  1. I don't think that Russell Wilson was fighting to be a starter at NCST. And Mayfield was the only reason that Tech was remotely successful that season and had earned the starting job. He really only left because Kingsbury wouldn't give him a scholarship as a reward for his success. Just because Fine would have become the first two time offensive player of the year doesn't mean that it would be totally unprecedented.
  2. And he said that he wasn't going to join a list, so like I said, non story. There are QBs that have jumped from one team to another, and that list will grow after this season. Russell Wilson and Baker Mayfield both moved teams after being successful. Bryant from Clemson has already announced his transfer and Hurd from Alabama is a likely candidate to transfer as well. Fine wouldn't be the first QB from a G5 to P5 using the grad transfer rule as Minshew at Washington State via ECU has that honor already sewn up (though I doubt he is the first one to do it). This is going to become mush more common and we may have to just accept it if we continue to be successful.
  3. MG Fans: "I want to be good at football, I don't care what it costs!" Also MG Fans: "My successful coach and QB might maybe possibly use their success here to go elsewhere. I AM NOW VERY ANGRY AND DO NOT APPROVE!" Sometime success has side effects that may not be fun, but we have to deal with it. Still, this seems like a non story to me.
  4. Your right, two quotes next to each other without context. I don't think it would be awful to have a later kickoff, but to say that the AD is basically giving a middle finger to fans because they choose an earlier kickoff seems to be a little harsh as there are several ways to look at it. I would also argue that "no access to shade" is not an accurate assessment of the stadium at 6 pm as there is plenty of shade in the stadium at that time of day.
  5. Yeah, I know that most people with families love leaving the game at 10:30-11, so it sure would be rude of them to schedule the game to end at a decent hour.
  6. Really more curious what could have been done with the #BO08S recruits.
  7. Pretty sure that Chip has a football plan, though.
  8. I am a little confused here. Brett is just doing on Twitter what happens on here. When we offer a player, a new thread is started. When that player commits somewhere else, it gets posted on the thread. Brett just puts it on Twitter for the followers he has there. His job is to report on happenings around the program, and he is doing that. Not sure why he is getting nailed for doing his job. I understand that we don't enjoy seeing the news that we missed a guy multiple times, but he is just reporting things that happen.
  9. I have been on here plenty long, not that it matters. As for to suggesting that you don't belong, I never said that. Please reread. I asked why you are spending your time on here if you no longer support the program. You sure spend a lot of time on something you profess to no longer care about. As I stated in my post, just want to understand. Also, just because you say something "respectfully" doesn't make what follows respectful.
  10. Then why are you here? This site, especially this particular forum, is dedicated to athletics. If you no longer support athletics because of this, then why are you here constantly bringing it up?
  11. So your hate for Liberty is greater than your love for your university? You are willing to give up on the program because you don't like playing a team twice? Just want to understand the logic here.
  12. The idea that this is a national broadcast is laughable. CBSSN is not included in a lot of cable packages. The coverage of the network may actually be less than ESPN3 which has long been derided on here as not a national broadcast.
  13. That seems pretty exclusive. There are 100+ QBs that play every year for the past 100 years and it has only happened 12 times in over 10k attempts.
  14. A little taste of what the MWC schedule might look like, but at home. It wouldn't be so bad if kickoff was at 7 or 7:30.
  15. Those scholarships have more stringent academic standards that are reviewed by people not in the athletic department and also typically have grade requirements. If a player does not meet, and continue to meet, those requirements, it is not an available option for them. Also, many of those do not cover a full ride (as is the case here), so it is not attractive to a player. Plus, telling a player that you are being recruited as a "walk on" that will be awarded an academic scholarship which will require they maintain higher grades is not likely to be enticing to a player when competing offers will not have this requirement. College athletics are challenging enough just to get passing grades, let alone the added pressure of maintaining a high GPA just so you can continue to have your school paid for. All this in addition to the risk that the NCAA finds out and comes down on you with sanctions.
  16. My understanding is that the academic scholarship accounts for less than 30% of the cost of school. An athletic scholarship would very much help him out.
  17. I think they just announced dates for Houston and Austin, but I may be mistaken.
  18. Don't forget Mitchell, she is a great representative as well.
