  1. I know not to put a lot of stock in spring practice, but he looked the most consistent out of all of them. Rogers had a great spring game but looked pretty pedestrian up until that point.
  2. Arizona and Arizona St have the same board of regents. If one is gone, it's highly likely the other goes with.
  3. Would probably be the single best offer list we've ever seen on a commit. Not gonna happen, but obviously would love to be proven wrong.
  4. Some fun Denton/UNT Specific ones: Cornbread Field at Morrison's Corn Kits Stadium Wide Load Field at Peterbilt Stadium Foundation Field at Sally Beauty Supply Stadium Yearbook Field at Josten's Stadium Orbison Field at Henley Stadium (could interchange ,any of the famous musical alum here) Stone Cold Field at Von Erich Stadium Cash Me Outside Field at Phil McGraw Stadium Feel free to add
  5. Since it's been floated around so much, I'll go with DATCU and Brint Ryan. Ryan Field at DATCU Stadium That being said I really have no idea
  6. Thanks for the clarification! I was worried he decided to go elsewhere. Hell of a player for a PWO
  7. Thanks Harry! Great synopsis and looking forward to the premium service. I'm the type that wants to know everything I can so that would be a welcome addition
  8. https://meangreensports.com/sports/football/roster He'd have to get on the roster first....
  9. Cracking me up with all the owl teams and the coaches having to clarify which owls they're referring to when they say go owls.
  10. When we had the right DB's (Hall/Brooks), Reffett's 3-3-5 was humming at times, just inconsistent. Hopefully Caponi's version is more solid and less boom or bust
  11. Feels about right, although surprised FAU is so high. They must really think Herman is gonna have a quick turnaround.
  12. Wouldn't hurt for sure. I hope they establish something for new students and even transfers. I was a transfer and our welcome orientation was pretty basic and by the book as you could get, heard the fight song and alma mater with a couple cheerleaders, learned the claw/chants, and that was it. Make the students feel a connection to athletics, get them excited to go to games, and establish school spirit early and often. Hell, even have a handful of designated people roaming campus or having a booth setup by the library and offering shirt swaps for anybody in non-UNT gear. And a nice shirt, not some basic cotton with UNT slapped on it. Give us your UT/A&M/Tech/Etc shirt and get this sweet mean green swag. May already be something like this.
  13. Sure it's less than ideal, but the point still stands. Diehards are more likely to support financially, and more likely to be interested in following/discussing athletics on places like message boards.
  14. You missed my point completely. It is very much the schools fault UNT is generally seen and treated as a "low effort, low cost, local option" by the majority of students that attend. It's cheap, it's not particularly prestigious academically (a few program tracks are top notch but the university as a whole is not) and relatively easy to get into, and it's within an hour drive of 8+ million people Generally speaking, people don't go to UNT for Basketball like they do Kansas, they don't go for Football like Alabama, they don't go for tradition like Texas A&M, they go because it's cheap, close, and easy to get accepted (Seen as a fallback option for many who don't get accepted to their school of choice) With that perception, and the lack of student buy in because of said perception, it makes athletic support infinitely more difficult. Couple that with UNT's greater administration's lack to encourage/re-enforce these things in an impactful and meaningful way (something like fish camp for Texas A&M) to students and it's no wonder we have low donor numbers despite a massive student/alumni population. Throw in decades of losing at revenue sports, and only the diehards are left. The problem is we don't foster an environment to create/encourage diehards in the first place. I don't know how many active users there are on GMG, but I would guess the numbers pale in comparison to something like TexAgs.
  15. I've had season tickets on and off since graduating. I have never once been contacted by anyone in the athletic department about donating. I get the "Get your season tickets now!" e-mails that go out to everyone but never spoken to anyone personally about giving money to the school or athletic programs Couple that with the general apathy and lack of student spirit/buy in (Maniacs has been the one outlier), and it's a recipe for long term disaster. As a student, nobody enforces school spirit or athletic support, and then after you graduate, it's more of the same Instead of "Here's the reasons you should take pride in your alma mater, it's athletic programs, and how to support them both in the immediate and long term" it's: "Hey look we have sports teams!"
  16. Top Sun Belt school would be my first choice. Georgia St. makes sense if they're adding "big market" teams since they're in Atlanta. Otherwise go after the best overall sports program in the last 10 years. Facilities and Stadium would definitely be taken into consideration. No idea to be honest. Boise would be a home run but not sure they want to dip in to the later kickoffs/lack of a big market (although nationally known well)
  17. Wonder how many of those are new and how many are people who took a couple years off when they saw Littrell was a lost cause and not going anywhere.
  18. They will be surprised at just how bad UTSA actually is relative to their football team.
  19. Lubbock has so much more to offer than Denton! Incredible amenities such as: Dust, cotton, the pungent smell of cow manure with a decent southbound wind, a constant southbound wind, STD's so unidentifiable they're only colloquially known as "Raider Rash", and more dust. Hard to see why he'd wanna be back in Denton with such life enriching features.
  20. Love it. Great to see UNT expanding and becoming a top choice in the area and not just a fallback
  21. I've driven by the new location several times. Love the SOW on the light tower. Looks great but a bit small though, I wonder if they're going to expand that area. I know they also have a campus over by the FC Dallas stadium.
