Our offensive staff and head coach failed Aune, and frankly, Aune did himself no favors. If Kevin Kolb can complete 68% of his passes with a 7.5 TD/Int ratio with a similar Y/A, why couldn't Aune do the same?

It's a chicken and egg situation. Littrell and Bloesch by extension did not run the offense well, and Aune did not execute to the level that leads to success

Feels like those kids are overlooked these days, and I have no problem going after quality guys like that. Still need to keep recruiting a couple high school players a year, but Hodge seems to be doing it the right way.

  6. I by no means think we'll he in the upper half, but somewhere in the middle. Littrell was a bust and it showed as soon as Mason Fine graduated and Graham Harrell left, Wren was just too chickenshit to pull the trigger. But that's my point. How many QB's has Littrell coached? Zero would be the correct answer. Morris took a bottom dweller at UIW and turned them into conference champions, he then took his FCS QB to a P5 school and showed his QB evaluation could have success at higher levels. As much as an entire team is important, a good QB makes decent teams great. If we are to go .500 or better this season, QB play will play a huge factor, and for that I trust Morris infinitely more than I trust Littrell.
  7. Based on Morris' track record, if we don't see improved QB play this season, I'll be very worried. I feel like that was one of the biggest reasons we brought him here, well that and he's actually won something of meaning in his coaching career (even if it's just FCS, it's more than Littrell can say).
  8. 6'3 is a tall corner. Plus he's a former receiver? Definitely would be good against bigger guys and jump balls. Texada is amazing but gets outmuscled, and Davis is bigger but an unknown with his injury. Definitely could help us

  11. Wonder what happened at his time at Miami Ohio. He had 20 receptions for 500 yards his freshman year, then practically nothing the next couple of years. Had a better year last year at Austin Peay. Definitely seems like a deep threat, just lacks the height. Would love seeing him on some seam routes on the inside.
  12. Honestly feel better about Caponi in this one. Jake Spavital is their OC and is a Air Raid/Kevin Sumlin disciple. There isn't gonna be one thing they run that Caponi hasn't seen/prepared for in his time at Iowa St.
  13. You get my point. Even as great a Mason Fine was, his play fell off his senior year after Harrell left and Littrell couldn't find a QB coach/develop a quality starter to save his life.

  17. So with the JUCO and this guy, is Morris planning on using TE's more than we originally thought? Seems like a whole lot of bodies for a position that didn't see much action in the spring
  18. I honestly liked what Gundy had to say. Make every kid sign a contract, you work on the years etc. So depending on how many years they sign for, you know exactly what you have on your roster any given year. They could choose to re-up or transfer. It's ugly, but it's transparent as hell. Then again that's putting a lot on 17-18 year old kids but if they're the type to chase money, I'm sure they'd welcome the idea.
  19. Well this sucks ass. More worried about the loss of Nixon than Shorter. We need that leadership on defense. I am hopeful, however, that Morris and staff have a contingency plan in place. Luckily I feel like they get recruiting now better than Littrell so there’s some silver lining.
  20. I wonder if his size played a role in not making the 2 deep. I mean look at Jett Duncan. He started every game at right tackle last year and is now at center. All of our lineman outside of Daizion Carroll are 6'2" plus. This staff might be valuing that length/frame more than Littrell's
  21. Brune covers LSU the majority of the time now, but still covers UNT. He lives in Baton Rouge, I don't understand the hangup? He's still an Alum talking UNT football with UNT players
