  1. Zach didn't have a spectacular game... only 4 assists on tackles, but he was all over the field and with the way the safeties were creeping up to help, and the d-line was containing running plays up the middle, he didn't have alot of opportunities for making plays. I'll look for him to return to his normal statistical explosion this weekend at K-State as we are about to run into a run-heavy team. Akunne, Polk, Lee & Trice better be ready as well.
  2. If Tech is going to fire BCG, now would be the best time for UNT fans... Surely they would not come after Benford now? He hasn't proven anything. It would be bad if he coaches this season, his players quit on him, and he gets fired after the season. All the while Benford has a great year with the Mean Green and maybe makes some noise in the tourney. I couldn't imagine them passing on Benford if that scenario unfolded. Then, we'd be stuck looking for yet another b-ball coach.
  3. At least some of them started coming to their senses by page 4... I thought there were some homers on this board, but "taking Kansas and Texas A&M to the woodshead", and "20+ point lines over North Texas". LOL! Will be fun to return to this site on the evening of December 5th.
  4. You know... there is a guy who owns an internet domain that hosts lots of UNT fans, that appears to be very friendly with the Athletic Director during his online interview broadcasts... Then, there's a guy who posts on said internet forum who is an eternal ray of Athletic Department sunshine. I mean, the Athletic Department can do no wrong by him, and he is beloved by the AD for this attitude. Finally, there are some donors on said website who give large amounts to the Athletic department. With their forces combined, this idea may be able to get back in the door with extreme traction. Hey, does anyone know Mean Joe well enough to have him pitch the idea?
  5. Or, replace "Go, Mean, Green", with "U, N, T" a-la the fight song. Doesn't matter. All are good ideas. Great question NT03. Rick, not asking you to name names or anything, but if that person is still here, is there someone else that may listen? When presented to the Spirit Committee & Cheerleaders, did they give you their backing? I would think there would be strength in numbers.
  6. Right. We don't need the noise-meters on 1st or 2nd down, and we NEVER,EVER need it when the Mean Green are on offense.
  7. Rick, Get the AD to put a camera on you and lead a chant that EVERYONE KNOWS, and I'll follow you! Heck, KalebSchumann, do the same thing, and I'll follow you! The problem is... EVERY Jets fan knows J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets. UNT does not have a cheer like that... or do we?
  8. Why stop there? Engage the local Community colleges as well. Heck, several of their students may wind up transferring to UNT anyway. May as well try to 'recruit' those students as well?
  9. This is awesome. Keep doing this. If the idea of doing a "North/Texas" chant after every point scored (6 times for TD, 3 times for FG), then by the time you've yelled "North!" 3 times, it will be over, and the band may or may not have joined you yet, and the alumni side will SURELY not have enough time to join in with the "Texas!" By this time, the cheerleaders would grab their signs and just go back and forth a bunch of times until play resumes as they are accustomed to, taking the meaning out of the whole deal. The queue would need to be more pronounced than just 1 guy on the student side, however awesome he might be. You know what would be a good idea, but we would need the AD involved, is to have the idea presented to the entire fan base over the PA before the green brigade get there (explain the idea to the GB prior to the game, they catch onto this stuff very quickly, they don't need to practice). Then, maybe have a practice session? And in conjunction with the cheerleaders' signs, put the chant up on the big board. Would probably only need to do this one time and it would catch on. If it's not introduced en-masse, and shortly before it would be called upon, then it will not be understood/remembered. Now, obviously Emmitt does not have the AD's ear, does anyone on here have the ability to introduce this to the AD and have them actually pay attention to you?
  10. I would be fine with a Green Out, or a White Out. "...Cheer for the Green & White...". This would be one of those areas that the AD would spear-head. It is a large-scale promotion. I'll continue to wear green until otherwise told.
  11. Right. I sit on the Alumni side. Sec. 205. I agree, there should be some kind of a large-scale queue. The cheerleaders out on the field with their signs apparently is not enough. I was wrangling my 2-year-old when I started hearing the mumbling. I look up and see the cheerleaders on the field with their signs, I see the student side getting loud, I and others who figured it out later, start yelling "Texas!" (who knows how many times it had gone back-and-forth before?), and we probably got 4-6 good volleys in (each one progressively louder than the previous as more people figure out what's going on) before play resumed. I was glad because it didn't die a slow death like it used to, rather, the cheerleaders stopped putting up the signs and the chant stopped.
  12. All of the points you listed out are absolutely the domain of the athletic department (except for the "gameday atmosphere" part, that is kinda vague). You are correct. And there are a ton of other areas that the AD must concern themselves with prior-to, and on gameday. I think we've seen RV get out time and again and actually motivate the students himself (just about every mens b-ball game comes to mind). But this is not his responsibility. He or his staff shouldn't need to do this, they're busy enough with other areas of game-day prep... especially the dang mics. What the heck is the problem?!?
  13. Sure! I'll do this. Now, who leads this? Who teaches the students? Who teaches the thousands of regular fans who do not frequent this board? I think we all know that if this fails to be effective the first few times, it will be disregarded forever, so it had better be done right.
  14. The problem is that the Alumni side takes a LONG time to get wound up enough to participate in the NORTH/TEXAS chants. The Students will yell "NORTH!", and then you'll hear nothing or mumbling from the alumni side for the first 4-5 times. Then once enough people start figuring out it's going on, we get about 3 good volleys before it's over and play resumes. At least, that's how it seems from where I'm sitting.
  15. Right. I just don't want what appears to be an already taxed Athletic Department to have to involve themseleves in the GB's/Cheerleaders/Talons/Greek/etc... responsibilities, diverting them from their own responsibilities.
  16. Is this the job of the AD? Seems like this would be a responsibility of the Cheerleaders...
  17. I think the K-State game will tell us a lot about where this season goes. Win that game, and we should be going to MSG to play some other excellent teams. Once there, anything goes. Creighton is a good test, I expect the game to be close. Would be one I would favor us to win if it were at the Super Pit. St. Louis will be a nice feather-in-the-cap road win. For me, I think the X-factor of the year will be what we get out of Patton. We still haven't seen this guy play with the team. If he's the real deal and can be a significant contributor, then looking at this schedule, we should have around 25-27 wins this year.
  18. You're absolutely right, but I would add another person to care about: the recruit. And as has been mentioned a million times before, coach Snyder built up the Kansas State program by scheduling easier OOC games. So not only does 'Joe Fan' only care about wins, but apparently those same wins can sway recruits as well.
  19. I busted out laughing and clapped when they did the Usain Bolt. I don't think anyone else got it. I enjoyed the show. Too much PA though.
  20. So strange. Usually for these kinds of contests the PA will say, "Make some noise if you like #1!"... "How 'bout #2?!"... "And finally, #3!"... Then whoever got the loudest ovation wins. Instead, goober says: "Vote for the one you like best, #1, 2, or 3!"... Then some in the crowd scream 1, some 2, and some 3 all at the same time. You can't tell what anyone is saying. So strange. Hopefully this contest is remedied before the Troy game.
  21. Yep. I think we'll actually be just fine at C/PF. We should be good at PG for a while as well, assuming Jones doesn't just blow-up and go pro. Now for the slashers and shooters.
  22. Silver, you and I both got what we wanted from the GB!! Big drum break and a Tuba break! Go Green Brigade!
