  1. I remember a few seasons ago there was a girl in Talons who would wave a giant UNT battle flag, (or maybe a SOW flag or something... I don't remember) and she just had a really tough time with it every time. I felt sorry for her, bless her heart. I remember one game, being VERY windy, and she was literally falling down trying to wave the flag. We need some Talons with her dedication.
  2. Sadly, we will not be able to exploit the Tigers on the gridiron since they are moving to the Big East.
  3. Just heard on Norm's show that Sean Bass was in a terrible car accident over the weekend and his girlfriend was killed by the drunk driver who hit them. Prayers for GMG.com's own (GreenGuyBass) Seabass and the family of the young lady who lost her life this weekend.
  4. Thompson's job is to deliver a quality-thrown ball. Did he do his part?
  5. No way you can expect fans to drive up from Houston to watch that kind of performance every week. I highly doubt houstonmeangreen is going to quit going to UNT games forever, but I totally understand his attitude, and fans like him (who drive up to Denton from Houston) are DEFINITELY NOT the problem.
  6. Time to put that atrocity behind us. Next week should be a breeze. If the Mean Green continue to play consistent ball away from Apogee, a win in Boca Raton should be a no-brainer. The Houston game will be the crux for attendance to the Tuesday night ESPN2 ULL game. Win @ FAU & @ Houston, and people will show up to see a 3-3 team. Lose @ Houston, and it doesn't matter what we do at FAU, we'll have around 15k for the Tuesday night game.
  7. If I'm Berglund, I'm licking my chops and making mental notes to work hard over the next year because the door is wide open for me to step in next year.
  8. There were AT LEAST 15 points left on the field last night. 3 missed FG's and 2 extremely stupid 4th & long red-zone plays that should have also been FG's. Anyone saying Chico is to blame for poor playcalling is showing some football ignorance, or is selectively forgetting the diversity in his playcalling. You can't blame him when the players don't execute the plays that are called. Of course it looks like we're running the ball all the time. When DT threw, it was often incomplete. Guess what? When your QB cant hit his passes consistently, you won't see plays called for him to throw the ball very often. When our guys don't line up properly, or the correct personnel is not on the field after a time out, who's fault is that? The coach makes the call, the players get on the field, line up correctly, and execute the play. That trick-play throwback to Thompson was horrible. It was set up nicely. Perfect time to call it, but it was executed terribly. Hard to believe the enigma that is Thompson. Great game at KS St. Some very nice throws on Sat. Some very terrible throws on Sat. I'm so tired of watching him throw a fit towards his WR when his ball is so overthrown it's bouncing off the facade of the stands. McCarney deserves some criticism for the way he handled the kicking game. If Olen makes the 3rd kick, maybe he also makes the 4th and 5th kicks that should have been made when we stalled in the red zone twice in the 2nd half. 16-14, Mean Green win. Instead, I'm fairly certain that both kickers were not even ON THE FIELD in the second half. I wonder who's decision it was for Chancellor to fair catch every punt? If Chancellor fair-caught because he was tepid every time, that needs to be addressed coach-to-player. If he was told to fair-catch every time no matter what, that needs to be addressed coach-to-coach. Can we please identify the best kicker in the state of Texas and offer him 2 scholarships? That onside kick to open the 2nd half was all on Riddle. Our guys looked totally unprepared for that.
  9. That night was like I was stuck in the Twilight Zone from 2009. I was watching some of the worst execution I've ever seen out of a Mean Green football team. Then, I turn on the postgame show and I hear who I thought was Coach McCarney (at least he was introduced as coach McCarney), talking just like our previous H.C. There was really nothing different about that game than anything we ever watched during the Dodge years. Well, the defense was a little better than Dodge's. But, time to move forward and get the win @ FAU. Needs to be decisive so that we know last week was the anomaly.
  10. Yep. Had to have been between 23 & 24k. Must have been something wrong with the scanners or something.
  11. Couldn't agree more. Playcalling was not a problem at all. QB accuracy and Kicker accuracy were the problems. Hard to believe the same guy was our QB against KS St.
  12. Dude. Nice foundation. This looks like, what, a $25 mil. practice facility? I'm not good at estimations.
  13. Excellent. I'll be looking forward to another UNT construction helmet when we have a groundbreaking ceremony.
  14. You can try to park along the streets around campus and walk. That's always free.
  15. Man, when I was on campus, Clark Hall served nothing but junk food. But Maple Hall had 'Panini Wednesdays'. I was there every week. So good. Bruce had the best cafeteria. I would always walk over there to eat.
  16. It's Clark Hall or you may as well be living in a cardboard box. (I always had Motzart envy...)
  17. Painful. That was the game I was sure Dodge was going to be fine offensively, but he needed a new, experienced D-coordinator... Then, D-Lo showed up and nothing changed defensively... while the offense started stagnating and we got worse. Good for coach Dodge and good for Marble Falls... and good for this kid. He now has a record that may only be broken by either himself, or a successor at Marble Falls. We'll see if any colleges take notice.
  18. He is making a tongue-in-cheek comment about how atheists feel, and I have seen it demonstrated as well with people who have had a bad experience in a church growing up. Some 'christian' makes fun of a person, places extremely stringent rules on them, or wrongs them in some way, and that person immediately passes those attributes to God. They blame Him, deny Him, yet harbor resentful feelings against the same deity they deny when their real problem is with some pretentious a-hole who hides behind a God who will one-day expose him/her. Hence: "God does not exist and I hate him." I'm not saying every person who denies a God exists has had this experience, but I've seen many who have. For example: Oldguystudent, I hate that your perception of God is this way. I'd love to buy you a beer, sit down and talk about it someday.
  19. If anyone buys gas at the racetrack off the loop, can you let us know if they're at that location as well?
  20. LOL. Take off the Mean Green tinted glasses. Benford has no loyalty to UNT, and Tech could throw WAY more money at him, plus he would be coaching in the Big 12... let alone Tech being his Alma Mater. I highly doubt he leaves now (because he is coaching Tony Mitchell this year), but if the coach Evan's portion of NT03's article comes to fruition, this hurts us badly. Then, after this season with Mitchell, Benford will be primed to leave for a huge payday, and I'm sure coach Evans would be more than willing to step aside and let his protege take over. Let's hope they're talking to Doc Sadler. He's an accomplished coach who would be a guy that they would need to sign long-term for lots of money.
