  1. Planning to join in the drink specials and try this place out. Can't wait to see it. Hope to a have a friend with me. I hope I don't read Saturday morning that it will be blacked out. Keep us posted on the board, Harry. Thanks for everything.
  2. I do have concerns over Tiger sanity: do you really want the game in Baton Rouge this badly? LSU FOOTBALL IS LSU FOOTBALL WOOOOO
  3. Completely agree with opposing QBs, but just my humble opinion: the o-line has been a pleasant surprise so far. He's had some series against both opponents where he had plenty of time to make his reads. /maybe I'm hallucinating?
  4. You can't have this only one way. *preface: I was all for Riley redshirting too. But I think this counterpoint needs to be said* You think he can't take us to the promised land now, like basketball? I agree, but you have to hold this candle to his fifth year too. Senior Riley isn't going to mean jack shit if we start losing out on some recruiting wars and he's surrounded by second-choicers down the road because we lost DE choice #1, etc, to Arkie State because they just beat A&M this year. Look at the immediate return. This season, not 3 years from now, is absolutely critical for Dodge. You absolutely have to consider that if Riley - directly or indirectly - wins us a 1 or 2 extra Belt games this year that we wouldn't otherwise, it could mean some momentum in an otherwise disastrous season. What are we risking? Seriously? Reality check, Mean Greeners: We don't have Michael Vick here, and this isn't basketball. Dodge has had two recruiting seasons under him (really, less than 1.5) and he's gotten us Vizza AND Riley...and so now Smitty is worried we're going to have some kind of drop-off after Riley in the depth chart 3 years - and subsequent 3 more recruited QBs - from now? We need to win NOW. And get us another decent recruiting class (along with Riley's heir) down the road. /done
  5. He is a Denton native. Always nice for a Denton paper to touch base with a Denton success story.
  6. When can we expect him to be back in the rotation, start, etc...? Any guesses?
  7. Shouldn't the athletics site be updating the roster as they come and go?
  8. I wouldn't consider the Gilmore/Tulsa thing a swap. Tulsa was an ass whoop, and I lost a lot of energy watching that. Gilmore will probably not see the field this week, and it wouldn't surprise me if it takes several weeks for him to crack the rotation. This is not a statement against his ability, but rather his game shape, etc... I look forward to his helping us out in Belt play, whenever that might be.
  9. FYI, there is somewhat of an unconventional (but a pleasant surprise) going-on that I would invite you all to go see and hear if you have the opportunity. From the Facebook event for the Rice game, arranged by UNT: Romero has performed the complete Beethoven sonatas in cycle, among many other collections. I encourage anyone to set aside the brats and bocks just for a moment (gasp!), try something new, and listen to this wonderful performer/teacher. UNT bio personal page
  10. Nothing to do with heart. Les just likes to see what his kickers can do on the occasional 4th down.
  11. I believe they could, and hope they don't.
  12. So it's offically still in Baton Rouge?
  13. For what it's worth: We held a Big XII opponent in Manhattan to our 2007 average, which included Belt opponents, and Tulsa is going to be doing that to everyone. That offense is where we dream to be. Having said that, I know KSU offense is nothing to write home about, and TU could have hung 100 on us and still not have to clean Johnson's jersey. Anyone else want to talk x-and-o's? Like, as prolific as Dodge's offense can be (whether high school or college), it might be the most boring "looking" spread to the casual fan? I mean, TU has all these options, spins, sweeps, zone reads. It just seems like we have less than 6 formations and a rare man in motion going on. I'm not knocking on Dodge. But it does make me wonder how it worked so well in high school. Is he some kind of genius with the way he manipulates the secondary with our WR routes? Just looking for some in-and-outs kind of info. Something to look for the next time I watch the team play.
  14. Thank God we're past the reality check and back to where we could have been. Now let's get ready to beat LSU. Thank you Gilmore!
  15. I was not aware UNT offered a 3 week semester outside of May. Why was I not informed during my undergrad? I'm hurt. I demand an apology from my academic advisers.
  16. I got a view from both sides. 2/3 or 3/4 is a gross mis-estimate for the alumni side. In fact, it was as empty as I can ever recall at kickoff? Maybe I have the green goggles and the mis-estimate...but that's what I saw.
  17. Anything wrong with doing this every game until the vote? I mean, they can work out the issues/kinks they had on Saturday, and get more and more attention.
  18. I thought when Dunbar returned it, aside from his fumble, he was bringing it all the way out to the 30 - 35?
  19. Some of you have missed the suggestion that he may be saving his redshirt for somewhere else. We need to win.
  20. Got a text about this an hour ago. The college basketball world just lost one of the greatest.
