Slaughter for WKU hurt us in the SBC Conference Tournament with a couple of timely three's over our shorter defenders. It's not that they were really out of place, he was just able to get around a screen and shoot over our guards. I'd like to see us find another guard that's around 6-3.

I'm dissapointed that this offseason has yet to present a quality Green Helmet or New Logo on the Helmet/Field thread? What is GMG coming to?

I don't know man...watching those games, they're were hustling pretty good out there. 2nd half of the Western game, we couldn't get the shots to go when we needed them. Slaughter hit those back to back three's that were just killer. They tried to gut one out, it was just too little, too late. The MTSU game, we completely dominated them physically. That's really what I was referring to in my previous post. The WKU fans were really impressed with how physically tough NT played MT in the quarters. They were not looking forward to the match up with us in the next round. I talked to a ton of their fans, and UNT was the only team that they really feared could beat them in the tourney. They were largely dismissive of UALR, Troy, and USA. Not trying to be argumentative, just trying to pass along many of WKU's fan's sentiment about UNT. It's a small thing, but significant in meaning to me. To have fans of a team like WKU, who has been the league power forever, view UNT as a legitimate threat to them bodes well for us going forward.

Agreed. Also, going forward, I don't think Western Kentucky is going to want to see much of North Texas early in the tournament. Talking with their fans in Hot Springs this year, they weren't real excited about getting us in the semis. They were pretty worried about us, especially after they watched what we did to MTSU. Very complimentary about our physicality and overall team depth.

They were a perfect blend of creepiness and awesomeness.

FT shooting was certainly a factor, but our inability to knock down open jumpers, as well as wide open layups/floaters contributed to the loss as well. UALR is content to junk up the game. They took us out of our transition game, and the refs were more than happy to blow the whistle (on both ends). If we shot a halfway decent percentage from the floor, we win the game. No question in my mind. A very ugly game, but I left with the feeling that UALR is a beatable team come tournament time.
