  1. We do have a media “relations”dept right? What do they do?
  2. Agree and further…. There’s a huge week night game coming up mid Feb when ranked Memphis comes to Denton. If we can keep winning between now and then…..could be a huge conference match-up. Been to a few big games at the pit when it’s full and rocking and it is amazing. Thats a game that people should be planning ahead for now…..
  3. This team can do some damage. Hodge figuring out HIS team. Going to be a fun season.
  4. Man....does it. How big exactly is this "setback"
  5. One of the most underrated coaches in the nation...think of the running backs he has gone through and our running game just keeps producing and he cranks out nationally ranked RBs. If I'm a RB recruit...I would want to play for him. (and full disclosure....my favorite UNT player of all time)
  6. Do they teach the concept of ROI at SMU's business school?
  7. I like when you say excuses for what and then list a bunch of excuses....
  8. Look....from a macro level.....I think the market will figure this out. I don't know why I'm not as fired up about it...I think the Littrell era gave me an "I don't really care" vibe. But my goodness there are 500+ kids in the portal? A few years from now, someone will do a study on who the portal helped and who it hurt. There will be 100s of kids that will transfer, get their $$, blow their $$, get hurt and have no degree living back home.... Will there be more Caleb Williams making millions per year while in school and going to the NFL? Or will there be more Jyaire Shorters transferring and getting buried on the bench. Not sure where he'll end up...but he ruined his career with that decision. I hope he can find somewhere to resurrect it. I've said this all along....the market will figure this out. There are going to be a ton of kids seriously hurt by this. I can't get too upset or sad for them. People have to have to freedom to go and get hurt. But on the upside....those like Jamori Maclin are going to get big $$$. The game is definitely changed. The schools and multi-million dollar coaches have had guardrails put in place for years that gave them everything they wanted. Now the players on the field are taking that power away. With that power comes risk. Don't have a problem with the kids going out and getting theirs. Also don't have a problem with the kids flaming out and ending up living home or on the street. Welcome to the real world. The market will dictate what the market can handle and accept.
  9. College athletes now have more power than professional athletes when you think about it.... to a point.... Teams still have to take them
  10. Yes. This isn’t special to UNT. This is the new world. It’s a year by year deal. Just have to cheer for the jersey regardless of who is in it. Hopefully Morris and Company can upgrade where these guys are leaving. And to someone else’s point, a lot of these kids are going to be sitting with no team….it goes both ways.
  11. listening to college football channel on sirius this morning....Presidents/ADs/those in charge are already starting to try to get rid of the highest rated G5 spot in the new playoff. I would be shocked if the G5 kept that spot long term. This was a bad year for G5s. Last year's Tulane ranking would've been good. They may put is a caveat saying the G5 has to be ranked top 15 or something....
  12. What about it? Looks really weak. No P5 teams. Compared to SMU and even Tulane for sure. Not sure what it has to do with us. I didn’t compare their schedule to ours. Didn’t even bring our schedule up nor am I trying to make some case that would compare Liberty to North Texas. Pretty sure they would beat us. Not sure “we acting like we’re in the SECW” has anything to do with my post.
  13. As for leaving FSU out, I think what the committee proved. What we’ve known all along. College football is 8 or so pre determined programs. They’re automatically anointed spots. if FSU went in over Bama, that justification objectively…..is much easier to make than what they have now. Mike Norvell was right. Why play the games? If you lose a key player….quit
  14. Holy crap. I just looked at Liberty’s schedule. YIKES
  15. The logic they used to put Bama in over FSU didn’t apply to SMU/Liberty
  16. Irony for SMU. They’re going to ACC next year. They would have a better shot at getting in the playoff next year if they stayed in the AAC
  17. It's interesting the Houston guy has so many posts on our board....I don't think I've ever even seen a Houston board.
  18. Don’t forget. We pretty much hired Dodge because we couldn’t afford anyone else. Given the resources available now compared to then…. I’m having a hard time saying Dodge was much worse if any than what we’ve seen so far.
  19. I’ve come to the conclusion watching the past few games, opposing OCs know they have no issue running and moving the ball. Get a big lead, try something. Doesn’t work. Just go back to what they know is easy. Saw it at the end of the Tulane game and the Memphis game too. no risk in coming out throwing 3 times to start the half. Doesn’t work they can always go back to what’s easy. Just like they did the last drive to ice the game.
