  1. Please indicate where you have criticized Benfords ability? I don't think you have. But there has been plenty of finger-pointing at players (Mitchell in particular). The title of the thread contains the word embarrassed. I know you'll never be embarrassed. Nor will I. That's probably a poor term. You have a record of instantly jumping on board with whatever hire is made and supporting that coach. I'm guilty of this as well. I think most of us are, because deep down, we want that new coach to succeed. However, I think that if everyone were as supportive as you are, we would probably still have Todd Dodge/Shanice Stephens and the other coaches who proved to be failures... although Dodge probably wouldn't have been renewed . Instead, many folks recognize failures and speak out on them to put pressure on them. Right now, the pressure needs to be intense on Benford because this season is setting up to be a failure. I just don't understand how these same players would regress so poorly in the short span of 8 months. The only variable is the coach/coaches. I think that's why the scrutiny comes on him so hard. And piggybacking on Quoner's thoughts, I think the players have recognized the failures, know where they SHOULD be, and are unhappy with where they are. Is their collective effort at 100%? No, and this is only perpetuating the problem. To borrow from a favorite Mean Green Basketball Meme: CAN things change over the next 2 months? Yes! WILL things change? Not looking good. I certainly respect your opinion/stance, only because I know the intent behind it (the betterment of UNT basketball), but I just don't agree.
  2. No, I'm saying Franklin is the vocal leader of this team.
  3. Huh? This is the exact opposite of the Roger Franklin I've seen on the floor.
  4. Kram, I'm hoping that YOU will be embarrassed when coach Benford is gone next year and you support a new coach, watch our guys suddenly get back to playing at their 2011-2012 level of play or better, yet your support of Benford over the players this season is still out on the internet for all to see. Of course, you probably wont be embarrassed when coach Benford is still here next year, and our 3 most talented players leave, and the results remain the same, if not get worse in 2013-2014.
  5. I'd much rather see MT than either of the FL schools. MT, in my eyes, is probably the closest thing to a 'rival' I've seen since I've been associated with UNT. Some great close games, and some blowouts (for both schools). I'm not upset that they are joining us in C-USA.
  6. Bingo. And the amount of folks hinting at, or just flat-out naming Tony Mitchell as the problem are out of their minds.
  7. The way you phrased this makes me think of this: Maybe you meant to say something like, "How Many People Have Been Killed by murderers using Guns Since Newtown?" Or, maybe you meant guns like Megatron that kill on their own... I don't know.
  8. Is this a bit? If not, some key details are being left out of your comparison. And, regarding the schedule, are you kidding me? We lost to a D-2 team...The schedule doesn't matter.
  9. I'm usually dual-wielding the Box-1. Don't ask how, unless you want to end up on the business end of it.
  10. Wait, I thought UTSA was supposed to accomplish this!!!! And when you say: BUTTS IN THE SEATS, I hope you mean UNT Students/alumni/fans, and not the other teams' fans...
  11. I have no qualms with that part. But it sounds like coach Quartaro taking over some gameplan prepping and playcalling is usurping from Canales. Nice to see Gill on as a GA. He should do nothing but help our O-line!
  12. "There could be nothing to it, but I wonder if this won’t mean that Quartaro will take a larger role in game-planning and play-calling." Sounds like Canales is not trusted?
  13. Someone with deep pockets has suddenly appeared for ARSt. Or did they pass a new student fee like we did?
  14. No, our conference needs teams that excel in all areas of their athletic dept. that will raise the level of competition. WKU fits that bill. C-USA already has enough D-1 moveups. No need to add more. Now, if you're advocating kicking UTSA, ODU, or UNC-C out in order to add TX St., then I'm all for that!
  15. Problem with many of them (especially the musicians) is that they simply 'attended' UNT for a while, then left. Many of them don't have a tie to the school.
  16. That's clear across town. If my nosy neighbor likes what he sees and reports me, do you think I could walk to the other side of town? Besides, Twin Hills is known as "Oak Lawn North". I'm straight bro.
  17. I didn't appreciate them publishing this at the time, and I don't appreciate you putting it up here either dude. Wish folks would just leave me alone.
  18. I think the Sleeping Giant is a spot-on descriptor of UNT. You cant deny our student and alumni population. You can't deny our location in a prime area for both TV opportunities and football talent. However, We're like a freaking Giant Rip Van Winkle on Ambien. Eventually we have to wake up right? We stirred a little between 2001-2004, but never really woke up.
  19. Ravens = team of destiny. Doesn't matter who they go against from the NFC... but I picked the Falcons to take care of business against the niners.
  20. Sam's brother Jake was also all-state and is now at Tulsa. They're both good kids.
  21. Really looking forward to Derek and Brock's competition this offseason.
