  1. After diving into Deason, he is a product of Bill Clay, who ran a 3-4 and is currently a defensive analyst at OSU (Was the DC under Les Miles from 2001-2004, when Deason played). I imagine it's a similar system with a 3 man front. Deason's defenses did, however cause a lot of turnovers - Most of his defenses at TAMUC and UIW were top in multiple categories in the nation. Majority of his coaching career has been D2/FCS though. Morris knows him well, so I'm sure there's a reason he didn't bring him along.
  2. Mazin might be one of our best players but because of the scheme he's too often not able to to showcase his ability. It's a damn shame after how good he was last year.
  3. I'm as unsatisfied with Caponi's results as anyone but I think he deserves another season and full recruiting cycle to hit the portal, and get some transfers/JuCo's to fill the front 7 - Continue to let players like Jackson and Anderson develop and improve(hopefully Starling as well), and plug in some ready to go players. Kropp and Weslowski have been inconsistent to horrendous, Jordan brown is wishy washy at best, Wood has been serviceable but both he and Kropp are gone after next year. Mazin is playing completely out of position and I feel terrible for him. Really hope he finds success. I think he has one year left so maybe a transfer's in store? Rod Brown is good but the rest of the DL is inconsistent to bad. If we don't see 2-3 LBs and 2-3 DL transfer in or from JuCo in this class I'm gonna be incredibly worried. Both Maclin and Rogers could walk in the spring as grad transfers (although I'm not sure how that window works if they graduate in the spring/summer) so our offense could be limited next year depending on what happens. I trust Morris will get the offense right. I hope Caponi does the same for the defense. If it's this bad again by all means fire him mid season. If he's truly running the same defense as Iowa St., it can work. We just clearly don't have the jimmies and joes to do so at this point in time.
  4. Not a lot of Riley's - most of the time middle of the pack, worst I saw was 101st/130 - Kyler Murray's year in 2018 (points against) Of course they were number one offense in the nation. But the point still stands - We don't need to be amazing, just good enough. Right now we're not even remotely close. Our offense right now is #9 in total offense, #19 in scoring offense. If we could get our defense to even the low 100's/upper 90's we're gonna win a lot of games. As it stands we're 130/130 in total defense and 125/130 in scoring defense Since we like to compare Morris to Kinne: They're the #22 scoring offense and the #92 scoring defense and they're 5-3. Not dominant, but good enough.
  5. Mark Mangino as the OC for the 2000 National Champion OU Sooners. Leach was the OC the year before where Mangino was the OL coach. (obviously longer than 10 years ago but you get the point) Not to mention countless Big 12 championships between Stoops and Riley - almost all running some variation of the air raid. Defense doesn't need to be amazing, just good enough. I think if we can get 6-8 quality transfers that can start we will be very good next season. We've seen glimpses of it this year. Big stops at key moments when every guy is doing his job. Year 2 in the system, players will be more comfortable and with transfers, you know they're playing in this defense because they want to, not because they have to. This is all assuming Rogers doesn't leave as a graduate transfer. Which, if he continues the absolute tear he's been on, he might be one of the most wanted players in all of college football.
  6. Love to see Noland's rebounds. I think he's gonna be a great all around player for us. Bigger body guard that's willing to bang with the bigs. With as aggressive as we are driving to the basket, I hope our free throws improve. Obviously first game but that will be very important down the stretch.
  7. If you spend thousands of dollars making videos and photoshops you are doing it VERY wrong.
  8. I'm fine with this. Undersized linebacker at 5'10 170 that probably benefitted statistically from playing on all time great SOC teams. Get a guy who can come in and produce next year. That's where the need is. Some developmental guys are still important but we need immediate impact at all three levels of the defense, especially the front 6/7.
  9. Quality? No Talented enough to make a couple game breaking plays every week that affect the outcome? Definitely.
  10. That's a lot of high school recruits for a team that needs immediate impact on defense. Glad to see them balling out though, especially with all the receivers we lose next season.
  11. Statistically he's horrible, but he's winning. Consistency is thrown completely out the window but he's making 2-3 plays a game that make the difference. Definitely bad phrasing lol. After I posted that, thinking after beating OU he must be doing pretty well, I checked his stats and they're terrible. But, Kansas is 6-2 and just beat #6 OU. Something's working
  12. To be fair Jason Bean is absolutely balling for Kansas right now. Just upset OU. That's more of an indictment on Littrell and his lack of quality QB coaching after Harrell left.
  13. Those losses do fall on the coaches, but I will say Morris has been candid about guys not fully committing to what they're doing. He's sat starters for missing study hall and he's dismissed guys from the team who are problems. I think we're at a point now where he's figured out who wants to buy in and who wants to play. He himself said he didn't want to change much because the team was decent last year. He found out the hard way, but has made corrective actions toward achieving the team he wants. The team he wants has been far more competent and competitive than the team he thought he had when he got here (IE the last four games vs the first three games).
  14. …..Seth Littrell would’ve lost this game by 30. He still has a lot to learn as a young HC, but he has cajones. This team has gotten better every week and I’d put Rogers as one of, if not the best QB in the conference right now. These guys are clearly buying in and it shows. I’m not guaranteeing a win in the next three games but I damn sure have a lot more hope than I did after FIU. We could easily be 6-1 right now if Rogers starts the whole season. Defense is making big stops, and Morris is aggressive as hell with an explosive offense. I like our chances the rest of the way.
  15. Gonna be a shootout. Temple throws the ball a ton. EJ Warner (son of Kurt Warner) is prone to turning the ball over. We have to capitalize on their mistakes or we will lose. UNT - 49 Temple - 42
  16. Bob Stoops comes to mind, but others as well. Saban, Day, Dabo, Briles, Dykes etc. Plenty of coaches have won at the highest level with high octane offenses. Not pure air raids per se, but nobody really runs a pure air raid anymore. Regardless, all of these teams are running air raid concepts in their offenses. As is the majority of the country.
  17. and built like a brick shithouse I think we'll miss Abou, but having super athletic bigs that are a tad bit shorter is fine by me. Hodge on the DCTF podcast said Moulaye might be the fastest guy on the team. That says something
  18. I'd prefer this over the flying worm TBH
  19. Maybe the same as these but in white? Looks like a number to me
  20. He wanted to be the main placekicker. We said he could. I'm sure there were plenty others that took a look at him but wanted him only for kickoffs
  21. Rookie mistake. Much like telling my wife I'd only be on the podcast for 30 minutes or so before she came barging in
  22. Mentioned on the post game show with JD - This also gives Rodgers two weeks to get all, if not most of the reps with the ones. As good as we looked offensively at times, we could be even better with some consistency.
