  1. Saying Riley could turn us around next season and then suggesting Fuente would struggle seems like a stretch. I'll put my money on the guy who has already shown he can rebuild a program.
  2. Our new coach will probably make around $2.5 million. That doesn't mean we'll be able to offer assistants P5 money. Harrell makes $750K/year at WVU. There's no way we can match that. The highest I could see us going is around $500K. And that's pushing it.
  3. Why would Graham Harrell leave a P5 job that pays more than us?
  4. Not sure why his bowl record as an assistant/DC matters, but Tulsa went 1-2.
  5. Barnett‘s story insinuates Mattress Mack’s money is pushing Perry to the front of the line.
  6. Gillespie is a copy of the Traylor and McGuire model. Gillespie coached at a state power (Stephenville) for many years and won a state title before moving up to college. Since then he's been a successful DC at Tulsa and now TCU.
  7. He is obviously getting lots of interest from P5s. Though I think the reports that he's turned down multiple offers this year are bogus. Programs don't just offer contracts without interviewing, which by all accounts he hasn't. I can see him leaving after next season. They're bringing back pretty much their entire offense and will likely win 8+ games. At that point its hard to imagine his stock getting any higher. UTSA is going to have to replace all of their offensive production in 2024 and likely looking at a rebuilding year. Does Traylor want to risk hurting his stock or finally cash out for a Big 12/SEC job? I can see Arkansas firing Pittman if they have another losing SEC record and Traylor spent a couple years there under Chad Morris. And even though Jimbo's buyout will still be enormous, I doubt the Aggies will tolerate another 5 to 7 win season.
  8. On the surface, Jones and Maggard would be much more impressive hires than Mosley.
  9. Maybe. For the record, I don't think it's taken too long yet. I never expected to hear a name until later this week. Now, if we still don't know by next Monday then I'll start to get upset.
  10. They were speaking like it was fact, but I think it's pure speculation on their part that Wren was protecting Seth. Just last week they were saying Wren's departure meant Seth was 100% safe...
  11. I'm pretty sure they're losing WRs Zakhari Franklin and JT Clark. And 4 of the linemen are listed as seniors, but like you said, its hard to know if they still have a COVID year or if they are even planning on using it.
  12. I don’t think this is true. TXST fired Spavital and hired Kinne in less than a week.
  13. But its his direct boss. I imagine a coach would like to know who is leading the athletic department and whether they get along before taking a job. Not saying it's a deal breaker, but I imagine a candidate would have a little pause and would ask questions about what direction Smatresk is going for a new AD.
  14. Or the coach is unwilling to signup for a job where the AD position is unfulfilled.
  15. If we don't have a coach by the bowl game then this search has been a total disaster. Needs to be early next week, at the latest.
  16. How about in 2015 when he beat a 10-3 Ole Miss, 10-4 MAC Champions Bowling Green, 8-5 South Florida, and 7-6 Cincy? Sounds just like Littrell 🙄
  17. The guy turned a dumpster fire Memphis program into one of the best in the AAC. I don’t love how his personality with the media is similar to Littrell, but you can’t deny he has the EXACT experience we’re looking for.
  18. I like how fans always criticize coaches for loyalty and nepotism hires, but then we demand they hire/keep every former player that's a coach lol
  19. The conversation was under the assumption we already have our head coach.
  20. It was mentioned on the GMG podcast last night that people would be really excited about the names being mentioned for OC/DC.
  21. He has one more year if he wants it. I might have his medical redshirt year wrong, but it’s something like this: 2017- redshirted 2018- medical redshirt 2019- Redshirt freshmen 2020- COVID 2021- Redshirt sophomore 2022- Redshirt junior
