  1. Hmmm. Kinda. Surely the thought ran through his mind that he was too drunk to drive? But he did it anyway. And it really is my business because we share the same roads. You do too. If you're tolerant of this behavior, it will increase. Do you really want that? This is this guy's second offense. No doubt he had done it several times in between. Probably because he got away with a slap on the wrist the first time. It's sad that a life had to end for him to <hopefully> see the light. ...odd that this has struck such a nerve with you King. I don't think I've ever seen you this riled-up about anything on here before.
  2. You are correct. I definitely like the idea of trickle-down. But I think we should really target schools that are peers for rivalries. That was my point. I'm not against playing UTSA or TXSt. But those are schools that we should be looking past. Instead, we're lowering our gaze to them. Good Grief! Listen to me, I sound like a Pony fan. Oh no.
  3. Thank you for some major clarifications...It lends to some minor concerns though. Lets talk baseball! Of course, it is easy to turn to major donors for large home run gifts, but us bottom-of-the-order guys who can bunt-sacrifice a guy from first to second to get him in scoring position also have a little to contribute too. Not as much as the home run hitter, but a contribution nonetheless. And the thing is, we WANT to (well, some of us do). I guess I will call the AD myself. My fear is that they may tell me "no thanks, you're not in the right network"?
  4. Why is this crap so secretive? The only time anyone (sorry, anyone not having strings to the AD) here ever heard of a basketball practice facility/Super Pit upgrade committee was after Khuene had already put them over the top and all the money they needed was already raised. Now, you're telling me there's a fundraising effort going on for a baseball team? I'm a Mean Green Club member (therefore more connected than just any regular alum, but obviously not as connected as some of you guys), and to my knowledge, I've never heard of the University's/AD's efforts to raise this money. Is my measly $50/100 not worth the effort? I bet there are many more folks out there like me, and our measly contributions would add up quickly. And Deep is certainly right to ask for details before pledging. It's really hard to blindly give without being presented a vision.
  5. Seems a few people don't have a proper understanding of what we currently have on our roster, and proper expectations for that assembly of players. As a matter of fact, a few people seem to BLAME the players. The same players that were within a few minutes of the SBC championship last year. A year older/better. I'm betting if someone were to cut the check on RV's desk today, Benford would be gone, despite all of these odd straw-man arguments about a negative image around firing coaches after 1 year. With this roster of players, the Mean Green should be competing with the top teams we're going up against. We should be blowing out SELA by at least 20. Although I was somewhat on board with Forrest back when JJ first left, I liked the Benford hire better than Forrest... Now, I wonder what this team would be doing under coach Forrest.
  6. No dude. This is a criminal trial. The mother is forgiving her son's killer... that is fine. Very admirable, and honestly, very Christ-like. But this does not/should not have any affect on a trial. The fact that she is forgiving her son's killer does not mean the guy should not be punished to the fullest extent of the law for what he's done. Inexcusable. Neither does it mean he should be cutting up on the Cowboys sideline. Again, why is this guy's behavior being excused?
  7. So lets look to Houston/UTEP/Rice/SMU... you know, teams who have been around a while. Why do we need to look to these startup/moveup teams to create rivalries??
  8. Probably kinda how they played against ULL where it 'counted' the first time.
  9. Lol. I've tried to tell him that before. At least he took my advice and started putting up bullet points (or numbered points in his case).
  10. Y'all. He killed someone. It doesn't matter how he feels. He KILLED someone. Why is there sympathy for this guy?!?
  11. For sure! ...until he has a down year later in his career and we have a couple of stud MI's ready to play. Then, send him somewhere else and eat majority of the money you owe him.
  12. Simple. 1-2 game suspension this time, with the warning that if they have another brush with the law, they're gone.
  13. Sure. But being kicked off the team VS a one or 2 game suspension is also Apples & Oranges.
  14. All true... still not acceptable. I hope they're suspended for Idaho (at least). Mac doesn't seem to be OK with criminal activity, just ask Stockovich.
  15. MLB needs a salary cap... REAL BAD. I'm tired of Rangers ticket prices increasing.
  16. If we are not making any other moves, or bringing in more spares like Eli Whiteside, we will finish 4th in the AL West this season. Mark my words.
  17. You're putting some big expectations on Profar. I'm certainly on board with him playing every day. I think he'll be the real deal, but it may take time. He's going to have to put up Cespedes-like numbers this year, and that is a tall order. When you lose Young, you lose your clubhouse leader, and that's more important than losing a .277 hitter (...worst offensive season...?, maybe for him, but "ever in the AL"? Ever heard of Mario Mendoza?) Napoli is yet another big loss, but losing him doesn't hurt nearly as bad as losing Hamilton. Not even close. Part of the reason Beltre was great was because he followed Josh. His numbers may dip now that he will certainly bat 3rd with ?Nellie/TBD? batting behind him. I agree w/Green P1, losing Mike was necessary to get Profar the most PT. Losing Nap puts our offensive production at the C position on life support, and losing Josh is just the extremely heavy straw that obliterates the Camel's back. ...But hey! The Rangers got Juaqin Soria, so the BP is looking better! Time to pay Michael Bourn? I think there's no doubt.
  18. So, how are the Rangers going to replace Hamilton, let alone Napoli & Young as well? All you Ticket P1's out there: let me hear you regurgitate how this is good for the Rangers because they won't have to 'deal with his schtick' anymore...Morons, all of you, if you buy this. Make no mistake, the Rangers will be bunking down at the bottom of the AL West this season with the 'Stros unless they make a huge trade of some kind... and Justin Upton is not the answer. This offseason could not have gone any worse.
