  1. Bigger than the Redbud Festival? Bigger than the Storytelling Festival? When did Denton start this?
  2. This matter has been cleared up, if you read the posts that came in the days after I posted this. The reason it would have been humiliating is if Taylor chose UCA over UNT because he saw it as a better opportunity. If UCA is not exactly a powerhouse, that would make UNT something even worse. And again, if you read the insider's post above, Taylor's release had nothing to do with an inability to play here. There's a good chance would have started here from day one.
  3. Thank you. I hate to lose him--he is a far cry from a "developmental high school recruit"--but I understand things a whole lot better now.
  4. Never heard of it. Is this really such a big deal as to cause problems?
  5. K.D. Davis comes to mind. I know there are plenty of others, although that is certainly the exception rather than the rule.
  6. You know, looking at the picture I think you're right. I know some time has gone by, but that looks like a different guy. What's the source on this photo?
  7. I'm trying to think--prior to Wren, who is the last person to go straight from the A.D. position at NT to another A.D. position at an FBS school?
  8. The Big 12 already turned down Louisville. What makes you think they'd go after Pitt?
  9. Former Rutgers A.D. Tim Pernetti. Not sure what to make of this hire, myself. He sounds okay. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/aac-hires-tim-pernetti-as-new-commissioner-former-rutgers-athletic-director-replaces-mike-aresco/
  10. You do know that high school players are getting NIL deals just as surely as transfer players are, right?
  11. I don't understand the question. Are you saying we can offer better NIL deals than the schools that used to sign this type of player? If not, it seems we'll get less of a sniff than ever.
  12. Yep. The NCAA (rightfully, in this case) fought against NIL tooth and nail, and were forced by politicians to allow it.
  13. Of course he's eligible. As far as I know, anyone who has ever played for North Texas is eligible. The question is, do they have the resume? The fact that Rewbuhn is transferring is a minor strike against him, but I don't see him having a HOF-worthy resume regardless of transferring.
  14. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/chiefs-rashee-rice-sought-by-police-as-a-suspect-in-a-major-car-crash-in-dallas-per-report/
  15. That's pretty weak reasoning. I'm not an Alabama fan, but Bear Bryant and Nick Saban are both no-brainers for the Mt. Rushmore of college football coaches. After that, it's tough. You have your others topping all-time winningest, like Joe Paterno and Bobby Bowden. You have your undeniable legends like Knute Rockne, Bo Schembechler, and Tom Osborne. Like the argument for Bill Snyder above, you have others who did more with less, like Hayden Fry and Frank Beamer. The pick for Pete Carroll above is interesting. USC while he was HC was about as dominant a program as I've seen in my lifetime, along with Nebraska with Tom Osborne and Bama with Saban. But his college coaching career was just too short to think about putting on the "Mt. Rushmore." And Dabo Swinney is crazy. Yes, he's been one of the top 2 or 3 coaches over the past 10 years, but of all time? Hardly.
  16. How much NIL would he have made if he would have stayed at NT another year? I'm sure it wouldn't have been a quarter million dollars, but I'm sure it wouldn't have been nothing, either.
  17. We all figured he'd be making a jump this offseason. But to Michigan?!? That is a huuuge leap.
  18. Exactly. Otherwise they never would have gotten in, even with SMU's substantial bribe.
  19. "Was SMU in the conference at the time, depreciating the ACC from a quality P5 program into a laughingstock/craphole?" "No." "It would be cruel and unusual punishment to force you to be in this situation. You are free to go with no exit fees, and SMU's donors will be required to pay your legal fees as well as to repay your emotional distress."
