  1. Again, the problem with the Pit is that the academic side owns it. They have been almost completely uncooperative when it comes to updating. When the academic side kicked the women's team out of a home game and we had to play at TWU, enough was enough. We need a new arena across the highway ASAP.
  2. I am a middle school teacher. I got it the first week students came back on campus face to face. I had morning cafeteria duty the first day students came back. I had to tell the kids over and over to wear the mask over their nose too or to pull it up. It was a constant issue telling them to wear the mask in the classroom (they want to take it off at their seats). I had afternoon bus duty that same day. It was a mask free zone when they were waiting on their parents - not because we allowed it, but they would not listen. I tested positive at the end of the week. I have not been back to work since then because I cannot go 3 days without a fever. Most days it is over 100.
  3. Speaking as someone who currently has Covid, it is the real thing. It is relentless and EVERY step should be taken to keep it from spreading. If it means we cancel a football game, then we cancel. If you think it isn't real or isn't that bad, then I would guess you probably have not had it.... and I hope you don't.
  4. I hope they lose every game they play, in every sport, in the worst possible way, until the end of time. And the same now goes for the Astros. I wish both of them nothing but failure and misery.
  5. It will come down to three things: 1) Can we get off the field on 3rd down 2) Can we keep them from hitting the home run ball on our secondary 3) Can we run the ball at all
  6. We also beat UTA in their last football game, but that one was in Denton.
  7. He has been passed by better recruiting. I am not worried at all to see him in another jersey.
  8. What I liked: Our corners were better than anything we ran out there last year. We played several and changed them repeatedly to keep them fresh. The last group of freshmen are not ready. It was obvious last year game 1 that we were in trouble in the secondary. Maybe not so much this year. We also did not show much variety in scheme (probably because we did not have to). I also liked that we seem to have moved a couple of guys to safety that were not playing there last year. Cam and Gibbs both were much better at safety. I think last year we were asking them to play out of position. Noted is that most of the H.B. scheme was to get the ball out quickly. They will complete a lot of short routes. At that point, you have to tackle. We tackled better than last year, but I still probably would not list that as a strength. What concerns me: That I saw, we never got out of a 3 man front, not even on the goal line. Our DL is a collection of 3 techniques. They are not built to rush the passer and cannot get to the QB when you rush 3 against 5 or 6. We got very little pressure from our down people and I don't think that we will in this scheme. Noted is that H.B. threw a lot of short routes. Their scheme is designed to get the ball out of the QB's hands quickly. It is hard to pressure that scheme. Also, we do not stunt very well from the second level. When your strength is speed, don't run into the fat guys. When the fat guy grabs you, the speed thing is over. Also noted is that when the ball is gone quickly, it does not do much good to stunt. The overall defense is better than last year's, but it almost had to be. The scheme is better. The kids are in places where they can make plays. If this defense can just be average, I think we will be okay.
  9. Name 3 QB's in the last 15 years better than Bean. Mason is a gimme. D. Thompson maybe. Anyone else? He will suffer by comparison this year, but he is head and shoulders better than almost anything we've had. He will just continue to get better.
  10. Call the ticket office. I think Connor may be the one working with parking....maybe.
  11. As long as we don't have a safety responsible for B gap and we can actually man cover at the corners, I don't care much who goes where. Also, Oscar will be a beast.
  12. I hope Cam is the best nickel or dime corner in the conference. His inability to man cover cost us La Tech two years ago and cost us in all 12 games last year. He clearly wasn't our only problem on defense last year, but he was a major problem. I'm all for him playing a significant but reduced role. I hope Rucker is the real thing. It would be a big first step to having a quality defense again.
  13. Only if home and home means both games at Apogee. Screw them. They have looked down their nose at us forever. Both games in Apogee or go pound sand.
  14. You think he lists his school as North Texas (where he got is degree) or some other school?
  15. They won't be the last state to do this. Would not surprise me a bit if Texas does the same. It would make a lot of two sport athletes choose. With the overlap, those that play a second sport would probably not be able to do both. But, it could give a marginal player more playing time in his chosen sport.
  16. So, what exactly is the point of this article? If you want good people, it is going to cost. I have no problem with what we are paying any of them. I just wish it could be more.
  17. In the future, all series against P5 are one for one AND the first game is in Denton. Then if you want to cancel, we will talk about a buyout.
  18. It looks like she did not play at all the last 10 games for Tech. The last game she played was for 2 minutes in a 30 point win. Seems to me like she might me there for depth and a solid practice player, both of which are important to winning teams. Seems like a good, last minute pick up. Maybe she can help, maybe just bench depth (which we had little of this year). And she is only here for a year if she cannot help. I think the girls are about to be REALLY good.
  19. He seems to take a lot of pride in his blocking. That tells me plenty about his attitude and work ethic. He reminds me a little of Guyton with vertical speed. Sometimes a kid just runs so effortless. Glad we got him.
  20. The only thing I would add to GrayEagle's post is that there needs to be a standard for who counts as attendance. You should not get to count the ushers and concession workers.
  21. Amen. Do it. I am not a fan of the pod play that we have been doing.
  22. She wasn't injured. She got crossways with Coach Mitchell and never came back. I am glad she graduated, but she was not hurt.
  23. It is funny what these kids (or whoever is putting together their highlight video) think is a highlight. Putting pressure on a QB when the other team blows an assignment is not really a highlight. I was much more impressed with the second play and another late in the film when a lineman tries to kick him out and he drops him like a bad habit. I like when people try to cut him and he has good feet and great hands. I like how he moves lateral keeping his shoulders square. I like how he runs in man coverage. But pushing down a QB when you weren't blocked..... well, okay I guess.
