  1. Sometimes I’ll preface an opinion with “I could be wrong...” but in this case that’s unnecessary. Sarkisian at worst will be a disaster at BEST will be Tom Herman. I wish I had this kind of money to burn.
  2. I had my fair share of complaints about GH. Then again it’s hard to tell whether it was Mason, GH, or SL to “blame”. Living out west it’s interesting to see how SC fans look at GH. Their offense is inconsistent and then they have a great twenty mins. They hate Helton so much GH probably gets shrapnel from that. I’d say he’s done okay. I still think we underperformed with Mason and those skill positions. Our PPG against decent teams was meh.
  3. Again, there’s no proven path but I’d like to see a P5 defensive coach (ex. LB coach) who is ready to make the coordinator jump. Kinda like a defensive Graham Harrell. Not sure if any current Texas P5 coach fits that bill.
  4. Some fun facts from the UH game in 1998 if my memory serves me right We dominated the first half but only led 9-7 at halftime, UH mauled us in the second half. Dickey called a timeout when we were deep in UH territory only to get a delay of game after the timeout. At halftime the PA guy was reading off scores of other games when he read this gem “in the second quarter Houston seven, North Texas six.” Then there was a long pause and groan from those listening. I remember thinking we can’t even read off scores right. UH had a kid get hurt and we wouldn’t drive the ambulance on the field. They pushed him all the way across the field on the gurney. UH was pissed, I didn’t blame them. If my memory is failing me, feel free to correct. I remember after that game thinking we had some talent but we weren’t ready to win consistently. Also I thought Dickey’s red zone play-calling was abysmal. Field goals don’t win games like that.
  5. We never had a Sun Belt game with that many people in the end zone. Not even NMSU champ game.
  6. Freeze and Petrino weren’t fired for being bad coaches. I don’t see anybody pointing out that Sumlin was winless this year (should’ve beat USC though) and is coming off the worse loss in UA history. And we want that guy? We might want to ask why this keeps happening to us and I’m not saying it’s the main problem but we definitely have issues with our assistant coaches. We keep letting head coaches bring in friends or keep leftovers. There are people who have a better pulse on that situation than me but it doesn’t seem we are replacing quality with quality. We are on our third OC in three years, that can’t be good. I get why people are pissed at SL, I’m not happy either. I just want to know if there’s a problem with our infrastructure and can fix that before we throw away more money.
  7. There’s no proven path of hiring a new coach but the track record of a G5 hiring a retread on his way down is abysmal. There may be a small bump but it usually goes off a cliff pretty quick. Hmmm, there’s a name in (our) recent history but it escape me....
  8. I have a question- looking back at how much talent was on those teams, did we significantly underachieve those two years?
  9. The Harsin hire doesn’t make a lot of sense, reminds of when Nebraska fired Solich. You’re firing a guy who averaged going 9-3 for a guy who at best will go 9-3. Harsin got snarky over the criticism he received at BSU. Good luck with that in Alabama. Edit- After rechecking he averaged more like 8-4 in the regular season.
  10. Hell yes, I celebrate those players. In fact I celebrate just about any player who wore the Green. For the most part they were good kids who busted their ass so I can enjoy my Saturdays. I do appreciate what DD did here. He brought in some of the best players we’ve ever had. He did more with less especially having to put up with RV. I’d drop too many f bombs if I said anything about Mac. Might want to look at your posts from the last 24 hours. If that is “celebrating” SL, 😳.
  11. Shows they still care about UNT. And as much as you show your frustration about EVERYTHING on here, I’d cut some players who balled out for this program a little slack.
  12. Yesterday if you combine third and fourth down, we converted at 43% while App St was at 40%. We converted ten of those while they converted only four. We lost by 28. We had EIGHTEEN third down tries yesterday. That means your offense is incredibly inefficient on first and second. We all use stats but with this team stats are mostly useless. Especially against decent teams. You can prop up any rose-colored opinion you want but anybody who watched this team this year cannot believe we are anywhere close to being good. Can it change? Possibly with major changes on both sides of the ball. But back to back years of incredibly questionable coaching and direction has me doubtful. And it won’t matter to anybody that matters but I’m disappointed that we have a coach who drowns the fan base in coach speak and doesn’t even make the effort to let us know he will fix it.
  13. This is my take. We’re paying him too much to start over. Suck it up and figure this shit out.
  14. I’m actually pretty impressed by the OL play this year especially since they’ve been put in bad situations. That part gives me hope.
  15. I might believe you if you said this offense has the talent to win in CUSA. But this scheme and play calling won’t.
  16. This is why our offense isn’t what it seems to be on paper. We don’t get the points we should.
  17. I’m not one to usually blame the refs but..... Another game that turned on a BS holding non-call on Scott Blank. He was tackled (literally) from behind as he was rushing the QB on a play they scored. Also for you newbies, this game was part of a long stretch of back up QBs coming into a game and killing us.
  18. Nine games and we can’t choose a starter nor design a game plan around their strengths. Let’s see what happens against a good team without the offense’s security blanket. Personally I wish we would go with tight formations and just play smashball.
  19. People keep mentioning a payout but we won't make much from the game. We'll receive a little bit but most goes to the conference office to be split between CUSA schools (Reason #257 that this conference is too big). @Arkstfancould probably explain it better but after expenses we may barely break even since there will be minimal attendance.
  20. Good on Darden for a great night but a couple middle of the road recruiting classes aren’t going to fix this mess of a program. Next year any capable team is going to throttle us and then we’ll throw in two losses to bad teams. And this is still a game with six minutes left.
