  1. Next year we do lose some big players with some big numbers. We lose KD who might be our most talented player. We lose C-Wat who, though we have all pulled our hair out at times because he's in love with the triple, has hit some HUGE shots during games. We lose Rich Young who I think played outstanding ball this year and especially when Davis was hurt and couldn't start in the tournament. And we lose Ruffin who I just think was a cool guy. Now, let's look at what we return. Starting PG- Ben Bell will be a senior Other guard- I would assume Sturns plays here and he'll be a senior Center- Wooden will be a senior Power Forward- Quincy will be a senior Small Forward- Harold Stewart? He'd be a junior. If this is the lineup it's a junior/senior laden bunch. Collin Mangrum can suck up quality minutes. I don't know what we've got in transfer Jonathan Jackson but he's a big frame at 6'8". Howerton is a big body if nothing else. Collin Dennis is another transfer that I'm not sure about...anyone know? Add all of this to what I've got to assume will be a much improved recruiting class and I'd say we're set up quite nicely. Any word on whether Flemings returning is a possibility? And where did Curtis Muse go?
  2. I can't comment on her being at the pep rally but she was one of only 50 or so Mean Green fans in Lafayette.
  3. Tell me about it. Can we get her quote printed out and put into the mailbox of every faculty member on campus?
  4. You are exactly right. I'll be perfectly honest I genuinely hate SMU. I get giddy when I get a loud noise call at an SMU party...I pray for the chance to write tickets. I about pee myself when I take one of them to jail. If I ever get the chance to pull Justin Willis or Phil Bennett over for DWI, provided they are drunk, I may pass out from happiness. So, yes, you are spot on.
  5. Gee, now why would you like white helmets?
  6. I really don't have the vocal range for "16 going on 17" but I'll give "So Long, Farewell" a shot.
  7. Final Four? We didn't make this tournament to bow out that early!
  8. Gosh I am ever so sorry for ever implying that you are not a true fan. What can I ever do to make it up to you? I mean, seeing as I am clearly jobless, without other responsibilities and sit around all day just waiting for the next chance to go to a North Texas event I should have all the time in the world to build a...what did you call it, resume? And, no, making the trip to Lafayette doesn't make me a fan above all others. But I do appreciate the call for a round of applause...can we get another because I think I feel an encore coming on. Hell, I may even do showtunes...any requests? In all seriousness, coming from a guy who grew up in Denton I'm happy to see any and all NT fans...even the non "true" ones.
  9. This is what happens when you are successful yourself and secure in what your school is doing. You can afford to be complimentary to others without feeling like it's damaging your ego.
  10. No. I admit it, it's a character flaw. I'll just have to lump it in with my other character flaws like staying up 24 hours to be in Lafayette, making every game humanly possible this year, living and dying with the Green, and being a part of the solution instead of bitching on the board 24/7 about our coach, our team or anything else. But yes, it is obvious that I devote all of my time to worrying about SMU isn't it?
  11. Just got a phone call saying channels 5 and 11 are there.
  12. And just who recruited this talented team?
  13. They're bitterness and jealousy know no bounds: http://www.ponyfans.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=23368
  14. Not to point out even further how bad things are but I got a call from my wife as I was on my way to Lafayette yesterday telling me that NT had just deducted $100 from our checking account. That wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact that I haven't committed to tickets or a giving level yet!
  15. Here's something to think about. When the game was still very much in doubt we had a sequence where we went to the line 3 straight times and hit ONE free throw...yet we still won the game by 8! What could this team do if they could shoot free throws?
  16. My game watching experience was pretty decent. Got to watch my alma mater clinch a trip to the dance in person...oh yeah, and got on national TV.
  17. I have all of Gary Smith's albums.
  18. I just got home...FFRick and I drove straight in, watched the game, drove straight out...and since I have been within radio range of ESPN radio and the Ticket I have heard our win mentioned 7 times. (I also just saw the highlights on sportscenter) I heard of radio promo for DishNetwork on ESPN radio and the announcer said "Get a free DVR so you can rewind North Texas' last second winning shot against John Doe University in the NCAA tournament" A good bit of positive press. The only person who I have heard try to spin this happy moment in a negaive light was....drumroll please.......................Craig F'n Miller. Basically took his opportunity to try to get under Jub Jub's skin about North Texas' home attendance, lack of traveling fans in Lafayette, etc. If anyone knows the guys home address let me know so I can send him a suspicious looking package.
  19. If I won 140 million dollars I would write the check, outright, for 60 million for the stadium.
  20. San Antonio? How is this not the focal point of this thread?! I am soooooo there.
  21. I am constantly amused to no end by all of the talk of "going to the next level" and whether JJ is the guy to take us there. A quick refresher for those playing at home. If you're a perennial NCAA tournament participant the "next level" is...the final 4. If you're perennially on the cusp of being in the tournament the "next level" is...the NCAA tournament. If you are perenially bowing out in the quarterfinals of your conference tournament the "next level" is...the conference final. If, like NT, you haven't been in a conference final in over a decade and your last trip to the NCAA tournament was 1988 then the "next level" is...SHUTTING THE HELL UP AND ENJOYING IT. How do we know this isn't year 1 of an annual trip to the NCAA's? Oh sure, we can assume it's not but let me remind you of a little exchange that took place often on this exact forum just a month or two ago. Person A: "Hey look, we're winning tonight!" Person B: "Don't worry, JJ's teams always choke in the end" 20 minutes later Person A: "We won" Person B: "We can't keep this up, JJ's teams always choke in the end" Five games later Person A: "We've got a chance to win 20 games." Person B: "Don't worry, JJ's teams always choke in the end" Heading into the conference tourney Person A: "We've got a first round game on our floor tonight" Person B: "We'll lose in the first round like we always do, JJ's teams always choke in the end" After that game Person A: "I wonder how deep we can go in the tourney?" Person B: "We'll lose now that we're away from home, JJ's teams always choke in the end." And now, headed into the conference final, "JJ's teams always choke in the end" has been forced into the revision of "We're not that good of a team." Pathetic.
  22. Ok, with just your last sentence I can summarily discount the entire rest of your post. You wanna talk about having to depend on the other team "stinking"? How about needing FIVE interceptions to beat Cincinnati in that game? This IS NOT a bad NT team. Let's run down the list of things they overcame to win by 7: 1)Leading scorer didn't even play due to illness 2)Howerton, Mangrum, Rich Young played significant minutes 3)Foul trouble kept Wooden and Williams off of the floor simultaneously for long stretches 4)3-ball wasn't falling And none of this even takes into account the things they overcame to win the quarterfinal. And don't tell me "they created some of their own problems" because, while you'd be right, it is insulting to not recognize that they rectified their mistakes and pulled through.
