  1. Who picked the vendor? Who didn't ask to review the final product before it when out live to customers? What a cluster.
  2. I get it, so Jackson is saying that all we need to do now is refer to ourselves as THE University of North Texas. Easy peazy.
  3. There are a few of us up here. I'm in Connecticut. I was able to watch every game on TV last year except one (I have DirecTV). And if it wasn't on satellite, I could find a stream on the Internet. Looking forward to the Army game. I took a group of about 10 last time we played up here. Boston is a lot of fun. I was just up there a couple weeks ago.
  4. You mean "lay off" as in fire?
  5. For those of you who buy stuff at amazon.com, have you tried smile.amazon.com? It allows you to designate a charitable organization that will receive a small percentage of the purchase price. Perhaps Athletics can get on the list of organizations to donate to. They are not listed yet, so I've selected The University of North Texas Foundation as my organization. Every little bit helps, I guess. University Of North Texas Foundation Location: Denton, TX | Year Founded: 1972 Mission: We match donor's desires to support students, teachers, research and facilities by accepting all sorts of gifts and gift arrangements that ultimately create and expand permanent endowments and other funds. AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support your favorite charitable organization every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop at smile.amazon.com, you’ll find the exact same low prices, vast selection and convenient shopping experience as Amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to your favorite charitable organization. You can choose from nearly one million organizations to support.
  6. The problem with height and weight numbers is you never know what to believe. When I think of Fine coming out of high school, I'm reminded of another "undersized" QB that played for Boise State. In 2007, Boise State listed recruit Kellen Moore (also a Gatorade player of the year for the state of Washington) as 6'1'' and 185 lbs. In 2015, the Cowboys have him listed as 6'0" and 200 lbs. I doubt that he shrunk an inch and only put on 15 pounds in eight years. According to Kellen's mother he grew faster than his classmates but then stopped growing at 5'11'' when he was a sophomore in high school. Moral of the story...everyone fudges these numbers. The question is, are the number on Fine also fudged? We have him listed as 5'10" and 170. Does it matter? If he can play and put up numbers for us anywhere close to what Kellen Moore did for Boise State, who cares. In 4 years, Kellen led Boise State to a W-L record of 50-3 with the following stats: Year Cmp Att Pct Yards Y/A TD Int Long Rating 2008 281 405 69.4 3,486 8.6 25 10 80 157.1 2009 277 431 64.3 3,536 8.2 39 3 67 161.7 2010 273 383 71.3 3,845 10.0 36 6 83 182.6 2011 326 439 74.3 3,800 8.7 43 9 71 175.2 Not bad for an undersized QB coming out of high school.
  7. What if we, as a University, just say that we self-identify as a Tier 1 University? Would that work? I believe we need to tighten up our acceptance rate, but not for a specific acceptance rate number. The more important numbers, IMHO, are freshman retention % and 4-year graduation %. UNT suffers in these metrics because of our acceptance rate. Tighten that up and these other two will improve.
  8. Robert Ford was my next door neighbor when I lived in Coppell during the early 90s. We played golf a few times...once with Butch Davis. That was cool. One night, fairly late, Rich Dalrymple knocked on my door by mistake. He was looking for Robert's house. I haven't thought about those days in a long time. Glad to hear he's doing well.
  9. Speaking of helmets, what are those poor guys at The Helmet Project doing? With almost every team trotting out a new helmet every game, they must be some of the busiest people in college football.
  10. I don't recall anyone coming on here and initiating a thread to belittle DT's career. It is almost always in response to a Vito article where he just won't let it go. As fans (and with very few exceptions) we support all student athletes that put on the Mean Green uniform and give it their best for our Alma Mater. However, Vito's incessant and ad nauseam campaign to annoint DT for football sainthood has had the exact opposite effect. So much so that it has gotten to the point where he is actually doing Mr. Thompson a disservice.
  11. Yes, nothing like our very own government to obfuscate a simple definition. Maybe we should go back to man-made disaster. The generally accepted central tenet of terrorism or a terrorist attack is to advance a political cause, belief or pursuit. I think most people understand that. If you want to call what that wacko kid did domestic terrorism because your government told you that's what it was, then by all means have at it. I'm comfortable knowing that SHES was not a terrorist attack.
  12. ter·ror·ismˈterəˌrizəm/noun the use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims.
  13. How about this....anyone who feels compelled to ease the refugee crisis signs up to be a sponsor. You sign up and commit to house, clothe, feed, be legally and financially responsible and liable for, etc. x number of refugees in your house indefinitely or until they are able to return to their own country. I'm sure there a millions of spare bedrooms in the U.S. that can be put to good use. Those what want to help out, can.
  14. Come on man. Are we going to call this home-grown terrorism or the work of a bunch of lone wolves next? While they may have lived in France, they most assuredly were not French.
  15. I blame Tulsa. Everyone can say what they want, but for someone like me who's been a long-time follower and supporter of all things North Texas (especially athletics) it's refreshing to finally see fans that are passionate and committed enough to actually do something rather than just fade back into the crowd and once again become Apathy U.
  16. I don't know....seems kind of risky. I mean we wouldn't want to do anything to embarrass ourselves here.
  17. How is it that NO ONE ever gets their name wrong and accidentally calls them South West Texas State?
  18. Last night on the wrap-up show after the TCU-WVU game, North Texas got a mention. Before going to break, the anchor teased something to the effect...."coming up after the break, we take a look at the most intriguing head coach opening....<pause>....North Texas...<pause>...hahaha, just kidding. See you after the commercial." No such thing as bad press, I guess.
  19. See, now this is what happens every year. However, it's normally leading up to the start of the season when we're still wide-eyed, bushy-tailed and with a 0 in the loss column. Harry gets us all fired up about the great things we're about to experience as Mean Green fans. The future's bright (there's an annual run on green-colored eye glasses), we have playmakers at every position, we're faster, stronger and bigger than we've ever been, the two-deep is solid, the coaching staff is prepared...how could we not win a conference championship and go bowling. Sure, it *could* happen, but this is our year. We will prove all the naysayers wrong and finally give this sleeping giant a kick in the rear. Then, and unfortunately a lot more often than not, reality sets in and everything comes crashing down. It turns out all those pre-season polls were right after all. What began with so much promise ends in utter disappointment. The good thing is we all seem to have short memories and after a few months of despair all is forgotten. Fall approaches and the cycle starts all over again. Keeping my fingers crossed Harry that everything you say comes true and we finally break the cycle.
