  1. Pretty minor compared to some of the damage I caused during that time!
  2. It really went downhill just during my time at UNT. I thought it was a really nice hotel in 93-94, but it seemed like they really cut back some time after that.
  3. Some quotes from Self regarding his decision: Translated: KU offered me a huge pile of money, and I am just giddy about it! http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=3340309
  4. That doesn't sound like a vote of confidence for UNT, that sounds like a vote of confidence for RV--to go to another school!
  5. Wow! Now that's a post that actually gives a glimmer of hope!
  6. I agree. And I have little doubt that he will prove himself at the D-1 level--I just hope he does it (or at least a bunch of it) at UNT!
  7. The text was obscured in my browser as well, so I copied and pasted below the first 2 paragraphs: 2008 North Texas Spring Football Outlook: Offense DENTON, Texas (4/9/09) - If offensive production was the only factor in a team’s success, the North Texas faithful would be feeling pretty triumphant falling the 2007 season. The Mean Green offense out-gained its opponent six times, but only won one of those games. The 4,901 yards of total offense by North Texas in 2007 was the most in North Texas history and the 298 points was the 10th-most in North Texas history. The 2007 North Texas offense was led by many players who weren’t even on the radar for postseason awards coming into the season. Former walk-on wide receiver Casey Fitzgerald was a hidden gem for Dodge’s passing attack. In his first season as a starter, Fitzgerald broke nearly every North Texas single-season receiving record and earned first team all-conference and honorable mention All-America honors. Center Kelvin Drake was also a first time starter in 2007 and finished the season as a second team all-conference performer. True freshman quarterback Giovanni Vizza didn’t earn the starting nod until the fifth game of the season, but still managed to become the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year.
  8. This fella obviously has some time on his hands. Pretty interesting.
  9. The reason for the high attendance last year had a lot to do with the newness of Dodgeball. I imagine attendance will still be high, but down a little. 3500.

  11. Obviously, we are our own worst enemy when it comes to perception. If outsiders view us as a "commuter college" or "not a 'real college,'" why would they ever change that impression when the only response we can come up with is, "Uhhh, yeah. I don't agree with your assessment, but I see where you're coming from." Many in the Metroplex have that perception of UNT because they want to have that perception. Graduates of UT, SMU, etc. want to believe they got something that UNT graduates do not receive. When I was looking to transfer to UNT from a private college (not because of grades and not really because of money), I saw UNT as having a world-class music school on a par with the world class music school I was already attending. I don't have a major problem with UNT being marketed as a great value, but I have a major problem with UNT graduates selling their alma mater short to the world.
  12. They averaged 23 points in Belt play, and just under 25 points in overall play. I would expect that to increase in '08.
  13. Simply a false statement. Many of us could have gone to private schools with "higher academic standards" and chose UNT because of what it had to offer--and price had NOTHING to do with it. A whole lot of students come from out of state and basically pay the same tuition they would at a private school to attend UNT.
  14. We are certainly rivals in terms of recruiting, and it goes both ways.
  15. I have been surprised the way they have been indicating J.J. Johnson will be used at guard and not at center. I thought Johnson was supposed to be exceptional in the shotgun.
  16. If G.J. Kinne indicated he wanted to go to SMU, Jones would give him the starting job over Justin Willis in a heartbeat.
  17. On #3, I assume you are talking about our JUCO pickups? I think one of them (Hollivay?) may have some academic issues to clear up before he finishes the semester. But if they are ready to go and are as advertised, you are right. I am still worried about depth on the O-line.
  18. So this means that now sometimes there will be no penalty at all for a facemask? That is a huge change. Defenders won't feel that they have to avoid the facemask at all costs anymore--just try not to grab hold of it.
  19. That's an interesting move. I remember how it changed the game when they moved the 3-point line in in the NBA--it made 3-point shooters a much less exclusive club than it was beforehand. So I imagine the opposite will happen in the NCAA--there will probably be fewer shooters who have a green light to shoot 3's whenever they have an open look.
  20. Sounds like he has a great attitude about things. I look forward to seeing him in the fall.
  21. I've gotta be honest . . . when I saw the thread title I thought, "This one's sure to be locked down in no time." Wrong Lieberman.
  22. Just an unsubstantiated rumor, but hey--isn't that what message boards are for? Link to one worthless source Link to another more worthless source
