  1. God our shooting is just awful right now.
  2. This team has lost all of it's confidence. They have 12 min to turn things around.
  3. While I am not willing to block people because of it, this off season is going to be really annoying in that regard. The only homework these reporters are doing is to look at the most recently successful mid-major coaches and throwing them in the mix for every open P5 position. Not every "winning" coaches style is going to fit every opening. I could see Grants defensive approach not really appealing to a lot of P5 players with overinflated egos. These top guys were recruited because of their scoring ability. A lot of the top players simply don't want to put an emphasis on playing strong defense IMO.
  4. The bad loss in the semi-finals yesterday will start to cause some of these media rumors to stop. Imagine if NT would have made it to the sweet 16 this year ? The rumors would be off the charts.
  5. The good news is that we are headed to the AAC soon enough. It is still a step up from CUSA in basketball and should be a 2 bid conference some or most years. Losing Houston will be a hit to the AAC BBall. But, the AAC will still have SMU, Memphis, Wichita State and even Temple. Add in UNT's recent history and UAB's success. That is a step up for us and the AAC obviously has a bit more prestige than CUSA and a much better commissioner. Yesterday was very disappointing. But, moving up in conferences, with Grant at the helm (hopefully), gives some real hope for the future. I feel really good and proud of our program. We have been headed upwards for several years now.
  6. They are still going dancing. But, the lady just became much less attractive.
  7. Maybe some of the basketball teams work ethic and success, will rub off on the football team. I am just not that optimistic about this coming season until we prove that we have upgraded the most important position on the field.
  8. Bell 0-6 from the line ? Just awful.
  9. 17-2 UTEP. Unreal. Our guys can't hit anything at all. They need to calm down.
  10. 8-2 UTEP. Bell misses both FT's. That is the one big flaw with this team.
  11. I really, really want a win today. That would put this team at 24-4. A win in the 1st round of the conference tourney puts them at 25-4. The .NET ranking should stay in the upper 30's. A loss today and we can probably kiss the at-large possibility goodbye. If our guys were to get tripped up in the conference semi-finals or championship game with a close loss. I still believe most likely this team gets an at large bid. The team is getting a lot of press. A 25-5 or 26-5 record would still be very impressive. The CUSA tourney is going to be tough those last 2 games. UAB is our near equal. MT is playing really well. La Tech and a weakened WKU are always dangerous. North Texas has a very rare opportunity this year for an at-large bid. Winning the CUSA tourney is no guarantee. Of course, the NIT is a good consolation prize. But, I think this teams expectations are higher. Just win !
  12. Well MT was upset by Charlotte tonight. So, the Mean Green have clinched the conference outright (no tie breakers needed). Next 2 games are huge in order to have a chance at an at-large bid. With all the press the team is getting, I really think that is possible.
  13. Temperatures are forecast to be above freezing Thursday afternoon and early evening. But, just barely. It's already below freezing in Denton and is supposed to stay below freezing until late Thursday morning. Hopefully, any ice will melt Thursday afternoon. Probably light crowd Thursday night though if they play.
  14. I am pretty sure that I saw an article saying that no team with a .NET ranking of 41 or lower in the past has been shut out of the Tourney. We are 39 now obviously. Winning out the regular season (definitely not a given) should get us a bid IMO, unless the team completely implodes in the CUSA Tourney opener. It will be close though. I also think that past NCAA CUSA tourney results should have some impact (but they don't). CUSA auto bid schools have won 5 of the last 6 NCAA 1st round games, all seeded 12 or lower. That is an amazing accomplishment and should probably boost a conferences strength a bit. The Big 10 always seems to get 8 to 10 teams in the tourney and usually underachieves. That's just not right IMO.
  15. I like him. You can tell he is a great X's and O's coach. It's no wonder NT and UAB are the top teams in CUSA. It's the coaching. That's not to take anything away from the players. In the end, you have to execute. So proud of this team from top on down. That was one hell of a tough road win.
  16. Did Grant make some kind of adjustment at half time ? It would not surprise me
  17. Absolutely. Those turnovers have been brutal. UAB is so tough at home. Their closest conference win at home has been by 11.
  18. My God McCasland is special. I have been a UNT fan since '86. I have never seen a tactician like him in any of UNT's major sports. Rice didn't have a prayer against NT in either game, because of Grant's defense. If and when Grant is purged by a bigger program, Ross Hodge needs to be the HC (unless he gets purged). We need to keep this system going from within. Hodge has been with Grant for many years, knows the system and has seen the results here. The blueprint for winning here has been set.
  19. I do think that Joe Golding was a hell of a hire for UTEP. ACU knocking off Texas in the tourney last year was just stunning. I expect them to continue rising over the next couple of years.
  20. I wasn't too bummed about losing players to the portal this year, until the Murphy twins decided to leave 😞
  21. Yikes USM up 10-0. 5 turnovers already.
  22. Grant is about a sure thing as you can get from a coach. He wins with players that fit his system, who are not necessarily superstars. He just seems to retool every year with under the radar guys.
