when it comes to NT athletics. We all know this program is gonna grow incrementally. We have the power to make it grow exponentially though. I just can't help but get excited when I think about that.
  7. I agree to a point with a few corrections. First, their starting QB Justin Willis DID play against us last year. He had 1 pick and 1 TD. He looked so befuddled during the game that he was pulled temporarily. Do I think he got consistently better as the year went on and will be better this season? Yep. Do I think we'll still win? Yep. Now, as to us being their "super bowl" I have to agree with this. Not in the sense that we are the make/break game for their season...they have a conference title to chase just like us...but I think it's their "measuring stick" game. They are all WELL aware of the publicity that 4 conference titles (regardless of how impressive you think they were) and now the hiring of Dodge has brought lil' ol' NT. And they are painfully aware of how far below us they were for the last half decade in the Sagarins and national polls. Last season was, for them, the chance to put to bed the idea that we had a better program. They got handled and if you went to their message board it showed. They were predicting a loss to SFA the next week! Then they went on a mini tear and won 6 games for the season. Now, though you'd never hear them say it out loud, they all know that this year is put up of shut up time for them. Another loss to "NTSU" in THEIR house would be damning to their season and morale. To them we are like the affair that you know your wife is having. If you don't talk about it or acknowledge it, it can't hurt you. Well, last season their wives said "Ohhhhhh North Texas" while in bed. By this time next season we'll be driving around in the car they bought for the wife.
  8. One word...secondary. If teams can pass on you consistently you're dead. If their QB is constantly weary of interceptions or at least looks up and sees no open reads your D-Line will have a field day.
  9. I know where some of our students were. They were at Riprock's being total asses as they went back and forth with a group of Aggie fans over their basketball game. (Just as an interesting tidbit...all of the Aggie fans were AGGIE GRADUATES)
  10. Thought they could have some of this with their whine.
  11. Awwwww...that may be the cutest thing I've ever heard. Babies that hate SMU.
  12. Dub and Shane...I expect to see you at my tailgate!!!! I'll bring the punch.
  13. Come hell or lack of range at work...I'M THERE.
  14. Revitalizing downtown? Hahahahaha The only major project going on downtown right now is the construction of a new mecca for the homeless. I'm sure the businesses are just lining up as we speak. Take it from a guy who works down there...Dallas is d-e-a-d as a tourist destination. Once TX/OU takes their ball and goes to Arlington to home/home you can kiss major football of any sort goodbye too.
  15. I propose we get tickets to their game and wear our Mean Green gear. Maybe bring a sign that says "You're halfway to 0-2"
  16. I will be out there by 5. Whether anyone else is there, hint hint, I don't know.
  17. I don't know how you can say any game is weak for the first televised college football game of the year. IT'S COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!! Oh, how I miss you college football.
  18. I'd take him in a heartbeat. If last season taught us anything it's that you can never guarantee that the QB you need is on the roster. I know, I know, Vizza is the second coming...but what if he's not? I don't think having another QB can ever be a bad thing.
  19. Lest anyone mistake this comment for a jab at UT he is referring to a comment by Nate Newton that NT "doesn't pay enough." GB, I know you didn't need the defending but I could just foresee a myriad of well-intentioned defenses of UT's honor by "true Texans."
  20. So there IS a game at the pit Wednesday? If so, I just might tailgate.
  21. I now don't want to hear about Riley Dodge ever again. Let's talk about those in the Mean Green family.
