  1. 2013-14 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Division I Final Standings NOTE: 20 total teams can be scored for the final standings (10 M, 10 W sports) http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/nacda/sports/directorscup/auto_pdf/2013-14/misc_non_event/june26stand.pdf North Texas finished in a tie at #236 with Marshall, Buffalo, Northern Illinois, and Bucknell. That put us in a tie for 11th in C-USA with the Thundering Herd of Marshall. Right now we're somewhat handicapped with only 5 men's and 9 women's programs, but I'd love to see us consistently competing for a top 75 spot in this.

  2. #66 Utah Looks like were next... Who's No. 65? A seven-win finish in 2014 would give this program its best two-year win total since 2003-4.

  3. You know, I hate to sound negative, but other than having the good sense to hire Coach Mac, what is so praise worthy of our program. Yes, a new stadium was built, thanks to the student vote (and UNTFLYER). But Apogee is starting it's fourth season and we've yet to have a sell out. There needs to be many non-coaching staff working for the University that is just as pumped as Mac and just as capable of grabbing the mic at a moments notice and extoling the virtues of the "Mean Green" and getting people excited. As a program, we all stand back and let Mac do it. And I'm telling everyone for the umpteenth time IT'S NOT HIS JOB AND HE CAN'T DO IT ALL!

  5. Dang, can't wait for the Mean Green to take the field again. The wait is killing me. Especially this year with all the unanswered questions coming off a great year. Can't wait to see Coach Mac getting these guys pumped. I'm sure glad we have the leader we do and super excited that we signed him to a longer contract too! Oh...and what our new unis will look like!! Haha GO MEAN FREAKIN GREEN!!

  6. Yeah, don't kid yourselves. Big schools make non-commitable "offers"...neither of us can do that. According to Woods himself he was deciding between UTSA and UNT (Texas State was out of the running) and went with us.

  7. Agreed. That's why this must be a grass roots campaign. Following the letter of the law, spitting in the face of the spirit.

  8. conference mate, Marshall, joins the list of those with an indoor practice facility. Smart move making it available to all sports. Cost: $14 million, but that also included a full indoor track and a permanent Hall of Fame http://www.herald-dispatch.com/x720297576/University-applies-finishing-touches

  9. What's Belgium famous for? Chocolates and child abuse. And they only invented the chocolates to get to the kids.

  13. But seriously, when I heard of this this morning, I had no idea that the power of law could cancel a trademark for being offensive. I had always been under the impression that only social change or organizational policy like the NCAA could force a change like that. Still not sure how I feel about this being a legal matter. Now as to the name itself, Redskins isn't like Illini or Seminoles or Fighting Irish or even Indians. It's not even like changing the name of the Cowboys to the Dallas Rednecks. There are plenty of people in DFW who walk around every day proudly proclaiming themselves rednecks. I've never been up to Oklahoma and heard anyone refer to themselves as a redskin. Redskins is akin to the Raiders changing their name to the Oakland Niggers. A term that has nothing but derogatory meaning and whose time has long since come and gone.

  20. I agree, but from what I have encountered the professors at UNT, at least the ones I have had, are not sports type of people. They could care less what North Texas does in athletics. The one professor exception I had that was a sports guy didn't even know North Texas was a FBS "major" college football program. Still doesn't excuse the lack of general school spirit from the faculty. A lot of them need to step their game up. It wouldn't take 30 seconds to give a shout out to the football team during the fall semester. A lot of students idolize their professors and would take note to a little something like that. GMG

  21. It's sad that a school the size of ours only sponsors 5 men's sports...

  22. I agree.. The team doesn't see him as a leader. This team was a totally different team under the leadership of Nathan Tune. Tune is a disciplined athlete that makes everyone around him play to their potential. Also, I believe this team has lost faith in Todge and I'm sure they are taking it out on Rodge now. This team probably feels like they aren't going to be able to get it done underneath this coach. Would anyone after you work hard day in/day out and only have 3 wins in 4 years??

  23. I guess you feel the team thinks of him as their leader. Well how many times do you see a QB score a TD and only 2 players go over and congratulate him. When a QB scores a TD, especially a running TD, at least the entire line comes into the endzone to celebrate with him. Just think about it and you probably won't think it's hilarious any more, but instead, might even think it's pretty dang scary.
