  1. Maybe if these expectations could be clearly defined by you, others may be able to understand where you're coming from. Otherwise, as a bystander who has not chimed in on this thread yet, you're just a guy dumping on the team's efforts. You must admit that LSU is far superior to any other team we'll be playing this year. Right? Despite your disagreement with what it stands for, LSU was ranked #3 in the preseason poll for a reason. They are VERY GOOD. As a UNT fan, you must be able to find something this team did well in Baton Rouge. Right? If no, did you watch the game? Did you see the O-line's efforts? Did you see Jackson's hit? Did you see Chancellor? Did you see Whitfield intercept a pass? Those are all encouraging plays. Do you expect this same result against TX Southern? K-St? Houston? Any Belt school? The Mean Green lost a game and is now 0-1. I don't think anyone is happy or excited about that. Bottom-line, this is what it's about and of-course McCarney, being about the bottom line, is not happy with 0-1. But that does not mean the fan base should not look for what the team did well in the game and look forward to those advantages against other competition. That's all we're doing here. Can you find anything encouraging about the LSU game?
  2. What is the path that Boise St. took? What is the path that Snyder's KSSt teams took in the late 80's - early 90's? What is the path that Fresno St. took in the 90's? Schiano's Rutgers teams in mid 2000's? Patterson's TCU squad? Heck, what is the path that coach McCarney's IASt team took in the late 90's - early 2000's? These teams went from the bottom to solid contenders. If those teams played a top 5 team every year in their OOC slate, then full steam ahead! Let's keep going now that we have the coaching staff in place to do this. If not, then what the heck are we doing getting our rears kicked for no reason?
  3. Right. If that is a blitz that they use often and usually works for them, then that is a good sign. If it was a blitz that the D-coordinator dreamed up earlier that week and used against UNT to see if it works, then who knows?
  4. Unless LSU was not going all-out and experimenting with defensive schemes, then I am looking forward to the offensive trenches being dominated by the Mean Green for the remainder of the season (including the K-State game).
  5. YES! Take this, then put McCarney's face on there jibjab style. Bingo. Winner.
  6. If we make it very close or win, OR get blown out, then yes it certainly will. If it's a 5 - 15 pt loss, then I doubt it really shows us anything new.
  7. Very thankful for your boy's time here. He flew under the radar, but was a rock. Now that he has graduated, I hope you're Mean Green fans for life. But, in this scenario, you pull for your alma mater. Then, go back to rooting for both.
  8. Honestly, I don't think this week will tell us a whole lot either. Houston. That game will tell us a lot. Troy. That game will tell us a lot.
  9. There's gonna be a Booger on the wall in the HOF. As for the exclusion of Hall, we can't just put them all in at once. He's a lock for next season. You have to spread them out a little so that you have great players to put in each year.
  10. Zach Orr was in on 10 tackles including a tackle for loss. Coach McCarney lauded his performance yesterday on the coaches show.
  11. And the next highlight @ 4:17 shows just how fast that LSU defense is. If that were against any belt team, Byrd would have had at least 20 yards. Instead, you see him 5 yards past the line of scrimmage with plenty of room to run, then out of nowhere, 3 LSU defenders are on him and he's down 5 yards later. Crazy.
  12. Mine didn't either... I thought I hit submit... oh well.
  13. Ah yes. Good to see that my prognostication skills are still sharp.
  14. Oh. In that case, incomplete pass.
  15. Hate to be a downer here... but the first 'big play' for North Texas will probably happen in the 4th quarter when LSU's starters are out...unless you count a QB sack as a big play, in that case, we'll have one of those before the end of the 1st half. Thompson to Chancellor over the middle, and Brelan makes some nifty moves for a sizable gain (~50 yds)/touchdown.
  16. any time I read any post from rockguitarist4life, I mentally put Eddie Van Halen's Eruption behind it.
  17. I'd also like to throw some dirt on Tanner by bringing up his painful past: November 13, 2010: The only head-to-head matchup between the two RB's in college. UNT - 23 MTSU - 17 L. Dunbar - 226 yds P. Tanner - 87 yds The Mean Green are always Mean to the Blue Raiders... even in the NFL.
  18. Need more pageantry in this post. Too boring and mundane.
  19. Good Greif! What the heck needs to happen to get McGee off of this team? Why cut Carpenter and leave McGee on the team?
  20. WHAT?!?! Creighton? That's the best that the coaching could have done?!? Get ready for the Blue Jays! We have a gift in Mitchell, waste scheduling opportunities and we continue to want these home games against quality which we will never get. 10 seed here we come... Disappointed? Without a doubt! Could we have done better? Probably. It is what it is... let's not overlook nor look down at this team, or we'll get our hats handed back to us. They are a Missouri Valley conf team, they can play. No good team would do a 1 and 1 with us and the only way I would do a 1 and done was if it was against a high profile team on national TV. Creighton will be a ~150ish RPI team probably and will be a good test.
  21. That makes sense. But still a slight against the O-line... pick your poison: 1. You can't run block. 2. You can't pass block. Seems to me, either way, Steele is saying our O-line is going to be 100% ineffective against the Tigers. I just refuse to believe it. I'm not saying there will be a Lance-Dunbar-VS-MTSU-like day, but I think our O-line is good enough to help the running game gain POSITIVE yards!
