So it seems that he just struggles from the line and it is not fatigue related.

I think to back that up, you would need to look at when he is taking those shots and when he misses. If you see that he is missing more FTs late in games, then your argument may have more validity.

Never too early for 2018 rankings
forevereagle replied to TheColonyEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Just be happy with wins. This program has been down for a long time and expecting that we win games by big margins in more than half of our games is not where this program realistically is. SL has made leaps in a short amount of time, but being a dominant team is not realistic given where we are and where we have come from. We just don't have the depth to dominate every opponent. Let's see how this year pans out and where things are and consider that for next year. Realistically, we should have bigger wins in more games this year, but not as frequently as you demand. Comparing us to FAU is not a fair comparison. Their previous coach didn't succeed, not because he couldn't recruit, but because he was lost in game planning and game day execution. The team when Kiffin took over was far ahead of where we were when SL took over. Not sure why getting votes is so important to you and why you are surprised that FAU didn't get many votes. In order for a G5 school to get votes, you either need to be undefeated late in the season with a win over a respected P5, or have a recent past history of success. FAU didn't meet those requirements. The voting has only a mild correlation with on the field results, and that is exacerbated when you are a G5. -

FAU's new OC - 24 year old, Charlie Weiss Jr.
forevereagle replied to MeanGreen_ATX's topic in Mean Green Football
Ok, glad to know his father, known by many in the world of football coaching, had no ability to influence others to give his son a chance unavailable to others. On the second part, I am not going to type it again, so I will just quote myself and hope that makes the point.- 49 replies

Not sure how these two guys compare here, but ok. Just to be clear here, seems like nepotism is ok as long as the person doesn't suck. Also, to be clear, I am not saying that this guy is bad or anything, but I just thought it was more intellectually honest to admit that he is really only in this position because of who his father is.- 49 replies

DRC: UNT adjusting roles in football operations, recruiting
forevereagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I actually like the approach. By evaluating things on your own and not just firing everyone from the outset, you allow the organization to keep moving forward and see if your people were not successful because of fit or leadership. He is certainly playing the long game, building for the future and not making changes just for the sake of making changes. -

I believe that is the current rule. -

Right, I never said the guy wasn't any good. I said that he had doors opened for him at points in his life that almost no one else has opened for them because of his name. When was the last time that you remember an FBS coordinator being named at 24?- 49 replies

With the new transfer rule being considered
forevereagle replied to southsideguy's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Scholarships are a limited resource. I believe that transfers can count against your allowable number of recruits. Even if this rule is passed, which it hasn't yet, there are still only so many available places for a player to land. I don't think this will be something that becomes a bigger issue than it is today. Also, believe that teams will be keeping a close eye on the players and if other schools are contacting them. -

So you think that the guy's name had nothing to do with him getting opportunities that are nearly unheard of? I think it absolutely had something to do with it. Sure, Kiffin thinks that the guy can help him win, but the fact that he can contribute as a coordinator at 24 when almost no one has ever done that is a product of his parentage. He got opportunities that are simply not available to others.- 49 replies

matt schick NCAA Transfer Rules could be changing
forevereagle replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
That's a fair point, so there needs to be greater scrutiny on this if the rules change. There also should be looks at coaching changes and if players leave a school in bulk, then recruiting numbers should be more flexible to allow schools to recover from a mass exodus. In reality, there are only so many scholarships available in FBS, so I don't know that this type of thing is really that likely. -

Not sure what the outcome would be, but I think that recruiting of players currently on scholarship at another school would still be against the rules. Also, I would want to see some rules around when you don't have to sit. -

Maybe Kiffin sees himself in this guy. Well known coach father trying to make his own way. I don't understand this move, but whatever, not happening here so not a big deal to me.- 49 replies

Washington State QB Tyler Hilinski dead at 21
forevereagle replied to Greenrex's topic in Mean Green Football
Not sure if you meant it this way, but being worried about his rating and his brother's recruiting doesn't come off too well in this situation. It doesn't matter if he is a walk on or just a student who has never entered the stadium, this is a sad thing that happens all too often for too many people. Depression is a powerful foe that far too many don't think they can talk about or get help with. We need to remove the stigma with it so more people can get help and this can be avoided in the future. -
I believe the idea there is to even out traffic to each entrance so they aren't backing up traffic.

Is it time to revisit the twitter rules for recruiting?
forevereagle replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Because of the public nature of Twitter and how out there the information is, there is no possible way to punish a single program for this and not get themselves into a huge nightmare. They would have to punish all if they do punish. I would imagine that they would be more likely to send out a general warning to everyone if they do anything. I think the more likely scenario is that they do absolutely nothing. -
So you are saying that Andre Krimm may not have been eligible?

The other bad thing about the way this has all played out is the degradation of the sport. Long term, when other areas of the country are not competing or allowed to compete, they stop playing. This year was especially is bad for the game. The committee essentially told the country that football is a regional sport by excluding the Northeast, Midwest, and West. If this continues, then it will become that and the sport could very easily become a thing of the past.
-
It depends on how miserable you want to be the next day.
-
I am not sure that is really the case. It is easy to make these assertions based on our access to information and general population growth, but just because we hear about everything that happens across the country doesn't indicate some kind of trend. If there are actual statistics that back this up, that would be different, but this feels anecdotal.

Pretty much all of them.
