  1. Outstanding work, sir! Let me add that you already have a group at your disposal that wasn't in existence the last time the students voted on this---The Pit Crew. You really only need 2-3k votes to pass your referendum....so direct your campaigning efforts right at the people who have proven to show up in big numbers for all the bball games and you have a fighting chance. If it was me, I would stay away from doing a campus wide campaign for this to avoid stirring up too much crap and JUST focus on the GREEKS, the Pit Crew and all current student athletes. With that base, you should be able to win. Just the 2 cents of a former SA exec......
  2. With Texas State recently voting to add $$ to their athletic fund, what are the chances they leap-frog us by the time this shake-up occurs?? Just a thought---and a sickening one, at that. Our Pres and BOR need to start moving NOW if we are even going to keep up with our in-state competition.
  3. Alright...well how do we get them out of their offices and take their jobs, then?? Don't mean this to sound harse, but blaiming "they" and saying "their responsibility" just sounds like we've got more bending over to do, yet. Esp. when it comes from several here who seem to be much closer to the situation than most of us. Adler, your first post on this subject (in a separate thread) was flat out inspiring. Surely there are things that can be done to "help."
  4. Yes...that sucks. It sucks worse that that 28 day wait is for the Thanksgiving game. Why do we always get this damn game?? We have proven that we can't sell tickets or get butts in seats that weekend. Maybe bring in a rival like SMU, TCU...or even Baylor...but otherwise get this game off the friggin schedule. No whining about excuses and how we SHOULD be able to get people to games regardless of opponent or weekend--the fact is we haven't had more than 5k ever show up for a game on Thanksgiving weekend.
  5. Sweet!! If they'd just rebuild Pizza Hut Park in Denton, I'd be ECSTATIC. That place is great.
  6. Agreed. Vito has taken a lot of flak from the board that I think is unwarranted....but his writing style is definitely starting to grate on me--particularly the tone of his articles/blogs "trumping" Troy's recruiting class over ours.
  7. To me, this scenario makes sense and I would think would quiet just about everyone if true. IF this is the reasoning behind the change, though, why not include this in the mailer that all season ticket holders receive---or just the Mean Green Club members? Why not try to communicate this in order to not tick off a few folks? To me, I'm in regardless and I think most on here are. I'm also not super sensitive about every move the AD makes....BUT some are (not calling out KingDL1 here as his situation is pretty unique). Maybe there is no good way to raise ticket prices? But IF this is the reasoning, and the AD could have avoided raising the kind of stink we're seeing here on the board, then this just looks like another example of open communication between the stakeholders and the AD lacking at UNT.
  8. We are some cheap bastards around here... That said...we need a few more Tulsas, SMUs and TCUs on the schedule to warrant this kind of jump. I'm in for sure, regardless...but I definitely fear the effect this will have on our overall fanbase...
  9. Yes....if ASU did this, they would instantly be my second favorite college team! Come on, voters...make this happen!
  10. You guys want to help out Texas Tech?...and more specifically, Mike Leach?! Those guys wouldn't throw us a life preserver if we were about to drown. It doesn't matter...those guys won't play us anymore now that Leach is there and the last coach got run-off b/c we beat him twice in 3 years.
  11. Hawaii hires McMackin Who is J. Jones bringing in at dirty schmoo? I thought somebody mentioned he was bringing his DC with him. We already know they can throw more money at DeLoach than we can. Are we sure it's medical benefits from the state he cares about? Am I paranoid? Absolutely.
  12. I'll add my group to this mix as well. I used to love Beerman---when he was a couple hundred feet away and I could pass by as I pleased. Tailgating less than 10 feet from that setup is NOT good, though---esp. when you have kids. If the AD is listening, please address this situation next fall.
  13. Alright....any guesses as to WHICH Texas school??? If anyone so much as mentions dirty schmoo.....I will just lose it.
  14. Giving a guaranteed bid to each conference will NEVER fly. You would trigger the reverse of what we have now--closely consolidated conferences using the power in numbers theory....teams would be looking for a way OUT of the big conferences so that they could dominate a smaller conference. That doesn't make sense and won't happen (esp. with TV contracts mostly being made with conferences these days). No....what you will get is exactly what the Georgia President proposed. A bastardization of the current bowl situation that will ultimately kill the bowls not linked into the BCS and their mini-playoff. Can you imagine the interest that the lower tier bowls would attract in this scenario?? NONE. The one mystery here is whether or not going ahead with this would FINALLY push the non-bcs teams to band together and file a lawsuit to break this mess up?
  15. Expect more of the same with June Jones taking over there. I wish that UNT would schedule like this. Boise and Hawaii have laid out the map for all non-bcs teams to find the pot of gold. You can bet the big boys will be looking at a way to shut the door soon. I think the playoff plan that the Georgia president laid out is the start of that door closing....
  16. As soon as we start selling out Fouts with rabid fans we can trash whomever we want?! Probably not the best way to finish an otherwise good post.
  17. dirty schmoo was the rumor I heard....granted it was from an office smu homer.
  18. Nail. Hammer. Head. Couldn't have said it better. Thank you.
  19. Either you weren't at that game or you were severly impaired when you made that observation. CSU brought *MAYBE* 1-2k fans....and I sat in the middle tier b/c the lower tier on the NT side was full (except for the endzones). I think that 27k number is a joke, b/c there were probably 12-15k actual fans in the stands.
  20. I don't think I'll ever understand why dirty schmoo continues to push this phrase: "SMU, the only Division I athletic program in Dallas, Texas" Do they have a marketing group that thinks this is an angle they should constantly repeat?? Why doesn't TCU constantly regurgitate "TCU, the only Division I athletic program in Fort Worth, Texas"...or UTArlington, "UTA, the only Division I program in Arlington, Texas"...or UT Austin, "UT, the only Division I team in Austin, Texas"....or UTEP, etc....heck, lets spread out. Does Syracuse University constantly claim, "Syracuse, the only Division I program in Syracuse, New York". Who else?...we could go for days.... .....or, do they do it just to piss off the conspiracy theorists at North Texas?
  21. This thread is dumb. Criticizing Dodge for not giving Vito the first shot at breaking news is about the lamest thing I have ever, EVER heard.
  22. Agreed. This will be one of those games where ESPN uses nothing but extreme close-ups of the coaching staff and bench instead of wide-angle views to show the crowd and atmosphere...
  23. 700 or 1500 is flat out embarrassing for FAU and for the Sun Belt. There's no way to sugar coat it. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised come Friday night...
