  1. Right. He keeps referencing "looking at last year's stats...", and "this guy's stats from last year...". Gotta think he just found a SBC cumulative stat sheet somewhere along with a copy of last year's all conference teams and just threw something together. 30 minutes max spent on researching that writeup.
  2. The ONLY fan groups that have any room to complain about UNT over their respective school would be WKU & MTSU. Check the Bubas Cup standings every year. It's WKU & MTSU flip-flopping for the cup & 2nd, then UNT finishes 3rd. All the time.
  3. Nope. Big East means East of the Pacific Ocean... San Diego State is joining next year.
  4. I don't consider this "smack" talk at all. These guys need to believe they can win the game. They need to justify their strengths. Otherwise they walk in the stadium and they have already lost.
  5. The offense is one that takes what the defense gives, and executes well (especially up front). If your safeties sit deep playing against any kind of deep pass, we will run the ball a ton and mix in some dink-&-dunk passes underneath. If your safeties creep up, watch out for Brelan Chancellor to go over the top and take it to the house. Your RB situation sounds a lot like ours. We have a Big back named Byrd who is great between the tackles, but can bounce it out and pick up a first down, then we have an all purpose back named Jimmerson who can do it all. Defensively, the front 4 are kinda shaky as our best pass rusher is a game time decision (??, or is he out, do we know?). Our linebackers are the strength of the defense. The secondary is quite a conundrum as they appear to be ball hawks, but there is very little experience in any of the starting 4. Special teams... please don't hurt us too badly here! I'm looking for a very close game, as I think both teams recognize the importance of this game to set the tone for conference play. UNT wins a squeaker.
  6. I just heard an advertisement for the Troy game this weekend on Pandora emploring listeners to buy tickets to this weekend's game and highlighting tailgating as well. It's a start!
  7. Maybe the UT-system schools will develop a good rivalry. It would make more sense.
  8. Do all of your fans justify this win as any kind of quality win in the same way you just did?
  9. Excuse me sir. Where is this Bacon State you speak of. I would like to live there.
  10. I havent yet chimed in on this, but I'm noticing a very startling trend. Do ALL of the white kids on this team have that moronic Bieber haircut?
  11. Not gonna lie, I wish you were named 'TSU-SM Paratrooper 04', but since it's you... hello.
  12. It has been stated that the University is looking to fill Apogee for the ESPN2 game. Maybe a National TV audience to show off our school to is the motivation they need to get the ball rolling. Otherwise, I'm not sure if there is an incentive for them to do this... Seems they are (and have been) ok to leave money on the table from ticket/concession sales, so that is not a motivating factor.
  13. Baloney! A bowl is a bowl homie! I'm sure the guys wouldn't mind having a quasi-home game as a bowl. Plus, most Dallas-area kids would love to play in the Cotton Bowl, since unlike other stadiums around, I don't think they rent it out for UIL Playoffs.
  14. At the same time, those same senior members will want to come to Denton (re: DFW) for sure! We may have So. Miss / ECU / Marshall at home if what you say is true.
  15. Big crowd energizes the team. I have a feeling this game is going to be closer than we expect... like Troy will be up on us some time in the 4th quarter, close. In the end, UNT fans and the Mean Green's poise propel them to victory. UNT - 27 Troy - 24
  16. You think the Austin paper, Bryan/College Station paper or the OKC paper writes about their home teams in an objective manner? Heck no! I think, even though a newspaper is going the way of the dodo bird, that having a cheerleader as a sportswriter may ever-so-slightly help the community appreciate the Mean Green more and possibly come to the games. The power of persuasion! I don't think that's going to happen though, and I don't think that is in Vito's job description.
  17. Texas Pickup was a burger place right? If you want a good burger in Denton (RIP R.J.), try RG Burgers off the loop by what used to be Albertsons. SW corner.
  18. Congrats on your new job as attendance counter @ SMU! I think you'll do great.
  19. Where's Grubes at? Edit: Ah crud, UNT90 beat me to it.
  20. I remember the Mackovic years at UT. Memorial was still constantly full. Colleges should be immune to the professional sports whimsical fans. We have over 100K alumns in the DFW metroplex alone. Where are even a fraction of these people? For some reason, DFW sports fandom has crashed the mindset of UNT, TCU & SMU fans/alums as well. SMU in particular... they were a legit team last year with a great newer stadium and money to throw at billboards and other advertisements (Pony up?), yet they still didn't draw nearly enough people to their games because they hadn't won in so long.
  21. my apologies. From now on, I'll remember, Kentucky = United Kingdom.
  22. I think he's trying to insinuate that WKU beating KU is a very big deal within the state of Kentucky. Like UNT beating A&M or Texas would be in Texas... Problem is, KY is a basketball state, so until WKU beats KU in basketball, people won't really care. It would be like UNT beating Texas A&M in basketball. Big deal for UNT fans, kinda bad news for A&M fans. Not so huge for the rest of the state.
