Time to rename the Transfer Portal process?

Let's be honest, it is now the college version for Free Agency.

You could have a great drinking game if you took a shot every time the word transfer was said. One on the announcers this past weekend even commented how it was very "convent" that schools like Alabama and other "Power" schools just happen to get all conference players for just the positions that they needed help on. We all know recruiting is going on (ex - Tre Siggers - SMU's top recruiters father is a long time Dallas area coach who seems to have made contact with several future SMU transfers before they left their previous schools). Between the recruiting and the ability/need to pay players (just ask Gary Patterson) it's time to call it what it is; Free Agency. These additional 7 scholarships being offered if you lose 7 or more players are not being offered to help with HS player they are there because coaches like Nick Sabin complained about his problem with depth from his backups moving on. Do I think the NCAA will do anything about it? NO! They are absolutely scared that the P5 schools will break away and are not going to do anything to piss them off.

No, they are much more afraid of court rulings favoring the individual (player) versis the team concept and fair competition.

Obviously, having the effect of making players a lot more mobile and the NCAA less relevant.

You are correct this type of "free agency" if allowed to continue will consecrate the best players into tier 1 teams.    NIL rulings and ease of transferring greatly increased will ultimately destroy college football.

NCAA football will evolve into a pro league of the top 30 or so teams.  Hopefully, the rest of the teams can get some type of reorganization that will substantially reduce costs and foster competition.
