***Official Marshall vs. North Texas In-Game Discussion***
akriesman replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Football
With Liberty coming in town next week, we could be looking at 3 straight blowouts at home. The team needs to get it together TODAY. Marshall is not that good. -

This game is completely unwatchable right now with all the flags. -

No words. This team cannot get out of their own way right now. -

Good lord this team seems unprepared and undisciplined. Same thing every week. -

New week. Same results. -
Aresco is a real commissioner. He has done a good job with the AAC. He gets his name out there. They are nowhere near a P5 conference. But, he thinks big and that is a good thing IMO. Judy on the other hand......

I personally would love that alignment and don't see any cons. It's very regional with 5 Texas teams. We would get to continue our annual games against SMU. Memphis is a nice add. I just have a hard time believing that the other AAC teams (especially SMU) would go along with that plan, even though it makes perfect sense. The AAC saw themselves as a borderline P5 conference, before losing their marquee programs. Some of those schools will probably continue that mentality even with a diluted conference. Also, which side gets stuck with Judy (eastern or western) ? That could be a problem for some schools.

DRC: Report -- C-USA's presidents to hear realignment proposal

The MWC does interest me. However, the late kickoffs are a concern. I still remember the Big West days. -

For an SEC team, Missouri is going to have a rough year. 3 Turnovers and they are only up by 13 against a struggling CUSA FB team. -

Beat the spread. Beat the spread. That is what winning has come to. -

It's just not fun being a North Texas fan these days. Just hoping just not to be blown out is a terrible feeling. -

I think it is nothing more than a lesser of evils at this point. -

I honestly don't know what to expect. My gut is telling me it won't end well (not close). I just want to see overall improvement from this team in all aspects, because right now nothing has been a strength. 19 point underdogs ? Seems about right. -
Isn't it pretty much common knowledge that the MWC has no interest in UTEP ? Also, I doubt that SMU goes to another "equal" conference and pays all those fees to move west. UTSA can't seem to afford moving to the AAC. Would the MWC be any different for UTSA ? (that is a question, not a statement). Rice has plenty of money, but seems more interested in contributing to academics over athletics. Despite our struggling football team, UNT seems to check a lot of boxes for the MWC. I would say that UNT and UTSA would be front runners for the MVC, IF they expand. But, I am not sure about UTSA now that they turned down the AAC because of financial reasons (allegedly). Rice may still in the picture for the MWC. But, Rice seems to fit the AAC better with the other private schools (just MHO). Nobody mentions Texas State. But, I would assume they would be outliers at this point. I honestly like playing UTSA, UTEP, Rice, La Tech, USM and UAB. It's too bad CUSA wasn't advancing as a conference, because the regional fit right now is pretty good for us (I am still convinced Judy has something to do with the negative conference appeal). What a mess. I just wish the AAC would make their mind up already. I guess the same goes for the Big 12.

Sadly, this North Texas team is nothing like the one that clobbered Arkansas (before slinking back into mediocrity or worse).
-
Strong no to Orgeron. I also just see an expensive Dan McCarney V2. On a side note, I could not possibly listen to his press conferences.
-
Or, Missouri is just not that good. Maybe our guys should be pissed off.

Smart move by CSU and AFA. Unfortunate news for UNT.
-
Nothing against the AAC, as I would love for UNT to be a member. But, it makes no sense for CSU and AFA to join the AAC, especially when schools are trying to regionalize more. Plus, they lose their long time rivalries. With that said, I was hoping they would go to the AAC, to free up the possibility of NT, Rice, UTSA and UTEP going to the MWC together. If SMU had gone to the Big 12, I would like our chances of getting into the AAC, being in the Dallas market.
-
I am not thrilled with playing the current MWC members and a lot of it has to do with perceived distance. I remember the Big West days all too well. However, with the weak CUSA leadership, it is becoming almost a necessity to try and leave. The MWC is generally seen as the 7th most powerful conference out of 10. If they were to expand and add UNT, UTSA, Rice and UTEP, I would be all for it. We would still have Texas schools as travel partners, in a more stable conference (if there is such a thing).

"The conference went from a total payout of about $14 million to roughly $2 million, a stunning 86% decrease. Around the same time, the MAC committed to a 13 year deal with ESPN that pays out around $10 million per year." And people wonder why schools are wanting to bail from CUSA. IMO, this is probably the most likely reason. Those contracts are pathetic. Who is responsible ? Judy ? The universities ? Both ? I am guessing it's a little of both. But, isn't it Judy's job to promote the conference and seek better contracts ? When a sports team struggles for an extended time, the coach is replaced whether or not they are directly responsible for the decline. In this case, CUSA has seen a steady decline since Judy took over almost 6 years ago. 6 years is about 3 years too many. She has to go, or we do.
