JJ was a great coach for us. But, Grant is special. I am just going to enjoy the ride for as long as I can and hope that Grant wants to take this school to the next level (AAC) in basketball.

Darden was slated to be a 2nd or 3rd day draft pick already. I can understand his desire to avoid injury in a bowl game, even though it did hurt his school Torrey, as terrific as he has been for us (and much appreciated), may have benefitted from the additional bowl exposure. At this point he is probably looking at UDFA status. Just my opinion. I hope an agent didn't give him bad advice and I hope DeAndre finds an NFL team to land on. But, if that doesn't work out, you have to wonder if he will regret not playing in a bowl game in his senior season. The bowls really sucked this year IMO. So many key players either sitting them out due to the draft or transfer portal.

Nope. Not to that level. They probably should have though. We averaged 2.8 yds per carry today.

I mentioned that about them selling out against the run. They were putting 8 or 9 guys in a tight box probably within 10 yards of the LOS, depending on whether or not NT went 2 or 3 wide. It is hard for the best running teams to run through that. You can push the DL, but the LB's and Safety are all right there. The safety was in the box consistently, leaving the WR's all 1 on 1 with no safety help. They dared us to throw the ball. An average QB would have shredded that defense. I am sure that Seth wanted to run the ball. But, he saw that was just not possible. But, it is his fault that we don't even have an average QB to take advantage of a huge passing opportunity. Another embarrassing bowl loss.

Aune is going to cost us the game. I cringe every time he drops back to throw. Just cost us 3 points.

Miami is completely selling out to stop the run (as they should). They are putting everyone in the box and going single coverage. We should have guys wide open all over the place. They are making Aune beat them. And, of course, Aune is not consistent enough for that.

Specifically versus 12 personnel formations, which is how we run a majority of the time.

When it comes to UNT basketball, Grant very well may go down with legend status here. His ability to take unheralded players and build a quality, well-coached team from them is such a pleasure to watch. We really need to enjoy the ride.

Nope. I am OK with Seth coaching next year, unless we get blown out in the bowl game again. But, if he were to leave, I wouldn't be upset either.

North Texas has been underdogs in all of Seth's bowl games. Troy was the closest at -6. Last year we were 21 point dogs to Appy State (rightly so). This should be the first time our guys are favored since the 2014 HOD bowl, when North Texas was favored by 6. This is Seth's big chance and I am pretty sure that he knows it.

I'll take it. We need to win a bowl game. This is as good of an opportunity as any.

Glad we won't have to face Zappe ever again. At least we got him with a weakish Houston Baptist squad.

He's a senior I believe. Next stop for him could be the NFL IMO. He won't be a high draft pick. But, he could be a mid round steal.

WKU's defense looks a lot like ours did last year. Huge gaping holes in the run defense.

I don't really care about most of those games. However, I do think WKU will beat UTSA and fairly easily. Zappe is just really, really good. I want Cincy to be undefeated. If they still get screwed out of a playoff spot, there will be hell to pay.

I am a football guy first, basketball second. But, beating Purdue last year in the NCAA's was the most excited that I have been since being a North Texas fan (1986 grad).

Zappe is pretty special. He is the difference maker in this one IMO. WKU had better enjoy him while they can, because he is one and done for them. The kid will make some NFL roster next year.
